RM850x is slightly cheaper at Umart at $199 with free c&c.

RM750x

May be worth waiting a little longer for an even cheaper price if you aren't in a hurry, as these seem to be getting gradually cheaper again. RM850x was $185 back in November for example - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583270

Glad the PSU prices are somewhat returning to normal, however GPUs are another story…

  • Paid $229 less than a week ago, so this looks like a good deal.

  • Waiting for a discount on hx850

RM750x is a rock solid PSU. Absolutely silent under low loads and essentially inaudible under heavy loads because all the other fans drown it out anyway. Modularity is a bonus, but cables are chonky and somewhat difficult to route neatly.

    • Good points! I've got the RM750X powering a relatively light system (while waiting for a GPU upgrade) and even under heavy loads it's silent for me. I believe it's around the 300-400W mark before the fans start to kick in and become audible.

    • I have 850 and I cant hear it….legit- just upgraded form 700 w Cooler master and got this one plus 6800 xt to replace my 1080ti and my system is virtually silent - under load its whisper quiet
amazing how things have become so silent - when I had my comp 6 years ago it sounded like a jet engine, now I can hear my dog licking his balls on the couch while I'm gaming…

  • hopefully sub 180 later in the year

Was sure I fried my gfx card when doing something stupid while building a PC (don't drink and build PC kids), but RM750x protection saved me when a lesser PSU may not have. Meanwhile my cousin went through two DOA evga PSU before settling on RM850x and had no issues since. From reviews they seem really well built PSUs.

  • Why would you pick this over say…. Gigabyte with more PCIE/ETA slots and a better price?

    • +1

This has been classed as a Tier “A” PSU for high end systems while the gigabyte PSU is made by MEIC and is classed as Tier “B” for mid range computers.

Google “tier 4 psu” and it should be the first result.

      • +2

Actually, RMx (2018) is rated as Tier A+.

    • cuz this one is the best in its class - pay extra for piece of mind

    • Not sure but I have the impression they are all made in the same factory in China :/

    • Simple answer really is tried and tested PSU that's been around for years with little to no issues and has a 10 year warranty as well as being really quiet.
