Really good deal for the Silver version. Factor in 5% GiftCard from Shopback and it becomes even cheaper again.

      • Correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think you can use the code and not checkout with afterpay.

    new model coming in march

    • Wonder if there will be a big sale on it soon-ish, or if I should just get JB to match apple edu, then use those 15% gift cards from way back.

      • Assume JB doesn't match edu prices, does it?

        • I remember they did.

1299 for an iPad? How would it compare to just getting a decent PC and a Wacom?

    • Difficult to watch movies in bed or on a plane with a desktop tower.

      • It’s gonna take a while before we could be on a plane though

      • But you don’t need a pro to watch movies in bed. Any iPad will do, even an iPad Air 1st gen is still perfect for that.

        • Ehh.. not a 1st gen ipad air. Maybe the newer ones have stereo speakers but one of the key reasons I got an ipad pro (2017 one) back in the day was the quad-speakers. It makes a huge difference when in landscape.

          • @ATangk: Interesting - I have the 2017 Pro as well as an old iPad Air. The iPad Air is slow but I don't notice much difference between the 2 when watching Netflix (other than the slightly smaller screen). Also, when I'm on the iPad it's mainly not to disturb others in the house so I always use headphones, never took advantage of the so called quad speakers.

            • @bozbargain: The speakers on the ipad are quite good, significantly better than an iphone (obviously) but can match some smaller bt speakers. I would blast the ipad when working in the garage for example, its both musicbox and service manual in one.

Newer ipads have stereo speakers for landscape though, so it doesnt matter too much.

    • Well it’s a lot smaller than a PC. Rune cooler, runs silent, incredible display, portable, built in speakers are quite good, Apple Pencil turns it into a video Wacom.

    • Probably half the price of a decent PC and decent Wacom.

    • An 11” iPad is very portable for on the go. Something that is easy to pull out on public transport and very light to carry.

      • So is the 8th gen iPad. What would you be able to do on public transport with an iPad Pro that can’t be done on the latest regular iPad, at half the price?

        • I like the full screen rather than the button. I would, probably, be looking at the air.

          • @try2bhelpful: Of course, the pro is a more premium version and it looks better and has less bezel but on a device this size, and with the internals of the 8th gen iPad, I struggle to see why one is twice the price of the other.

            • @bozbargain: Go ask Apple :) I really hate the Bezel, it cuts into the screen too much. My preference would be a mini Air. The right size to carry with a bigger screen. It is up to personal preferences and I was willing to pay more for the screen real estate.

              They aren’t the same specs.
