  • Does anyone know if this is any good? Are there better free alternatives? Also i notice this doesn't re-encode to .mkv or similar hd format for pc / media player playback, are there good free encoders that can be used with this software or other blueray ripper/descriptor software?

    • Don't know how good the software is?? I am going to try it.
But Video Converter they have should serve you well.

      • Nah, i never buy this kind of stuff only look out for the free alternatives, years ago i used to use dvd decrypter & Auto GK which are both free but they are for dvd's not blueray or hd to my knowledge.

AnyDVD HD best does the job DVD Decrypter used to do for DVDs, for Bluray.
-It's not free but the timed-trial is fully functioning and can be reset via 3rd party apps.

MakeMKV as UFO stated is great for making re-muxes, and supports common BR Disc decryption.
-This is to be paid software in the future, but it's in free beta atm.

RipBot264 is the best paralell I can draw to AutoGK, it's a similar frontend.
-Completely freeware, load of options and multiple output container options.

        • Nice Moo, cheers mate!

      • @MooGliSH: May aswell as use a crack instead of resetting the trial. DVDFab has Bluray support aswell. :P

Depends on what you want to do?

If you want to backup a BluRay movie onto hard drive lossless at full 1080p, then MakeMKV is all I use and all you need… has never let me down, is free, and only requires that you type in a code every month (published on their forum) to keep it free. It has regular updates to keep you on top of security updates for your movies, and there is absolutely no reason why you need to lug around all your discs anymore.

If you're looking to actually burn a Bluray 1 for 1 on a new Bluray disc (why you'd do that instead of just keeping it on even a portable hard drive is beyond me but anyway), then the above might suit you I guess.

But disc storage media (even BluRay) is going the way of the dodo. You can terrabytes of storage for cheap as chips (actually probably cheaper :)) with hard drives, and its only going to get cheaper.

    • Hey man thanks for this… you are a legend, i was looking for a one click solution, and yes you are right who would bother with the discs when hard drives are so cheap! Cheers
