Be Quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 Rev 2 Case Silver $299 + Postage @ PC Case Gear

160

I've been wanting to get this case for a while and noticed PCCaseGear dropped the price from $399 to $299 plus postage. Cheaper than the recent UMART deal.

Pricing only applies to the version with the silver accents with the black and orange versions not being discounted. This is the lowest price I've seen this case go for.

If you're after a quiet, super modular, spacious case this is apparently about as good as it gets.

Postage was $19 in Melbourne but given the size of the case this might go up depending on where in Australia you have it shipped.

  • nice. but $300 for a case plus shipping?

  • how much RAM does it have for $300? :)

    • +2

      $300 case, $1000+ processor, $1500 GPU, $400 m.2 etc

The mid-90's called… they want their PC prices back.

Except most people had a more disposable income and components were readily available.

someone build me a pcpartpicker for audio produciton

  • Love my white Dark Base 700 from PCCG for $199, 2 years strong. Only regret is not getting a motherboard with a USB 3.1 gen 2 connector.

This one has an extra fan which would be useful, but I recently got this fan kit which is a great kit: https://www.amazon.com.au/EZDIY-FAB-Moonlight-10-Port-Mother…

I've got the same one - invertible motherboard was what I needed as my PC sits on the left. Not many cases are designed for window to be on the right side from memory. No regrets here

  • Also Fractal meshify 2 xl is on sale for $249 , even though its postage only, making it more like 270

Builders should keep in mind that "airflow" cases are usually quieter than "quiet" cases under load because fans are not spinning as fast.

    • +1

Totally. When I was researching my recent (and first) near silent build it did take me a while to realise (after reading countless reviews) that certain closed up quiet cases would have difficulty exhausting heat, and what's the point of that if the fans keep spinning and therefore making noise. Ended up getting an older Fractal Design Define Mini C which seemed to strike a balance between smaller size, reasonable airflow and noise dampening.

    • I have this exact case, and I can't hear a single sound from it. While your statement is true, it also has a lot to do with what fans you put in it.

      • What fans would you recommend? Noctua? beQuiet? Others?

I have stock fans in my case and they are quiet, but not silent. Just tossing up whether it's worth spending a bit more to try and achieve silence.

        • Nevermind. After I wrote my comment I remembered I wanted to play around with my fan curves. Now I have a practically silent system running at 34c @ idle. It's great!

        • Funnily enough I have 3 be Quiet 140mm fans, and 3 Noctua 140mm fans in my case.

          • @AdosHouse: Sounds like you have all bases covered!

I was contemplating replacing my 2 stock fans (Fractal Design Dynamic X2s) with Noctuas or beQuets but now I've played with fan curves the thing is silent/near silent (when not gaming). Amazing.

Fans have been set to run at 50% until it reaches 60c, but then i set to kick in. But running MS Flight Sim now (2020) and it still hasn't kicked in and temps are at a steady 62c.

Seems there's a lot you can do with decent fans and fan curve management.

            • @huggsymersh: Fractal X2s, I'm guessing you have a Fractal case and they came with it? My last case was a Fractal R5, but I knocked a glass of soft drink onto the front of the case and it took out the front USB ports, but thankfully that was all it took out. So I got the Dark Base Pro 900 v2 to replace it. It came with three of the Silentwings 3 fans, which are very good, and I brought the three Noctua redux fans from my old case.

I have my fans at minimum PWM until about 60 degrees, then they ramp up to 100% at 80 degrees, but they only time it gets above 60 is when I'm gaming and I have headphones to play and can't hear them.

              • @AdosHouse: Yes I got a Fractal Design Define Mini C. Not sure it's the best case out there but seemed to be a good balance of aesthetics, airflow, noise dampening, tho pricey for an older case. Happy with it tho. And I was a bit impatient to build something over the christmas break.

Lucky escape, kind of, with the soft drink spill!

Interestingly the temps I'm getting seem to be around the same, whether the fans are running at 600rpm(no noise) or 750 rpm (quiet, but audible). So quite a bit of room for silent running.

Came here for "be quiet!" comments

    Disappointed so far

  • +1

As mentioned in other comment, it is an invertible case which you can put your display screen on the right side which is rare.

  • Case cost half of the digital PS5/XB series X…
What’s the benefit of this compared to a $80 case?

  • Thanks OP! been waiting for the price of this case to drop since it came out two years ago. cant waiiit to experience the pure silence and beauty of a be quiet case.
