Scroll all the way down to the bottom under help you would find size guide

Its at least 1 size larger than normal. I usually wear M or S size but SX with Macpac. Hope that helps!

      • What's SX?

Not sure if I am missing something but one size larger means if a person wears S or M, one size up for him is L not SX.

        • +1

If clothes one size larger than normal, you would need to wear one size smaller than you would normally.

          • +1

@itstuan: Yes got it now, I misunderstood, I thought you need 1 size larger than normal. My bad :)

  • Prices just short of free delivery :(

How does macpac go size wise? Is anyone able to compare with hunters element sizing?

    • I usually wear XL but have found their sizes bit bigger, so L is better in macpac for me

Just paid for mine with a pair of socks. The down jacket shows 96 after you add it to the basket.

      • Same. Joined up and 11.97 for the socks

Shame they don't have charcoal or navy, probably the two most versatile outerwear colours next to black (so not sure why they don't offer them).

    • They did earlier on in the sale. I got a navy one last week. Sale has been on for a while now.

    This or the Halo jacket?

    .

    • What's the difference? Halo is 600, vs this 650 loft RDS duck down.

    • +1

Halo has more fill weight and more warmer compared to this one. you can read under specs about down filling weight. have the halo one.

      • Thank you!

        .

      • Why is this more expensive? RRP is higher?

    • Pulled the trigger on the halo one… the price come to 103.20 after discount.

      https://www.macpac.com.au/mens-halo-hooded-down-jacket/11424…

    • I've seen both in person and this looks much nicer. Similar fill.

  • Are these the cheapest it’s been?

  • Thanks, picked one up.

Is this a step above the popular version we see for $99 often?

    • Yes it has more fill

      • Can explain the fill weight of 137g for this one vs 219g fill weight for the halo?

I think the Halo will be the warmer jacket. This is 650 fill power vs 600 of the halo but the halo has significantly more fill. This jacket will compress more though.

Have seen plenty of posts for both halo and Uber light. I spoke with the sales team at Macpac, Enfield, SA. Going by their information alone they ranked Uber light the least warm followed by then halo then Mercury hooded. That's based solely on the information supplied by them. I've tried on all three and feel the Mercury hooded was the most comfortable and felt quite filled without the excess bulk look of the halo. Hopefully the information they told me was correct.

          • @BIGMAV: Maybe the quality of the fill makes a difference, I mean the RRP is a bit higher.

I doubt it's as simple as one has more fill, there must be more to it and must make sense if that's what an employee has mentioned. I spose it's be easier if you've seen both and tried them on! Haha

@[Deactivated]: I just spoke to the staff at my local Macpac and they ranked warmness Uber Light < Mercury < Halo, which I’m inclined to believe as the chart instore corroborated.

The fill quality in the Mercury is better, but the Halo has massively more of it.

Just picked up a Mercury for myself (I wanted the Halo but it’s cut a bit short and I’m kinda tall), and the wife picked up a Halo.

              Thanks OP!

  • not available for delivery - wtf.

  • Ordered one with a kid's pack jacket for another $30 .. thanks op.

  • great

  • Thanks op.. my wallet is 500 dollars lighter… thdy had some good deals!

  • I used up my gift cards. Thanks for help.

  • Thanks grabbed the Uber Light down jacket for $79 as it's a bit lighter for hiking (240g vs 390g) and I didn't want a hood. (plus some other stuff for free shipping)

  • Thanks OP, got the Macpac Uber hooded down and one of their geothermal short sleeve t-shirts for $104 delivered.

  • Be careful with the sizes. I'm usually a M or L, but my size in-store for a powder jacket was S.

get rid of this polyester / cotton junk - it is pure landfill. go with Merino wool fabrics such as Icebreaker or support Purely Alpaca and get alpaca / eg https://purelyalpaca.com/collections/alpaca-jackets-and-alpa…

    A hell of a difference

    • polyester/cotton junk" is "pure landfill" - it depends what you're after. For sleeping bags down is nice (much more compressible/lighter than synthetic for the same warmth) but for puffy jackets synthetic is good if you might get wet walking (brushing against lots of vegetation after rain). Some might say down is not so ethical compared to synthetic fill (though I think many of these down jackets use down adhering to Responsible Down Standard). Merino is great as a baselayer but doesn't hold up as a wind layer, or as the outermost layer if you're bush bashing and getting your clothes caught on laywervine etc! Different materials for different purposes.

  • Don't forget CashRewards!!!

  • I got one of these at the start of the sale in India ink. True to size compared with Katmandu which run small. Much better quality. If you are looking for a lighter everyday jacket, they have Uber light for $79 clams. Buy a kids long sleeve t-shirt for $12 to get you over $100.

    • Yeh india ink looks better than the black with fluorescent yellow..

  • Thanks, stocked up for a cold Melbourne winter!

Thanks delivered today. Yep one size down was the correct call!

  • The men’s sizes run a bit small, although I picked up an S which isn’t necessarily too far off - I did fit an XS though if it weren’t for the jacket length (I am a bit tall).

Be warned though the women’s sizes seem to run big, wife had to buy a Halo in a size larger than she normally buys.
