I had an impulsive buy of the laptop for $790 fr jb hifi. It got top cpu and gpu, hence i think it's good price. However, i have a 2nd thought of getting SSD hard drive so the laptop is still sealed in the box and may get returned.

  • Where is the $790 price??

It's advert as $976 but u can haggle down to 790. It's a run out according to the sales.

That's not a bargain, that's very store and sales person specific.

      • +1

You've got to provide a receipt or something to show that it can be bought for this price. Haggling is not a deal/bargain.

    not bad… not bad…

3 months ago,i bought $850(including shipping) from shoppingexpress with blueray player + 8Gb Ram

    • Yeap that's even a better deal but cpu was the 2630QM?
How's the machine going? Do i need ext warranty just in case i want to keep it?

ATI Radeon HD 6770M 2GB GPU is a good card in a little machine.

  • Upload a receipt?

  • Ok where to find one? Otherwise not a deal obviously.

So this is just an advertisement for your surplus laptop?

    • Not at all. I was sharing information of a good deal. However, I changed my mind since wife needs faster data access.

  • BTW, I'll try to upload the receipt tomorrow…

  • If you don't need a quad core, DSE had the i5 version for $599 though the sale ends today
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC7829/hp-pavilion-dv6-6023t… , could try for a price match

    • i may be wrong, but isn't core i5 a quad core and the difference is 4 threads on 4 cores versus 8 threads on 4 cores?

Also surely DS are closed by 10pm when you posted this reply?

      • It's a dual-core to be precise mate.

      • You're thinking of the desktop CPUs. All mobile i5s are 2 duals with 4 threads.

        • ok thanks.

  • Without a receipt this is clearly NOT a deal… However if our friendly op gets it up one day… I might be tempted!

  • Hi all,

I already uploaded the receipt. ATM, it somehow still shows the url? Needs time to update? I uploaded twice and it's the same. Please let me know if it's an okay deal, good deal, great deal or even no deal. If you're happy with the deal, can you please remove the negs and + away? Otherwise, I'll raise my standard before posting heheh :) Happy new year guys!

  • Ok i got this error message after trying to upload again: Cannot change URL to a different domain than jbhifi.com.au. If it really needs to be done, please contact a moderator. Here's direct path to receipt: http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/12/27/7488_delete_please.jp…

  • Has anyone else been able to buy at this price?

I checked at Rundle Mall, Adelaide and the sales rep said it was a Boxing Day sale only, and that lowest he was willing to offer was $990.

    Anybody been more lucky? :(

    • Heheh he's bluffing. I got the 790 quote before xmas. But got hyped in boxing day n eventually bought. Sales said it's $200 below cost but sold it anyway. After reading shoppingexpress deal i reckon this is a good deal but not the best.
