  • Great job, and nice first post.

    • Thanks :)

Just got one of these phablets, freaking awesome!!!

  • Ordered one as well. Thanks for the post.

  • That's a new low by $18. Price on these fluctuates daily by around $75, so get in quick if you want it (sure to get lower in the new year).

  • actually aud was only worth 98c then today its 1.006 ;) makes perfect sense ;)

  • +2

Oh man, just paid $645 for it on shoppingsquare and it's ready for collection at fedex :((((((((((((((((((((((((((
    sob

It's ready for collection and you haven't collected it yet? What sort of gadget nut are you? go NOW!!

Has anyone noticed that this phone is actually blue colour ? Yes, blue! Under "Options" on the phone's page, it says "Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 Colour" and the only option you can select is blue.
I almost bought it thinking that it's a mistake on DWI site. Luckily, I've called them and they confirmed it >>is blue<< back cover! No thanks, I like my phones black.

Also, there was a pop-up message while I was inspecting my cart: enter "LIKEDWI" coupon code you get free priority shipping.

Check out the comparison photo here of the back covers (Galaxy S2 black vs Galaxy Note blue):

Man its a fatty boomba… so tempted though…:(

        Desire HD….please break down :(

        • Just do it!!!

        • I got mine last week from DWI. It's an amazing phone. It is quite large, but I got used to it in about a day - now normal phones feel tiny by comparison.
Here's a few pics for size comparison, just fyi: http://imgur.com/a/CLrSo

    • They're mistaken, it is not blue. Well.. it does say blue on the box, but the phone itself is black.

So don't worry, it's black. My box says blue, but the phone is actually black.

The flip cover also says blue, and it looks black. But if you look at it under bright sunlight, you'll see the blue tinge.

    • think you still need a phone case, so back won't be so bother, but real question is the phone sell at DWI as good as it should be

  • Why do they have an option to get 2 x 16GB Micro SD? This phone has 2 memory slots or something?

    • +4

RAID0 SD card. Now that would be awesome.

    • lol in case one is broken you can use the other one while sending this one back for RMA

Here's a good site to compare the size of the phone in real life to your existing one :)

    • Was about to get one until I realised how much bigger it is than my sister's iPhone 4S. Personally, I reckon it's too big of an item to carry around as a phone. Its almost like a mini-tablet to me. Thanks for the link!

    • Thanks for the link. I own a Dell Streak 5, interesting to see it shape up against the Note.

I have the gadget lust again, I've already jumped on the $300 Samsung Galaxy 7 Tab and HP Touchpad firesale bargains in the past year. want…

  • My first impression of this device was "it's way too big to be practical" but I'm surprised with the amount of demand on Ozbargain for this phone.

Heck I thought the HTC Sensation XL at 4.7 inches was already enough for a handset.

    • I'm using HTC HD Desire. I will never buy those Taiwanese crap.

  • i really like the idea of this phone and potential tablet replacement.

battery life comparison vs iphone 4s here:
    http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-note-battery-life-te…

i don't have one an amoled display, but my wp7 phone loves to display webpages in very bright white (almost hurts the eyes)

I read "On AMOLED based screens you can use up to 7 times less power with a black background!"

Using http://www.blackl.com/black-google.php over google would then make sense.

Since the Note uses lots of battery during web browsing, it would make sense to have a web-browser app that displays webpages mostly in black while they load, or all if you can bear it, black formatted background all the time.

Err LCD panels are not like Plasma - regardless if they're showing white or black, the pixel is on.

      • +1

Not true for AMOLED - black is off.

    • who told you note uses a lot of battery while using web browser. my internet usage on fennec nightly 11b is 6 hours. lol.

  • this is considering i got mine for RM 2399 =~ 750 from Malaysia, but mine is a SME handset so i have E Warranty covering two years .. lol nice deal though.

by the way it has an amazing screen and lets you watch full 1080p videos. We are working on a Ice Cream Sandwich port on XDA, hope it will get ported soon. Cheers.

Damn, bought mine last Friday for 649 from these guys. It went from 600 to 649 then 579 in under a week.

For the people wondering about battery life. This things a beast when not in power saving mode. Browsing while charging on a computer USB, it will actually deplete 1% per 30mins or so on full brightness. No problems charging using 1ma on Mains. It will charge regardless.

I have managed to squeeze out 3 days with about 4 hours of browsing.

as for the color blue, the phone is black just like the galaxy s2.

I have succumbed. I was trying to hold out until mid Jan, but the wifes HTC Desire has just started playing up, so its a perfect excuse for me to upgrade and pass on my trusty N1 to her.

