  • Cheaper at ebay $4.45 and same store.
    This is marketing, not bargain.

    • Hey mate completely different quality the ones you are reffering to. These ones are 450 Qsm unlike the eBay ones hence the price difference. Thanks

"Mod note: These bandana tubes are advertised as "Face Shields", but they are not suitable for use as face masks for COVID-19 purposes."

    https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/face-masks-types-face-mas…

Seems to be legal in Victoria but I am not giving legal advice.

Edit: These are also much cheaper from China, like ebay and aliexpress so I hope they are coming from within Australia to justify the ~400% price difference

Seems to be legal in Victoria but I am not giving legal advice.

There is an important distinction between legal and irresponsible.

The first paragraph under Can I wear a snood or gaiter instead of a mask? heading states:

A face mask is always recommended. The Chief Health Officer recommends a mask with three layers that fits securely around the face, specifically covering the nose and the mouth.

For the sake of those around you and healthcare workers, please be responsible.

We have been selling these for 8 years as Face Shields. They are known globally as face shields amongst others. We predominately sell fishing gear tackle and outdoor apparel. Not sure why you are bringing covid into the mix as they are not advertised that way.

To be clear, I have no issue with the product or website as it doesn't suggest using the bandanna for protection against transmission of COVID-10 or other repository illnesses.
I do have an issue with @Gaxx suggesting that these could be legal in Victoria and/or suitable.

the snood or gaiter can extend in a fitted form to snugly fit over and cover your nose and mouth. It must be secure around your neck and lower face with no gaps along the nose ridge or the top of the garment.

You also cannot wear a bandana or scarf on its own.

      Tackle Paradise

Our Face shields are a one size fits all for both adults and children.

I cannot see how a one-size-fits-all bandana tube can possibly satisfy the requirements of "secured around your neck and lower face with no gaps along the nose ridge or the top of the garment" and "cannot wear a bandana or scarf on its own". Thus my warning note.

And calling a bandana tube a "Face Shield" is frankly misleading. This is a face shield.

They are pretty tight when you first get them and they should make a closed loop aound your nose bridge, but over time they get stretched out.

I'm not telling people to buy them, just letting people know there are options.

As for the health concerns, well thats your personal choice, people reuse the shit out of those reusable masks and never wash them when theyre supposed to be changed every few hours and inbetween major locations for them to not spread the illness.

        • I forgot to mention, these were the tags as originally written by OP:

Bandanas, Face Shields, Face Tubes, Face Tubes Australia, Surgical Mask

@alvian: Incorrect, we only added the first 4. The last one is in italics, we did not add, perhaps that is auto generated hence the italics but that is not from us.

            • @[Deactivated]: If you say so, but this says otherwise. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604511/revisions#1279740vs…

Nowhere in the original title or description were these advertised as bandanas. You have used the term Face Shields throughout.

              • @alvian: That's because they are face shields and were sold as face shields long before covid and are recognised globally as face shields. If anything your responses are causing all the confusion.

                • @[Deactivated]:

                  recognised globally as face shields

Shall we take a look at what are globally recognised as face shields? https://www.google.com/search?q=face+shields&tbm=isch

Except for one image from a sponsored ad, I don't see any bandana tube on the page. So much for your global recognition.

                  • @alvian: If you carried out the same search pre-covid, only our style of face shields appeared. The pandemic has certainly changed the google image rankings as people are looking for that style you have pictured now, however that does not mean we will change the name or branding of our products. I hope that clears it up.

                    • @[Deactivated]: You keep making statements without evidence to back them up. I am done here.

If you carried out the same search pre-covid, only our style of face shields appeared.

I carried out the same search pre-COVID. Your style of face shields did not appear.

Again, they ad not advertised for covid, and they are one size fits all. You can tighten by wrapping over top of head or chin, you can fit on a baby or a wrestler tightly.

        • +1

I think a mod added a note regarding COVID-19 in your description which has confused people in this thread. I didn't even think COVID when I read the title, like you said, you guys deal with fishing tackle!

          • @Lizard Spock: What do you think of how the post was originally written?

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604511/revisions/1279740/v…

When you read it through do you think you're buying bandanas or face shields?

            • +1

@alvian: I still think bandannas. Because I'm a fisherman, and in context of a tackle store, face shield still makes me think the type that op has advertised. The general public may not think that, and I understand needing to clarify.

              • +1

                @Lizard Spock: Thanks :)

    • Yes thousands in stock in sydney and the ones on ebay and china are different qsm (material thickness)

      • Pretty sure it’s GSM not QSM - grams per square.

Where are there bandanas for $4.95 on your site? All $8.95 from what I see.

These could be pretty handy when I'm out in the boat, does anybody know if these have a SPF rating.

  • There aren’t any for $4.95. The cheapest is $8.95.
