Thermaltake TT Premium Pacific A1 DDR4 RAM Water Block $59 + Delivery ($0 mVIP/ C&C) @ Mwave or Back-Order @ Amazon AU

131

Was looking for a waterblock after buying the patriot ram and found this very heavily discounted, (usually above $100).

I got the last one in stock @ Amazon though they are still allowing for backorder, otw Mwave still have them in stock

The waterblock itself feels well made

Save a further $59 by not wasting your time and money cooling something that doesn’t need it

So now when people don’t have waterblocks for their ram is now not an over clocker? Nice gatekeeping.

          • +9

@ln28909: Anyone can gatekeep as well bro, if you don’t use liquid nitrogen or submerge entire rig in non conductive oil, it’s not over clocking.

Holy sh1t, no wonder some people think the OC community is toxic af.

This post would’ve done good without the gatekeeping but you just can’t help yourself eh.

          • +4

@ln28909: I hope nobody tells this guy that he could've actually just got a fan on top of his RAM for better results.

            • @[Deactivated]: lol for sure

              • @ln28909: Absolutely. Well and truly tested.

Also, as an ex-pro overclocker (when atomic used to run competitions).

Getting cheap but easy results is now Super simple.

LN2 blowthrough into a radiator works cheaply.

Or, if you're chasing a score (which you are) and don't want to play with LN2.
Get yourself a nice big Styrofoam box, line it with dry ice.

Blow all the air out with any dry gas, to remove risk of condensation, seal, and benchmark.

                Simple.

Ddr4 really doesn't need more than a fan until you 1.65v, and at that point, you're really risking both amd and Intel memoty controllers goin pop.

                • -2

@MasterScythe: Like I said I'm not doing sub ambient cooling, that's too expensive for me

The option is either gets fans and figure out how to mount them to cool the ram or just add the ram waterblock to my current loop

The choice was pretty easy to make

And we get to the point now where you actually need to actively cool the vram on the gpu so this block is like a 2 in 1

          • +1

            @ln28909:

1 spot for what reason? you don't get anything, the rank means absolutely nothing. no one cares if you wasted money on your computer

        • -2

It’s like In28909 just got #MeToo’d by slowmo over having controversial opinions on memory cooling. Rofl. 🙄

          • +4

@tedzr: Dude. I don’t care what memory cooling options he does. I took issue with him thinking that “uR n0t oVErcLoCkIng if you don’t have a memory cooling solution!” Comment.

Tf , I have been overclocking before heat sinks for memory chips were a thing.

Btw MeToo movement started about rape and sexual assault , so I am not sure what parallels are you trying to draw here.

            • @slowmo: I remember overclocking back in the days of covering the contacts with tape on the Pentium 4 and when lapping heat sinks was the thing to do and artic paste was the best thing around XD. Definately waterblock is not needed for ram. Fan is enough. Prob end up more based on aethetics in the end.

          • @tedzr: Epic #MeToo ownage dude, you really told them.

All you've shown is how trivial some dipshits think #MeToo is. Disgusting.

            • -1

@[Deactivated]: Hey dudes, #MeToo is hardly trivial, just like In28909's assertion that this "memory cooling is crucial if you want to push 1.5V or more". That's a real outrage obviously.

              Gatekeeper. Lol.

I think that In28909 probably has 'My Brothers Memory Keeper' tattooed across his back.

      • -1

dont know why you getting so many hate when you just telling the truth. after all this is a budget place, not OC forum i guess.

  • everything is relative….and ram cooling is for a minority. good airflow is sufficient for most

    • Ram cooling is like memory cooling. You don’t actually want it too cool or it doesn’t work well.

  • will it make my ram cooler if I set the colour to blue?

  • +9

Even extreme overclockers just point a fan at their ram, pointless product, buy for looks only.

    • +16

The purpose of the neg vote is for the deal, not because you don't think the product is necessary. Seems like a heavy discount to me, good for someone after the looks.

      • +1

Exactly. You wouldn't go round negging RGB fans that do the same thing as cheaper plain ones, this is 90% for fun.

      • +3

Removing ram heatsinks have a chance of ripping dram modules off the PCB killing your ram stick. Risky, pointless product.

        • +4

That's up to the person purchasing.

As said above, negs are for the deal, not for the product.

          • +7

@Schmiddler: "Issue with product" is a valid reason to neg a deal, its in the voting guidelines.

            • +2

@goig986: The product works as intended, you just don't feel that's it's necessary. That's fine, and I'm inclined to agree with you, but at the end of the day that decision falls on the person considering the purchase.

              • +6

@Schmiddler: it does NOT work as intended, thermaltake's intention (pulled straight from their marketing page) is "ensuring superior performance, stability and longer lifespan for your RAM" which is a complete and utter lie. https://youtu.be/vhkYcO1VxOk?t=334

                • +2

@goig986: It is though, it’s to take money out of your pocket to theirs.

  • Lol

  • +11

So many toxic people here wow. It's Sunday go out and do something.

    • +1

      My thoughts too 🤣

    • Misleading advice is misleading though and does deserve to be called out. When people are going for OC record even then they rarely watercool the memory…

      • -1

Because most overclockers run port royal lol

I don't understand why everyone is so mad, watercooling is better than air cooling, period

How much better and whether it is worth it are a different story

        • Do you also waterblock cool your SSD?

          • @ATangk: I couldn't, I run dual gpu vertically so there's no room for it

I really want to cool the x570 chipset but those are too exy

        • -1

          Everybody is mad because:
          1) What you said was untrue, you do not need watercooling on your memory to overclock. Although you did caveat 1.5v which I cannot speak to and incidentally nobody directly addressed.
          2) Your language was mildly confrontational "Clearly not an overclocker lol".
          3) You were labelled a 'Gatekeeper' by slowmo which quickly garnered likes as you garnered negs, basically inciting a mob-like cascade to downvote you.

          I think 1 & 2 are pretty clear, 3 is my interpretation.

Pretty silly really. Personally, I throughout you were undeserving of such a harsh reaction hence my wading into the confrontation in a completely inappropriate way. I did this to prove to strangers on the internet that IDGAF while being simultaneously conscientious towards the plight of a mistreated stranger.

            @tedzr:

            1. Test it and see for yourself

            2. Well if the guy could have asked why instead of making a blatant statement given his lack of knowledge, I could have helped him understand

            3. Ozbargainers like to downvote lol

    • i am outside.

dont you get wifi at your beach?

      • I posted that from my boat at the beach 😉
