5% Cashback at Apple & Apple Education Stores (No Cap, Was 1.5%) @ Cashrewards

2110

Greetings everyone, I reached out to TA to see if there were any expected increases recently to combine with the current Airpods deal at Apple and he advised of this great offer :)

Another great increase for Apple, and an awesome addition with the inclusion of the education store for further discounts.

Even better is that heaps of SKUs have now been cleared for Cashback, including the M1 Macbook, iPhones, iPads and other items.

If you're looking to purchase multiple items, I'd recommend to make separate purchases and click through CR each time just in case you want to return one.

Damn, I knew this would happen. Bought a mac mini just last week damn it!

    • +2

This is the deal with OzBargain. Buy something when the price is good, and then see an even better deal later on. Without OzBargain there would be blissful ignorance of a lower price hahaha

    • Same here, I bought a MacBook Air about 2 weeks ago! Grrrr

    • +3

Buy this and return the other one with 14 days no question returns, provided you got it from apple store.

    • -1

Mac mini doesn’t come with free air pods?
Why did you choose the mini and not the Air?

      • It's for a client. Yeah, spewing no air pods with the mini.

  • Am I imagining this? It does not look like the iPhone 12 Pro or the Series 6 Apple Watch are excluded?
Someone pinch me if I am wrong.

    • +1

Yep both are included in the offer :)

      • +3

WOW. The day that iPhones get cashback!

      • Damn!

I have never seen this happen before. Latest generation Apple devices always used to get excluded from this type of deals in the past.
This is way better than buying a plan decoupled iPhone 12 Pro from 3scammers. 😜

Just double checking - iPhone 12 Pro Max will also be included?

        Thank you, OP.

        • +2

Definitely something rare lol. But 100%, everything except for the exclusions above is included for cashback. So all iPhone models are included (as of today).

  • -2

nice, now stack with staff discount = win

    • What is the staff discount?

        • This is incorrect.

    • +4

      You can't use employee discount.

    • +9

This is Cashrewards, not Shopback 😜🤣

        • +5

If you need a tutorial on how to use CR, I am happy to provide you with one. It is really easy should only take 15 seconds to run you through it!

          • @solidice: Thanks mate, it's not that I had to chase all of 'em, just few of them..what I don't like is people keep basing you if your comments are not in favor of CR or if its in favor of SB, something funny there….

            • +1

@DaveD: well, I didn't neg you but I'm just in favour of CR, just in hate of SB

  • Thanks OP. Wanting to get the iPad air and free airpods before it expires but now extra $40 discount is event better.

  • I apologize if it’s obvious for some. How can I be eligible for Apple education store?

    • To be eligible you need current proof of enrolment or have signed up for student beans as they allow you to maintain "Student status for 3 years"*.

Though you don't need anything to actually buy from Apple Edu… but if your just the unlucky one to get at audited randomly they will charge you the difference on your card since it click and collect only or delivery.

      *it got removed recently lol

      • +1

Has anyone on OZB ever been audited?

      • Why can't we use a card that's about to expire, or tell the bank that you lost the card so they'll send you a new one with new numbers?

      • If they audit, will they request the student card to be sent through email or will i be asked when i click & collected instore?

        • Last time, I got 2 Ipads in 2018 I just showed my drivers licenses for pick up granted to you I am still in my early 20s.

  • Have been umming and aaring about a MacBook Air - this seals the deal!

    • Same

      • +1

You be Russian to get it now

        • Bought one this morning!! :D

    • Air or Pro?
      I can’t decide..

      • +1

Depends on your usage, but the M1 Air is 95% as good as the Pro, for $400 less.

        • This. Unless you’re consistently running pro apps, you won’t miss the fan and extra core on the Pro. Better off upgrading to 16GB RAM.

          • +2

@Ozymandias: Even the 16GB is pretty useless … (maybe worth it for virtualization and extensive movie work) … I have just a 8GB (coming from a 32GB machine) and it's absolutely fine. Rather save the money and upgrade faster.

            • +3

@mini_wombat: For others wondering what the performance of these M1 laptops are like…

I have a spec'd out MacBook Pro 16" INTEL - ordered 6 months ago and a new MacBook Air M1 8GB. The M1 Air (1/4 the price) in most respects kills the old laptop. Any apps optimised for the M1 (macOS, zipping, transcoding, video editing, or anything with a M1 native app) blow my mind. It's amazing the air is so light, slim, and seriously generations above the MacBook Pro I spent 6K on last year.

And the battery on this thing is seriously amazing.

              • @pro: I just went through hours of reviews to see if the air or the pro was worth it …
I ended up with the base air instead and hopefully video editing is gonna be buttery smooth in fcpx vs my 2017 MacBook Pro!

        • Thanks all. Looks like Air is better value.

  • Does anyone know if the 5% is based on the RRP and not the price before GST? Sister wants an iPhone 12 Pro now lol

    • Before GST.

    • From "cashback tips": You may not earn Cashback on GST, freight, delivery fees and taxes.

  • When does it end? I am trying to purchase using AE card but the free screen insurance only comes into effect for purchases on or after 25th Feb.

    • As per the post, 11:00pm 22nd to 11:00pm 26th Feb.

      • Ah sorry I didn't realise the end date is at the bottom. Thanks.

        • Is this a recent change to Amex ?

I know it covers phones but didn’t know about laptops.

          • @HardQuiz: I am after the phone. I don't think it covers laptops.

            • @ymmf: What’s the free insurance that starts 25th ?

It was always free up to $500.

              • @HardQuiz: It was advertised to me as a new benefit for platinum edge cards.

