yeah box was all completely fine. It's apparently a fault that has been happening with some regularity.

@ONEMariachi: I heard one in five have the super noisey fan. I wonder if that’s yours or if the fan is just broken?
@Saver Scott: I've watched some of the videos on it, and it sounds different to what those videos show, mines way more crunchy sounding. Hard to say, and it's super pervasive, worse than the jet engine sound of the PS4. So I'm definitely returning it.
@Saver Scott: My fan has a little bit of noise and from researching it seems pretty common, still soooo much quieter than my PS4 jet engine. If I had it in the TV cabinet I wouldn't even notice it but I have it on my desk connected to a monitor so it's more obvious. Apparently Sony ended up using 2 different fan types and one is noisier than the other.

I just paid for it a few minutes ago. While I have a $20 credit with Good Guys, I'll use it for something else. We'll see when - or if - the console turns up.
I just paid with gift cards over the phone … now I think about it, if it was an impersonator I'd get my money taken as there is no receipt. Plus they did take my address over the phone … as I have a thick accent, I don't feel at ease with it, hopefully they won't ship it at the wrong address.

Works with Steam beta, haptics (eg different vibration patterns for different guns in COD) doesn't work yet
Got one delivered yesterday - was super easy plug and play with USB-A to USB-C cord on steam.
I heard the haptics aren't that great yet, but worked great during a puyo puyo tetris session.
Does it have to be a wired connection? Any options for wireless (like Bluetooth or a dongle)?
I'm assuming you can connect it wirelessly, I just have a pretty budget rig without a bluetooth card.
I can't wait for some alternate colours to buy, I don't want 2 that look the same.
I must say though, the controller for the PS5 is a great improvement on PS4. Battery life seems a lot better, the feel of it is a lot nicer and I must say I love the look.
I agree. Pretty surprised they didn't have extra colours at launch, but that's how goes.
I am pretty sure they have done the research when releasing the ps4/ps4 pro white console where white was majority unfavourable. They must be thinking…..what if we launch the console in only white where people dont have a choice and then release the black version when the demand starts coming down.

BTW anyone that preordered the PS5 on Amazon also got a $30 credit voucher towards their next purchase. If you did preorder the PS5 through amazon and it's not showing up in the cart, message/call Amazon support and they should be able to apply the credit to your account.
Grab one. My controller that came with the console started exhibiting drift issues after 2 months. Left stick drifts and the R1 button got hard to press. It is now on the way back to Sony for replacement.
Since it can take them up to two weeks to ship a replacement, I had to get a new one to continue playing. Also, you cant use PS4 controllers with PS5 games.
My r2 button broke (common issue it seems) and has been sent back to Sony, except that was 4 weeks ago and Sony still hasn't confirmed they received it even though Aus Post tracking shows it's been sent (in accordance with Sony's return instructions). Just a note - be prepared to wait hours to get through on Sony's help line and then wait further while they 'passed your query on to their specialist team for further investigation". So good luck to those needing Sony support.

Tempted to take up this deal, but dilemma is: will the $85 deals I saw earlier this year come back….
Yeah I knew this would happen and hence the extra controller. My first return label didnt work at AusPost so had to be on hold for 30 minutes to get another one. It is a pity though - I had a PS4 since release day and the stock controller lasted me over 4 years before I swapped it for a PS4 pro. Zero issues.
