It's $100 more than other special editions.

    • +4

      includes the game

      • +8

Might have been tempted if it included the Pro Controller but just the console and a digital copy of the game? Not worth it

        • Trade in is not bad if you are at lv3.
My joycons are kinda weird right now, not drifting but some buttons are not registered when press, so save me of the cost of buying new joycon.

$299 (Trade-in) + 44.85 (15% at lv3) + $80 (The game, you do have some more bonus than normal editions) + $119 (Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, $100 at Amazon) = $542 (or $523), so you pay out of pocket about $27 to $46. However this is the new switch edition, which is better in term of battery and hardware compared to first gen, you will be missing out of jailbreak, however.

how many more special editions are Nintendo going to squeeze at the end of this Switch model’s lifecycle

    • +7

Tbh there have barely been any special editions. Compared to the 3DS or vita which had dozens of colors each

    • in b4 this model lasts another 3 years cuz the big N doesn't want to release this switch 'pro'

  • +1

Enjoy those joycons. While they last. 12 months tops.

You're going to need to keep the shell and buy replacement joycons unless nintendo put the old case onto new internals under warranty.

    • +4

My joycons are fine after more than 3 years.

You'd be pissed if they tried to send you back plain grey ones though.

I bought my switch on launch and use it a ridiculous amount and no drift or button faults here, knock on wood.

        • My launch switch has had so many fail I've lost track. 5 or 6. I don't even play aggressive party games that might hammer them.

I've got a drifting one right now I'm still using.. I tend to keep them for a bit due to cbf posting them in constantly.

I truly pity anyone with a Switch lite.

    $400 for the console
    $69 for the game
    $100 for the decal.

Is the decal worth $100? Up to you I guess.
Personally I don't find it that amazing.

    • But…it's such a cool decal! :D

    • +1

      Not defending EB Games, but:

      • RRP for the console is $469
      • RRP for the game is $79.95

The Bundle also includes exclusive "DLC"

      …and the decal….

Alsooo…. you can trade-in games or your old switch console for this bundle.

But is expensive as it is.

This is RRP and can be pre ordered at Amazon, JB and Gamesmen for this price also

Just curious why people are paying the much for old tech, is it more about portability, titles etc?
I know it is hard to grab a PS5 or Xbox straight away (I'm a PC player myself, quite content with my 2070, until stock starts flowing for a 3080).
I would like to get my girls a console - they are only 7, so perhaps the titles on the Nintendo are more suited to young ones.
Genuine question here, as I will purchase them one of the 3: xbox, PS5 or Nin.

    • Agreed. The only exception to this is the N3DS. I personally loved the handheld console and purchased a few more for my nieces and nephews.

I have a large physical library, but also with some tinkering, the N3DS can be modified to play a very extensive digital library that includes NES, SNES, GBC/GBA, DS, and of course 3DS games.

IMHO, I think the Xbox Series S is sufficient for the young girls; however, for long term, it would be a better idea to purchase the XBOX Series X. Do note, however, if you enable developer mode, both the Series S and X can be used as an emulator to play retro titles.

I wouldn't call it old tech if you could pull it out of your back pack and start playing it in the bus or train to work with PC like graphics games. Try do that with your ps5 and Xbox.

Also your kid is 7 what do you think the best console is for a 7yo? Unless you want her to play Dark Souls or Call of Duty.

      • Lol - Their favourite shows are Bluey and Shaun the Sheep. Dark Souls is very hard, so if she is good at it I might get her IQ tested for a gifted school. But yes you are right I will scout the titles and check more G-rated games

While there are some OK games available on the PS5 and Xbox for kids… the Nintendo is pretty much centred around family friendly games. For age 7 it’s a no brainer to go with the Switch.

  • +1

but it's got a new hat

      +1 simpsons reference.

  • I love the control decals but I have seen the pro controller go for between 79-89 bucks and the only difference between that and the decal version is literally the artwork.
