[Preorder] The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Joy-Cons $119.95 ($69 with Joy-Con Trade-In) + Delivery (Free Pickup) @ EB Games

500

Releases July 16th. Limited edition Joycon - I'd expect this would end up pretty pricey second hand. Though it's RRP here.

$69 if you trade in old Joy Cons.

EDIT: Turns out it doesn't say "limited edition". I'd be surprised if it wasn't, but I could be wrong here.
EDIT 2: EB Games' Twitter Page does note there are limited quantities, and this is online only.

    Ooo, Skyward Sword remake incoming???

    • +3

      Yes was announced this morning

    • +4

Announced this morning - Just a HD release I'm afriad. I don't care much for it, but the Joycons looks great.

EDIT: I should note, I like Skyward sword, just already played it on Wii, and don't have a hankering for a round two that isn't even a remaster.

      • +2

They have updated it so you don't have to swing the remotes this time though. Which I'm happy for, cos I ended not playing ti for that feature when it originally dorpped.

      • By being now in HD it is a remaster. Perhaps you meant it isn't a remake.

        • Yes, that's definitely what I meant. Apologies :)

        • i don't know if that counts as a remaster. You have to at least do something to the assets outside of porting it to a different device, or else every PC version of a console game is a remaster.

          • @lostn: It does as has been for many years. Many PS3/Xbox 360 remasters where just HD versions of PS2 or xbox titles. This title is also having controls options changed as well as other things.

            • +1

@User50301: Yeah but did they slap "remastered" into the title or call it that?

Normally you have to polish up the textures, or else it's a straight up port.

Try running the Wii game in an emulator at HD. Boom. Instant remaster by your criteria.

              • @lostn: Not my criteria, I don't market and sell the game.

                • +1

@User50301: You're the one calling it a remaster though. I would just call it a port. Otherwise we'll have a ton of remasters. Every game that released on PC after the consoles would be a remaster even if no work was done to the assets.

Most devs who release a game on another console later just use the same title and if asked call it "PS4 version".

        • Nah. Pretty sure they meant dorpped

Have Nintendo fixed the whole Joy-Con drift thing or are new Joy-Cons still inflicted. I really like this design but don't really want to buy more faulty Jo-Cons.

    • So if it's faulty does eb games exchange? Or like in America where you can post it to nintendo?

      • You can ship them to Nintendo in Australia and they'll allegedly replace them out of warranty. I haven't done it yet since I they closed for COVID.

        • +1

I sent my left Joy-Con to Nintendo about a month ago. Two and half year old Switch and they fixed it under warranty/free of charge.

          • @40YearOldSturgeon: yeah but you still have to pay for postage :(

            • @poohard: Didn't cost me anything. They gave me a pre-paid label. I'm not far from the Nintendo office though, so I don't know if it's different for people out of state.

          • @40YearOldSturgeon: Just drifting issues? I have all 4 joy cons drifting, 3 of them have eventually died too.. I wonder if they will fixed the non-working ones under warranty (I'm no longer covered for sure)

            • @John: Yeah, just drifting issues. If you send them an email or call them they should be able to answer if you're covered.

        • Charged me $90 2 years back when my switch was still under warranty but I’m pretty sure they do actually do it for free (except for the postage)

    • +1

I'm conflicted. Probably the best looking joy-con set I've seen (after the OG pastels), but wouldn't buy in again with know faults, and can't justify a second set now that I've got a Pro controller as a docked controller and second.

      • Im getting it for collection purposes, will never use them.

If you want a 2nd set then just get the normal ones on sale.

These will no doubt go up in value over time

I personally have 8 sets of joy cons. LOL

        • +1

yeah, I'm trying to talk myself out of it. I have grey joycons but they are covered with a silicone dust jacket so I can't even see any print on it. I also bought the Hori pads which are more comfortable and have a real d-pad.

But I might do it also for collector's value.

Actually, you've just talked me into it. Damn it.

          • @lostn: Jsut get it yo uwont regret it, worst case you can resell it again for similar price or more

            • @SpeedRunnerLink: Sold out now. I was going to trade in but you have to go in store to do that and there was never a chance. And I don't need a spare set of joycons. But anyway I went and preordered at Amazon. I can always cancel later if this comes back.

    • they have not fixed anything. they dont even acknowledge it. also, given they made zero improvements to the switch lite version, i doubt they'll do anything further as the consoles hit their mid to late life.

you can get nintendo to fix them out of warranty but good news is, you can buy replacement sticks for like $2-5 on aliexpress / ebay etc. and its a 5 minute job to swap it.

    What is the saving ?