It's amazing how cheap they can sell this for. I'm checking the latest price via price.com.hk and the cheapest I can find (grey import) is only HKD $4700, which is roughly AUD $600. (ignore the checkhk price, most HKies tend to avoid it) I know the margin on mobile phones are pretty thin since I've worked with my Brother on selling phones from HK before, so these guys from dwi are ridiculous.

  • wow, nice, but it is imported from HK? what if i buy online and have defects?

  • can't hold it, just order this piece, hope i didn't make mistake

  • do DWI actually call your land line to confirm your order? cause I don't have a land line

    • nope. i got no call from them

    • Phone number is just for the customs declaration forms. Not needed unless it all goes pear shaped.

  • Thanks, just ordered one!

  • oh yeah anyone know if its local stock? and what are delivery times like?

    • You'll never find local stock this cheap. Delivery is good with DWI, If you order in the morning, you'll have it in 3 business days.

    • You'll never find local stock - yet. It hasn't been released in Australia so local stock doesn't exist at the moment.

  • Lots of info here about this phone, including what it's like to use, delivery times and what accessories to get.

I've heard this phone may not fit comfortably in your pocket when you are sitting down, otherwise I'd get one…

    • +7

only if your jeans are as tight as your username.

  • I just went to order one and it says "Not available" under price. Do we assume that means it's not available anymore???

  • $599 at shopping square if you really want it. Probably plus shipping (which I think is pricy there).

  • NOOOO, not available! I Was going to make the purchase tonight!!! GRRRRRR

  • I ordered early yesterday (went through - paypal) and I contacted DWI who have advised me that there is currently no stock and its on back order…

  • This is a amazing phone.

  • The best I can find is about $650 shipped (Kogan, Shopping square and a few others). Does anyone know anywhere that I can get it for close to this price (shipped)? I would be satisfied with $600 shipped.

  • Has anyone got theirs yet?
It's getting to be quite ridiculous..

  • +2

DWI are doing a ShoppingSquare style scam. People buying from DWI's eBay account as late as 28th Dec already have their GNotes. DWI sux.

  • +2

It gets worse, over on WP people are getting a response to their queries as to why DWI eBay customers are getting their phones and we aren't…

    From the horses mouth…
"WE DO NOT MAKE LOSS FOR ANY ORDER"

What a clever way to operate an online business.

Who can we report them to? Firstly for covertly backordering an advertised in stock item. Then for taking our money but refusing to supply the item due to the price they offered.

In the meantime there is this to vent too..

+1 million!! I feel sorry for everyone stuck in the same situation as me :(

Now, DWI has to deal with the huge negative feedback that has been brought upon them. Trust me, we aren't the losers here. They are.

  • +1

why couldnt they say it was a pricing error and not lead us on and waste our f'n time. FFS

  • +2

Did anyone manage to speak them on the phone about your orders? If so, what is the phone number you used? I have called 2 numbers no one is answering.

I think they should be BANNED on Ozbargain until they lift their game!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anybody got received their note yet????????????

  • Hi

Due to the suddenly high demand for the model, the cost of getting the stock from our supplier is getting higher.

If you want to continue with the order, you are required to pay$30 extra for the order.

If you pay $30 extra by Direct Deposit, please make your order number as the reference number.

Or you may choose to wait until we can get some stock at a lower cost from our supplier in the future.

This is just excellent customer service by DWI! Guess they just dont care about their reputation afterall. DWI should be BANNED on ozbargain!!!!!!!!

    • I got the same email - how can you complete checkout for an item that's not in stock?
At least they haven't charged for them yet.

EDIT: Actually after asking several times if it was in stock and being told it was on backorder, I received a free case for $30 it seems…

Apologies for the inconvenience as the suppliers cancelled our shipment on that special price. Your order will be fulfilled as soon as the shipment is received by the DWI team.
In the interim, we could arrange to cancel the order with a full refund OR if you need it urgently, you can get a hard bundle pack that comes along with a Samsung Flip case for an addition of $30.
P.S: Kindly, confirm back by e-mailing or calling us on the numbers below.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in thismatter.
      Many thanks

  • I've been blacklisted by DWI. As soon as the NSW fair trading Rep called and said "Mr Stumo would like his GNote". BAM. order canceled and dwi now say "the company won't be dealing with you."

But they will be dealing with me via the consumer affairs tribunal. Fair trading said they have lots of complaints about DWI on their books, so they are keen for people to get rulings against dwi at the tribunal.

This company is seriously dodgy. Its fine if there are no issues, but if there are, like warranty claims or this BS they pulled, DWI think they are above the law.