  • Pretty good. I imagine a similar 5% or so will come up again in the coming months. Not ready to pull the trigger tomorrow, but am starting to feel a twitch for a 12.

  • F.

    One day too late.

  • +1

If anyone interested in the pro app bundle for education, this is your chance.
I claimed cashback on it last time :P

  • It starts in 10 mins? Or do we have to wait until after mid night?

    • Starts at midnight AEDT, so need to wait for another hour.

  • I wish the eighth generation iPad was included :(

    • Why not get an air? It legit a "lite" clone of the pro.

  • CR didn’t track my MacBook Air purchase 4weeks ago, maybe because there was a shipping delay of 3/4 weeks on the 16GB??
Only tracked the AirPods 2 :(

    • It might still track as per the following guideline if it took 3/4 weeks to ship:

Cashback tracks to member accounts between 2-7 days after you receive confirmation from Apple that the product has been shipped.

      • Yep, I’ll give another 5days before following up with CR

    • Happened to me. I spoke to CR customer support and they manually updated my account to add the cashback.

      • Thank you! I’ll chase up

  • Would the cashback work if I opt to trade in my existing iPhone?

    • want to know this too…

    • +1

you're better off selling your old iPhone for more $$$ :)

  • Hi, I have an Apple Gift card. Can I use it at the check out and is it eligible for cashback? Is ordering online but picking up in store eligible for cashback? Thank you,

    • +1

“ You may not be eligible for Cashback:
If a gift card is purchased or used as payment.”

      • Thanks. I didn’t see it.

  • With tax calculations, isn't the 600 or 700 gift card deal on JB still better than this? Also counting suncorp 5% off cards for the remainder amount for an iPhone 12 pro max.

  • +4

Don't be surprised if this doesn't get honoured, I had over $2500 worth of Apple claim denied with no explanation except from they can't see it on their system…

    • Return it (apple refund policy) and buy it again.

  • would this stack with student discount?

    • If you are buying from the Apple EDU store, other than the 8% off what additional student discounts would you be entitled to?
It isn't like Apple provides a voucher code field during the checkout process.

  • Did anyone else get a pending authorisation for $249 for the airpods on their card after placing the order?

    • +1

It didn't show up earlier immediately after the purchase but now it is showing for me as well.

If you check the confirmation email from Apple they might charge the Airpods $249 and then credit the iPad $249.

      • Airpods have shipped, still a pending $249 charge on my CC.

        • +3

Yeah my guess is that they might worry that you keep the airpods and cancel the ipad air after receiving it. When they ship the ipad air they would then charge the difference. Hope that makes sense. Just don’t open the airpods until the price is right. You can always ask for a full refund by returning the original items untouched.

          • @DarkOz: Cashrewards have tracked only the AirPods as well so far ($11.32}…

  • Any thoughts on the memory? Worth paying more to upgrade to 16GB? For example on the Macbook Air M1.

    • From all the reviews I've seen (and there's been a LOT), 8GB of RAM on the M1 is plenty for general use, and even heavy use.

    • +6

Always good to future proof. You’ll be using this machine for many years.

    • Update: based on these comments and a reddit thread, I've decided to stick to 8GB. $270 doesn't seem like too much but from what I can tell 8GB really will be ample. I'm not planning to do any far-out usage.

  • Does click and collect affect the cashback?

    • +1

Click and collect doesn't affect the cashback. I have done it for the last 8% promotion for an iPhone 11 and got the cashback already. However, they might check for your student ID on the spot and that's why I elected for delivery.

      • your student ID on the spot and that's why I elected for delivery.

Are you saying there is no check whatsoever when ordering online (with postal delivery) from the Apple EDU Store? 🤯

        • I heard that they might do an audit by contacting you to verify your student ID but you don’t have to pick up the call or reply the email, right? The worst thing to happen is the purchase gets cancelled.

          • @DarkOz: The purchase isn’t cancelled. If student ID cannot be verified during the audit, I believe they charge your original payment method an additional amount to make up the difference to full price.

            • @Goondocker: I doubt they would do that. There is nothing to stop the customer from seeking a full refund if they do. That would be very bad business for Apple.

  • Looks good, thanks for posting. I was looking at getting the 21.5" iMac retina 4K display with the 512GB upgrade. It says it's unavailable though, only the standard 256GB is in stock, as is the 1TB Fusion Drive option.

I was looking in the last few days and the 512GB version was available for delivery.

Does anyone have an idea about how long it would take for it to be available again?

  • What’s a good price for an iPhone 12 mini 128gb? Don’t need it until late May though…

  • Tis a real shame that we can't get the M1 Mac Mini from the edu store.

    • You can though? I just got one.

      • Unreal, thanks for clarifying, I stand corrected. Can you post the link pretty please? All I see on the EDU store are the laptops and the iPads. This is the link I've been using - https://www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/back-to-school

        • +1

          Here :)

Clicking through from CR, just go to "Mac" and then you'll see Mac Mini under the product listing at the top half way along.

          • @doweyy: Beauty, cheers mate.
Only a $30 saving ($1,099) (& $30 saving if I upgrade the RAM too). So instead of $1,400 it's $1,340 delivered (then $67 cashback if that works out). TGG had the base M1 mini for $999 a while ago too.

        • +1

Yeah, I thought the same, from that link if you Mac from the top menu and then click mac and mac mini you should see the EDU prices.
          256GB - $1069
          512GB - $1369
          Or try this link: https://www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/buy-mac/mac-mini

  • How do the cashback exclusions work? If I were to get an iPhone 12 Pro and a HomePod Mini, would they calculate cashback on the iPhone or invalidate the whole transaction because HomePod is included?
