  • Anyone with a decent peg bag/basket that won’t degrade quickly?

    • +2

I just use a drawstring bag. The key to making pegs last long is to bring them inside when not in use.

Or buy stainless steel pegs and have them for life.

        • +1

The other reason to bring them inside is they don't get covered in spiders and cobwebs.

        • Do they get hot?

          • @marmozet: Nah I've found they're too small to heat up in the sun. Central NSW in the middle of summer and no issues here. Probably because stainless is reflective.

    • Definitely not in bunnings.

    • We had this one from Bunnings for years: https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/374572893980784690/

It's cheap as and you honestly wouldn't expect it to hold up, but it survived plenty of summers and winters with zero apparant degredation. The only thing that killed it was a freak hail storm. We replaced it with a basket that looked better, but lasted only a few weeks before the hooks that helf it on the line broke. We went and got the cheapo and once again, it's held up very well.

Though I can't find them on the Bunnings site, so who knows if they sell them anymore.

    • Washing powder 6kg bucket from BigW.

    • Got this one a few years ago and it's still going strong after hanging out daily in full sun (even rain/storms haven't led to any rust!):

We got a metal one from bunnings years ago and it's held up really well

      • Yes my dad has had this one from bunnings for about 4 years.
I went with this one from BigW and prefer it because the pegs just dont fall out in the wind, rain runs through it easily and being plastic coated metal it has stood the test of time. Really can recommend these metal peg buckets.

    • I use a retired food container. lid stays on, no creepy crawlers, pegs dont degrade.

Sadly for me Reva pegs aren't the quality they once were. Still prefer these over any other plastic ones I have used and at this price still offer some great value. Just don't leave them on the line when unused.

The ikea clothes clips I got years ago are still going strong. Always left outside but still no degradation!

      • +1

Yep +1 for the Ikea pegs, literally have not had a single one break in two years leaving them on the line full time

      • Thanks both for the suggestion. Will give them a go. I'd rather a cheaper option than going stainless.

        • +1

Stainless aren't that expensive. I got 300 for $26 delivered.

Obviously more of a bulk deal than this one, but only 9c per peg vs 7c here and will last forever. I gave the excess away to family.

          • @Yarkin: Do these stop the clothes sliding on the line?
I bought ikea clear ones and they don’t pinch the line, so they end up bunched!

            • +1

@GLO: Yes they hold pretty firmly. Haven't had problems like that.

          • +1

@Yarkin: Might give these ones a try. Thanks

I believe Hegs Pegs have gone back to Australian manufacturing. Great quality peg and great design. Still going strong after 2 years whereas every single one of my kmart pegs has crumbled into dust.

Please don't buy cheap pegs people. I'm never making that mistake again. Everybody loses. It's more expensive for you in the long run. It's bad for the economy. And it's bad for the environment.

It’s so sad to see what the peg lobby has done to this country. How many more billions in taxpayer’s money siphoned off, how many more lives need to be lost before we stand up to Big Peg?!

    • We've had our hegs for years now with no signs of breaking down. Really pleased with them. Cheap pegs are only good for closing bags of food in the kitchen.
