I saw this ad on Facebook this morning and won a free echo dot so decided to share it with all. It involves playing a trivia game via their messenger chatbot.

It's an easy process. However, it only works for people with their Facebook name starting "ALE", so you'd need to make a new FB account if your name doesnt.

Once you get past this stage, just follow their prompts. I had to answer a series of 4 trivia questions (about Alexa). Then they asked me for my email, number and postal address.

Confirmed legit. Official Amazon AU link to promo -> scroll down to the bottom where it says "join me on Facebook". It links to the Amazon Alexa ANZ Facebook page.

Terms & Conditions

The promotion commences at 08:00 EDT on 10th February 2021 and closes at 23.59 AEDT on 12th February 2021 (“Promotional Period”).
To enter, entrants must, during the Promotional Period:
visit the Amazon Alexa ANZ Facebook Page (located at https://www.facebook.com/AmazonAlexaANZ), click on the promotional link to be directed to a Facebook chatbot, and fully provide the requested details (including full name, date of birth, email address and phone number)); and
be the first of 250 entries to answer three (3) questions correctly asked by the Facebook chatbot per day.

Limit one (1) entry permitted per person per day. Limit one (1) prize per person. Prizes awarded at random.
Prizes are as follows:

  • 300 x Echo Dot devices (valued at $79);
  • 300 x three (3) Audible credits, via promotional code (valued at up to $50 depending on the books purchased); and
  • 150 x Amazon vouchers, redeemable at amazon.com.au (valued at $25).

      Just wait for their delivery to the given address, shall take around one month after this promotion finish. I don’t think they would bother your real name, look at the FAQ regarding this matter:
      “Can I change my name on Facebook to enter?
      -> Please read Facebook’s policy before changing your name.”
      They don’t rule out the name changing thing, and won’t lose anything even if someone does that. The spying Echo Dot will still be successfully implanted in heaps of houses and its users will get used to Alexa platform as well as its associated devices. Moreover, once you change your name, it would stay for 60 days and that would help spread this Alexa marketing campaign for 2 months. That’s a big gain for Amazon to take over the market for virtual assistant devices, especially when their main opponent Google is having trouble with the Aussie Gov.

        about two weeks ago - unsure what is going to happen

        I have 7/6 notifications on the two accounts on which the Dots were won on - but I can't log in to either. I accidentally didn't let Chrome save the passwords (and I don't have access to the throwaway emails anymore) - so I can't see the messages. Worst case scenario I get nothing - which is fine - but my curiosity is infuriating me. I want to know now…

          I checked the FB notifications but nothing's related to this offer. I remembered they sent an email on 16 Feb for my address since I couldn't reply to the bot when I won the Echo Dot. Shall take around a month for preparing stocks or validation,… as they won't prioritize this offer over normal selling. Just wait and see but I believe it will reach us with no problem, unless you have to pick up from AusPost and don't have any ID with some random 'Alexis Sanchez' name on it to match FB info.

            @Newgod: I haven't gotten any emails because I used throwaway emails, hence my being unsure. I did respond to the bot with my address, but having notifications could mean that they asked for my address in a different form - and I don't have access to the emails either (should've used a recurring throwaway instead). I'll see what happens.

              @MaccasAU: Not sure but I reckon these notifications are just friend suggestions from FB, I had that all the time with inactive account. As you have provided them address, there's no need for requesting again. It happened with me as I forgot to reply and it timed out, I couldn't continue previous convo with the bot. Glad they followed up via email for the address. Hope it will work out for all of us!