    • +8

Another day in my life without a comment from you <3

In terms of this though, second hand market for Nintendo limited editions items is ridiculous. And stock is usually limited. High demand, low supply, limited edition stock regularly pops up on OzBargain (a user demand driven site) with plenty of good reception. Personally, I like these sorts of alerts too, and more importantly, so do a lot of other people. So I'm happy to contribute.

If you'd rather I can post daily PS5/XSX updates?

      • -3

I think he lives here. He posts on EVERY thing. It's quite sad.

        • +19

He's like the mod we deserve, but not the mod we need.

        • +3

They're not allowed to make posts or ask questions? There's no 'saving' here. It's just nerdy hype over limited stock.

          • @cnut: Guilty of being a nerd.

          • @cnut: It's better than the Borderlands Keys free advertising that froths here.

      Princess Zelda.

  • +1

    Doesn't say it's a limited edition

    • Hmmmm, true. I'd be surprised if it isn't, though. Happy to admit I'm wrong if it turns out this is just a new base line-up product for Nintendo.

      • Probably, just to make some sales at the end of the consoles life!!

  • I'll wait for Amazon for the sweet automatic price matches.

  • as if waste your time with conjob pre-orders… this thing wont be limited. same as all the other joycon colours…

    • Hmm you really don’t know much about Zelda editions do you

      • -1

i just play em, i dont collect em… if you think this is gonna end up unobtainium like the ps5 or something, id say no way. they're joycons… also eb are a bunch of retards. probably quicker to walk into any store next door to them and get them once they're out…

  • +1

Any limited edition or Steelbook for the game?

    • I’d just pre order the game in advance at EB games as they usually are the ones that will have the pre order bonus . If they don’t have it then just refund the game on the day of launch

    • -4

Nope, there's no physical release announced for Skyward Sword HD…..eShop only. And it's $80! What a rip…. although this is Nintendo we're talking about lol.

    • Doubt they'll be anything extra for this one

  • +6

    Forgot I was on OzRRP.

    • Teehee. Nice one. I didn't realise it was RRP price ("I'd expect this would end up pretty pricey second hand. Though it's RRP here.")

      • +1

This is RRP but you’re right, they’ll go for way more online pretty soon. And then this will retrospectively look like a real bargain.

        • JB is selling it for $119…95 cents cheaper…

          ozbargain worthy? hahaha

          • +1

@Akks13: Haha, 95 cents is 95 cents. Buy 2 and you save nearly $2. Take that $2 to Crown and you could turn it into $4 or $8 by betting on black! So yeah, much better deal than this!

    • +1

I think posting stuff like this at RRP is fair enough since the price will likely go up due to limited stock. Is $119.95 not a good deal if in a few months they're $200? Obviously its all speculative as none of us know the future, but, it's Nintendo. And its Zelda. And it's a really nice looking design.

My money would be on them being sold out before release and price going up.

      • Lol noone's gonna be paying $200 for a pair of joycons, keep dreaming buddy

        • I paid $140 for a paid of Mario Odyssey red Joy-Cons. They were only released in Japan and with a special edition red switch here so definitely rare.

That was a lot cheaper than most sellers on eBay too so $200 for Zelda ones in the future isn't unheard of.

        • I mean, people were dropping like $1000+ for Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing edition consoles so $200 for these wouldn't surprise me.

But, like I said none of us know how much stock they have, how much demand there will be, etc. Just a guess.

    • Honestly it's more fun to just embrace it for the memes. Ozbargain is an echo chamber after all

  • +2

Nintendo buyers are out making even Apple buyers blush, snapping stuff up at these prices.

    • +1

Nintendo is only cheeky by comparison. AirPods Max? Monitor stand for $999US? $400 wireless earbuds? Outrageously priced desktops? Apple is shameless. I say that while using an iphone, ipad and airpods…

  • how can joycons cost this much? Is it just the print?

    • Nintendo Tax

shut up and take my money.jpg

  • How does it work exactly? Are you meant to go in store with your joycons and give it to them now with your deposit, and then wait till July?

    • Pretty sure you trade in our old one on pick up on release day.

  • =( Presold out already

  • Damn sold out already. Spent too much time deciding

    • +1

      Can still get from amazon.

      • I canceled my EB games order for Amazon. Free shipping and price match guarantee - why not?

        • +2

Plus no deposit or paying in full until release.

  • +1

I can't believe overpriced joycons for the most forgettable entry in the series sold out so quickly.

  • +1

This really is a bargain now because it presold out. Good thing I didn't hesitate this time like I did with Game n Watch.

    • +2

When it comes to zelda editions, dont hesitate.

  • I don't know if they've oversupplied but I just pre-ordered mine on JB. Had to pay delivery though because it didn't offer click + collect.
