    Is this OzBargain or OzPriceIncreaseNotifications?

    • It just happen to pop up as a targeted ad when I opened OzBargain

    • +2

If you find any rrp rtx cards please post here. They are all up at least $200 than rrp

      • +1

wait a few months for price to come back to RRP

        • +1

By then the bitcoin will be 90k and the cards will be even more hard to find.

          • +1

@MKBHD: I think building a nuclear power plant for BTC mining might just be worth it now…

          • @MKBHD: You can't use graphics cards to mine Bitcoin. You can use it to mine Ethereum. What I would say, is be patient - at current jacked up prices, there are actually stock available. That means that this is the current equilibrium, and prices will slowly drop as stock continues arriving in the market.

Do note it may not go back down to original local RRP before end of the year, but hopefully you'll be able to score $900 3070 and $1300 3080 in a few months.

Also lower end models (such as 5500xt) are hitting the market new and used as people start getting their 3000 series cards. It may be useful to get one in the mean time.

  • apparently they can mine coins with cpu. so i guess, this is the price. if you need it buy it now when you can…

Intel>AMD…price to performance now. $90 over RRP and still sells out..

    • Surprised this comment was not downvoted by the fanboy

      • This is Ozbargain not r/AMD. In all seriousness though, i've never bought a new Intel processor (save for the original Pentium our family got back in the 90s) but if someone today is looking for a decent processor at an ok price, Intel is a good option.

Also, please consider the previous Ryzen generation, say 3600 - its basically half the price for the same number of cores and 80% of the performance

  • Not much difference between 3600 and 5600x ay?

    • I'm trying to find out what is the main difference too. 3600 is $287 on amazon and I'm thinking of getting it.

      • +4

I got the 3600 now and i don't think I will be upgrading for another year or two. If you can pick up the 3600 for $287 go for it as it was like $320 late last year

        • What mobo do you have? Yeah, I've got a 6600k right now and I really want to up some of the performance.

        • -1

Jumping in to say I posted the same just now in the comment above. The 3600 is a great processor with about 80% of the performance for half the price. Its really a no brainer if you need a processor now. Also keep the box, and sell it if you ever want to upgrade in the future.

    • +2

Not for 1440p or 4k gaming, no. Very similar.

But in this market, you need to check the intels, too. E.g.: the i5 10400f is similar to the 3600, but only costs $215 delivered:

      https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/vrhmP6/intel-core-i5-104…

The 5000x series are fastest, but not by much. And the prices are very high, and the intels have dropped to compete, so they are sometimes best value right now.

      • Keep in mind with intel the upgrade path is usually very limited compared to AMD.

  • +1

Thanks OP but I refuse to be price gouged.

  • +5

Can't believe im saying this but an i9-10900F for $15 more is a better option

    • +1

      It's actually $549 at Scorptec

  • +9

This is not a bargain. This is a just artificially increased price due to high demand and not enough supply.

  • +2

I gave up and just preordered a 5900x for 859 at PLE. I can't see prices going down any time soon for these chips :(

    • That's gonna take a long time to arrive. Get Zen 2

      • +1

I got a 3300x as placeholder so I am happy to wait it out

        • +1

So glad I bought a 3300x at launch. It's never been any cheaper than the launch price in the year since it released.

And I'm getting similar performance (within 10%) to CPUs 4 times the price.

          • +1

@ItsMeAgro: Yeah crazy times. I wish I did the same but now for 550 I may as well pay 300 more for double the cores

        • Ah good thinking

    • I hope you get it soon. I ordered my 5900x off of them 5 minutes after their release months ago and my ETA is 9th of April 😭

  • +4

WTF… even i7-10700K can be found for below $500 easily now (probably will be able to get them for near $400 when 11th gens come out by end of Q1), who wants to buy at such a markup??

  • +1

I must downvote the antithesis of a bargain.

  • +3

Why, why do people even buy these?

5800X's you can find below RRP, cheapest ones are ~$50 more than this.

Why on gods earth would anyone buy this at this price.

Is it just people reading reviews calling this well priced, and the 5800X poorly priced, so they blindly buy this regardless of what price they're actually buying it for?

