    • Pity I never see these deals for area's outside of Brisbane.

FiL lives 80km's north of Mackay and is interested.

  • Yep, unfortunately dont go there. I dont have anyone I can recommend in that area, but I'm sure there are some good operators there.

  • Why is the Fronius inverter twice the cost of the Growatt?
    Twice the warranty?
    Twice the efficiency?
What do we get for the extra $1100? Would take about 12 mths to recoup this cost alone

The Fronius is considered in the industry to be the top end inverter. European. Made in Austria. A lot of people request a Fronius That's why I put it in there as an option. Not twice the efficiency or warranty though. For the money, the Growatt is excellent and so is the Sungrow.

    • Would the Fronius give better diagnostics on any problems with the solar system? What is your installation warranty?

      • The Fronius wont give you anymore detail in its standard form - that's with just the WiFi hooked up to their SolarWeb portal. Install warranty is 10 years, click deal link below for more info. Scott

      Thanks Gomo.

  • Hi Scott, we have existing solar panels on our place, not sure what kw is but assuming not much (approx 8 years old). Would our old system be rendered obsolete or do you have a way to incorporate the older system with new setup?

    • There could be scope to preserve the existing, it usually can be done, but sometimes its better just to remove the old, and replace it with an all new system that has up-to-date warranties and technology. Would need to be assessed to expand further. Please contact me through the deal link, and leave a comment in there and I’ll be in touch.

  • I've been putting solar off for years because we have a tile roof that may or may not get replaced (as part of ongoing renos). How hard and expensive is it to take down and re-setup the panels if this happens?

    • You'd be crazy. Do the roof first and think of the solar savings as the way to pay off the new tiles.

    • +1

The roof definitely needs to be done first. Its not viable to firstly put up panels - then take them down - then re-install. Extremely costly and exposes the system components to risk of damage. Its a good idea to ask the roof applicator to spray up some spare tiles, and ask how long it will take for the new coating to cure, before installers can get on the roof.

  • Just had a 6.6Kw Canadian Solar + Sungrow 5Kw inverter installed for $4600 last month, this makes me cry.

  • Hi Scott,

For someone who's never had solar (with old tariff meters). What would be the normal additional cost to sign up to a new Solar Electricity provider?

I'm currently with Alinta which doesn't offer Solar so I don't know how it'll work and whether I'd be without power during the transition.

    • Hi Fantalia,

there's a fair bit of info that might be specific for your situation, please get in touch through the link below. Scott

  • Hi,

wondering what is the price difference if exchange to Longi 370w panel?

  • At the moment we would be able to swap out to the Longi at the same price. Longi has 12 years product warranty against 15 though. Get in touch and I will quote it up for you. Cheers
