  • Deal will start in 7 minutes.

  • Assume that should be the 510A as the updated equivalent with person & vehicle detection, rather than 410A.

    • +1

Yeah, it's 510A instead of 410A, could you help edit it?

      • Sorted.

        • Thanks a lot

    • how does person vehicle detection work? it only motion detects a person or a vehicle? can I set it to only person?

      • +1

Yup. It can identify people, vehicles or just any motion.

You can then filter videos, set your alerts or notifications for any combination of the three you want - just people, just vehicles, people and vehicles, any motion, etc.

Only issue I have at the moment is that the motion detection zone (ie. Set areas of the view you don't want to detect motion in) doesn't seem to be working properly.

    Just for reference…
4x 410's are $227 on ebay at the moment, less if you have a "Plus" voucher to use, and 4% less with CW giftcards…

  • Are the 4K AI cameras expected to be available in Australian warehouse soon?

  • So price for 510A is $50?

What is the difference hardware wise for 410Aand 520A?

    • The 410 is the $50 item, not the 510A.

The A suffix is the AI version with vehicle/person detection alerts and larger SD compatibility.

520A is a different form factor to the 410/510A

  • onvif?
    rtsp?

    • +1

They claim ONVIF 2.0 but they're not confident, lol, when questioned they say they only work with Reo NVR's…

I've been using 410's and 420's with Dahua DVR's without any issues, connected as ONVIF cams

      Edit: from the port settings:
      Media Port
      9000
      HTTP Port
      80
      HTTPS Port
      443
      RTSP Port
      554
      RTMP Port
      1935
      ONVIF Port
      8000

(I bought a couple of as-new refurb 420's in Dec, after a months use one has started rebooting a couple of times per day and the time resets to 2000/01/01 every time it reboots, they "seem" keen to help sort it out but time will tell)

      • the 8mp (4K) cameras don't have ONVIF.

        • That sucks, I wouldn't go for a system that was tied to a proprietary format… I like to mix and match and have freedom…

i.e, if your Reo NVR dies you have no choice but to buy another Reo NVR, and they can drop support for an older format at any time…

          • @FLICKIT: Yeah or stick to these 5mp 410,510 models

Annke also seems like a decent option

            • @impoze: I have a bunch of Annke 5mp analog cameras on my system, I feel they're very low quality, they're very flimsy plastic mounts and housings, they shudder/wobble in the wind, and they suffer from interference much more than other analog cams I have..

      • +1

Hmmm. Interesting. I hardly even reboots my cameras. I have my own local NTP so your issue might been network not able to reach to NTP server? I reset my camera couple times after initial setup when installing and I haven't notice time going out of sync.

edit: I did purchased my refurbished in early Jan though not sure you just received a bad batch.

        • I suspect the frequent random reboots might be heat related on that camera, it's probably just a random dud camera, an isolated issue…

I dont have an NTP server on my camera network, my DVR's keep time pretty good so I haven't bothered, but I probably should, I'll have to check if my managed POE switch can do it, or just set one up in Win10… I have the NTP auto-Sync turned off on the cameras at the moment…

Today I've managed to get it to keep the time after each reboot… It seems when you sync the time in the Date & Time settings it doesn't actually save the time, it would reset with the next reboot… I've found if I sync the time then go to the preview page, Advanced Settings, and hit save there, it now keeps the time after rebooting… It seems they should probably add a "save" button to the Date & Time page, lol …

I do like the Reo cameras, they're a bit crisper and the dynamic range works better than the more expensive low-end Amcrest/Dahua cams I've also been playing with, the Dahua's are better in low light though, and you have better control over the IR leds and such… Same as most cheap cams, there's good and bad points with all of them….

          • @FLICKIT: I stop using Dahua cameras is because it seem to create crazy directory for FTP snapshots and doesn't seem to support my custom domain for email notification which is a pain.

Reolink seem to best cost effective and doesn't phone home aggressively which only reason I recommended them to people that require budget and not lock down cam system which would work on multiple NVR or custom PC with motioneye or other software or their reolink cloud. Personally phone home shit doesn't really brother my use case as all their vlans with no internet access so doesn't really matter.

