      You can compare fees easily.

      If you are investing under 5k, Spaceship has no fees – at all. No transaction fees, no management fees.

      Commsec Pocket has the brokerage to buy and sell (though small) and the ETF you choose will have an MER. I think the cheapest on pocket is IOZ at 0.09%

      However it is very hard to predict performance, and you should also consider your risk tolerance.

      Spaceship are running on venture capital money, it is hard to not suspect that at some point they will probably have to lower the threshold at which they start charging their fee.

      I suspect spaceship will have higher returns to to their portfolio weighting. With that comes higher risk.

      With raiz there's more portfolios to choose from.

        But one other thing to consider which is more certain is Raiz has higher % fee compared to Spaceship, generally speaking. Which is weird given Raiz is offers just a collection of ETFs with varying proportions based on your risk appetite, whereas Spaceship Universe is an actively managed unit trust.

        I have been using both Raiz and Spaceship since last year, but have decided to withdraw from Raiz but continue to invest a small amount of money regularly into Spaceship. One other thing I am going to do is to DCA into low fee ETFs periodically.

          Yeah Raiz does not compare well on fees. Not only is their management fee higher than Spaceship, and applies earlier, you also have to pay the MER of the ETFs, so you are paying a whole other layer of fees.

        Don’t forget that the differences in returns are because of the actual product differences. They have different risk levels entirely which speaks for the returns.

        It’s like comparing a stock to an ETF, they aren’t the same thing.

          Though it's more like comparing an actively managed ETF to a passively managed one.

    I would rank Spaceship Voyager above the famous ARKK ETF due to its OUTSTANDING MER of only 0.1% compared to 0.75% for ARK.

        from how i have used it the only activity in the portfolio is at hte time of a deposit otherwise it doesnt change and i thought it might be because the market didnt change but i left it for months no change i put money in and bam 10% increase in return since then i havent ut anything in in over 3 months and no change

          You buy units and the price of the units goes up or down depending on the performance of the portfolio you've chosen. Obviously if you have a larger amount in their your returns will be either higher or lower but you're not magically going to make money because you put $2 in it.

          Yes. I added that because I'm not sure if my code occurred after also depositing the funds or if it was just once my bank account was validated.

        I did a one off payment of $10 (Thanks Hany whoever you are for your random referral code). It doesn't appear in my transaction history yet. Hany's referral credit is 'pending' so far, which is fine because it can be seen on my account. I'm more concerned that no transaction history is listed and my referral code for me to refer friends doesn't exist.

          Turns out my original one off payment never went through and I was required to make another one off payment.. Once I did this, I did get my referral code. Seemed to be a glitch on their side since I had made the one off transaction without it going through

              @hawkeye93: Yeah I've had the referral credit pending.. But no other transaction history until I spoke with customer service and had to make another one off payment. After that, then I could get my own referral code to add to ozbargain and share with my friends

          edit: It does say that the bonus will be added 24hrs after your first deposit. My first deposit was deducted from bank yesterday and cleared this morning, perhaps it gives that message until the system refreshes?

      I know we will all be smashing refresh to check the daily performance but you should really train yourself to ignore that. Its a long term investment so you can’t afford to get cold feet and bail if you suddenly see 10%+ wiped off your balance in a single day.

    For me it was this or Raiz. The two selling points are:

    Raiz: round-up feature is amazing
    Spaceship: zero fees under $5k

    I ended up choosing Spaceship because of the zero fees. I hope that one day Spaceship implement a round up feature. I'll either estimate how much I would normally round up per week OR I'll go through my transaction history monthly and add up the would-be roundups and invest it into Spaceship Voyager.

      I still find the round up seems complicated to track and manage and confusing.

      In Spaceship, simple: set a weekly/fortnightly or monthly top up.
      - You know exactly the amount you are investing
      - when it is taking out from your account
      - No surprises and confusing on the transaction
      - Consistent amount of investment and on a a regular basis.

      Even with the 0.1% fee for over 5k, still cheaper than Raiz.
      for a 10k portfolio, will cost you $5 pa.

        Thanks for your response. You are right, I like Spaceship voyager for these reasons. You can always setup a new bank account and use the round-up feature via your bank, then manually deposit that into voyager.

      I went to check and the refer a friend offer is still there but the referral code had changed for some reason! I think people may need to update their code on Ozbargain.

          I am pretty sure last code T&C due was Feb 28 with the code (I had it on record)
          Just a few days ago (past Feb-14, a friend was able to use the referral code), now that code was changed again / T&C changed.