    • +2

Yup, people don't account for price adjustment

    • true but the 5800 runs hotter and nosier and is less efficient

      • -2

It's 1) wrong, the 5800X is more efficient, If you limit the two CPU's to the same power limits the 5800X will be faster

        2) the power differences are artificial. Ryzen's boosting behaviour means the CPU will use as much power as it can if it has thermal headroom. High temperatures aren't bad. If you want to decrease the noise set the power target to like 95W in bios, you'll drop power consumption hugely and barely change performance. If you're the kinda person that can't stay up at night because their CPU temperature sensor says 90 instead of 70 you need something else to do with your life.

        3) is a terrible reason to overpay for a 5600X anyway

        • -1

          1) if you run both the 5800X and the 5600X at the same power then you're hobbling the 5800X to make a point. If you run it at the power it is INTENDED to run at (105W vs 65W for the 5600) it obviously runs hotter.

          2) unless you specifically need to run the CPU cooler then artificially limiting the power to the CPU is like disabling a couple of chambers in a car engine so you lower the petrol usage.

          3) overpaying for anything is not a bargain, just like this bundle is not a bargain.

          • @gizmomelb: The whole point of my post was that this a terrible deal and you should just spend and extra $50-100 on a 5800X, then people were like "oh the 5800X runs hotter so the 5600X at the same price is a better buy". Which is really really dumb and probably just misunderstanding what's going on. The 5800X is using more power because you're letting it. Worrying about 5800X power consumption by comparing it to the 5600X is silly when you could run the 5800X cooler. It's not a real advantage. Also power limiting the 5800X basically makes no difference to the performance. You're not disabling cores like the comparison to car engines that you implied, you're dropping clocks very slighlty bringing the CPU into a more ideal part of the voltage-frequency curve. You can even improve performance while dropping power by undervolting it.

It's like saying oh i'd rather pay more for a V4 than a V8 because the V4 uses a bit less fuel. But even worse because the 5800X could be more efficient if you wanted it to be

  • +2

This is closer to a scam than a deal.
stop buying overpriced shit if you want the price to come down.

  • This listing has been in stock since Friday or Saturday so no rush. Also ends up being $574 after shipping and cc surchage (lol).

If you're going to pay scalper prices because you need it now at least get the one from BudgetPC, which although scalped has free shipping and no CC surcharge.

EDIT: I just looked and it seems BPC have changed their price from $559 to $569, they had droppd it from $579 to $559 on Saturday. I have a feeling there's a lot more stock come in and these guys are unsure the best strategy.

  • +1

It's been there for a while, and for this price tag it's no deal at all. I would consider it a deal if it's in stock on RRP considering the high demand at the moment, but obviously this isn't the case.

  • Paid $460 for one of these on release day… :) was for work so i didnt care much about the mark up from 3600 to 5600X

  • Highest number of negative comments i have seen in a while. I am seriously considering to convert to Intel family bcz of non availability of good ryzen processors in the market. 😕

  • +1

Can get a 10900F or 10700K and a decent cooler for this much.

  • Paid ~470 for this at newegg. This is NOT a bargain.

  • Interesting how this jacked up price compelled you to create an account and post OP.

  • Does anyone know whether a BIOS update is required for ASUS PRIME X570-P motherboard? And if so, how do you go about it without CPU?

    • I have an ASUS PRIME X570-P CSM and yes there was a recent BIOS update for it to support the 5x00 series CPUs. Try powering up the motherboard and see if you can get the built in BIOS UTILITY to update the firmware (also try downloading it to a USB stick and boot up board and see if you can update from the file). At worst take the motherboard to a PC store and they'll charge you maybe $20 to upgrade it?

EDIT: looks like you can with X570 chipset boards - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aBiTr6tpcs&ab_channel=GregS…

      • I don't think ASUS PRIME X570-P supports BIOS flashback, something ASUS reserved for their ROG series motherboard. I ended up paying $20 to get it upgraded at the shop.

Didn't want to fork out extra for this, but this is the quickest solution.