Heat could be an issue, had a really cheap cam that died during first few weeks of summer and that when I stop looking at cheap cams. Reolink survived 2 summers so far but latest refurbished has been put to test that long so who knows.

            • @[Deactivated]: are you using a managed POE switch or other to set up your vlan & firewall rules?

              • @impoze: I have non poe managed switch as backbone for switching with a pfsense router which does firewall rules and NTP server. Have separated POE unmanaged switch for cameras. That what I was willing to spend at the time but it would be nice to have 24 managed POE switch so I don't have use POE injectors for Access Points.

                • @[Deactivated]: Cool, i just got a quad nic to set up a pfsense box

I'm considering whether I go with an NVR or a computer to record the cameras.

                  Any suggestions?

                  • @impoze: Blue iris if just want simple plug and play to just to record.

If you want something free running on linux/vm have look at Shinobi(https://shinobi.video/) compare to zoneminder. Shinobi personally in my testing use way less resources and has much better community.

                    • @[Deactivated]: ah yeah I was looking at Shinobi before.

Would you PC based over a dedicated NVR?

                      • @impoze: Yeah a PC perfectly fine, I personally would get relative new cpu pc with low power draw, just make sure get NVR hard drive if you going to record footage and SSD for install OS. It make looking up video and power viewer much quicker.

                        • @[Deactivated]: does the AI still work when using it without the NVR?

You can still use the app with it? or do you just use the Shinobi AI so no need to get the more expensive 510A model

  • I like my system, but this is misleading:

    Work with Google Assistant

It can’t be easier to control a security camera that works with Google Assistant. Just say “Hey Google, show me the backyard” and you will see live feed from the camera on your Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs.

when they are plugged in via NVR this feature doesn't work.

probably the one major flaw in the reolink system.

the face detection/vehicle detection looks good… i do need one more camera too… wish it had a wider lens for where i want to put the new one.

does the face detection work though the NVR?

  • Pretty sure I just bought the 510A shipped from Oz for $60 AUD on the same page? Only 2 left shipped from Oz, plenty from China.

  • The 410’s still have movement sensor right?

    • +1

Yes - does have motion detection, but no smarts about it. e.g triggered by shadows

    • +1

Yes, but I haven't used it so I cant comment on how well it works…

      • I can comment, in door is ok, outdoor forget about it

        • you just need to turn the sensitivity down, ive got mine to the point now its fairly decent outside, you have to set good dead zones for trees etc. though it still triggers about 50 times a day, maybe half are false positives.

          • @wisc: I turn to the lowest but it trigger with car's headlight and shadow, the only way to not get triggered is to disable all area.

            • @SnoozeAndLose: yeah, if you got headlights shining on the sensor zone, then there isn't much you can do unfortunately… wait till you get spider webs they are a pain too!…

              • @wisc: No need to wait ,I am getting it all the time. Just did a pest control and they help me to spray around it and it has been reduced.

                • @SnoozeAndLose: yeah, i was just going to spray the outside of the camera with surface spray, should keep them away for a few months, sounds like it will be an ongoing thing though.

I just recently bought a Riolink NVR system. If buying just make sure you know what cameras have the aspect ratio you want. Nowhere do Riolink actually state in the specs what the aspect ratio is. Yes you can work it out from the camera resolution but if like me you expected cameras in 2021 to be 16:9 you'll be in for a shock once you install it and see glorious 4:3 video stretched to fit your monitor or TV. (RLC-410 5MP cameras)

Also "We are afraid we may not provide warranty and professional technical support service for orders not from Reolink official stores." Then you shouldn't supply your products to non official stores.

  • 2 refurbished unit were 65.99USD/85.7AUD total or 42.5AUDeach a couple weeks ago. Arrived looking basically new and still seem to offer 2 year warranty on the box but seem to say 1 year on their website but personally as long it fine after first few month it should be fine. Seem to sold out now but after I checkout. Arrived within 1 week as well.

    • eBay also has refurbished unit for similar price.

  • anyone know a good deal on poe switch?
