    ChromeCast with Android TV

i think the correct name is

    ChromeCast with GOOGLE TV

    • Ta. You are correct!

  • FYI Regarding the Ultra refurb: I bought from Kogan during the free shipping sale. Mine came with a third party USB power plug, and a third party USB Ethernet injector. It works fine, but it isn't the first-party unified cable that you'd be expecting to come with the Ultra.

  • Chromecast with Google TV showing $98.

EDIT: didn't realise the discount was applied "in" latitude pay. my bad

Anyone else getting sick of these deals where you need to use buy now, pay later?

Why the hell would I want the hassle of splitting an $80 payment in 4?

    • +1

I think you can pay it all at once, you just need to make an "extra" payment to latitude of the whole amount.

    • +1

I thought the same, but as the payment is automatically taken from my VISA (the card I would have used anyway) it makes no difference to me.

Would be a very different story if I had to manually do something. Like most on ozbargain, I only use latitude when promotions are offered.

    • Does Latitude pay charge you any fees?

      • +2

        No.

I got a Chromecast with Google TV recently to replace a MiBox and must say I'm very impressed. Much smoother experience overall and better video streaming quality. MiBox still works OK (has been demoted to bedroom use in our house), but if I had to choose one it would be the new Chromecast with Google TV.

    • We just signed up to Disney+ today before they increased their rates although our 2015 TV does not have their app. I dont like casting through my phone or even via my laptop. If I get the Chromecast with Google TV, will apps be running in the chromecast device or will I still need to cast using my mobile/laptop? TIA

      • havnt got one myself, but i think the idea is that the chromecast w. google tv is to avoid that downside of the original chromecasts, being able to install applications and run them using its remote.

        • That sounds correct based on a review I just read. Now I am wondering though about its advantages over an Amazon Fite TV stick lite. Both seems to be able to run the streaming services so it sounds like both meet our requirements.

          Anyway, thanks for your response!

@sigplay: yeh for straight forward purposes fire stick would do fine, but id assume this chromecast unlocks (majority?) of the playstore to be able to install a number of apps for different purposes

      • +1

All the apps are on the device and you do not need your phone at all as it has it's own remote. You can even install Kodi and run any addons like you can with a MiBox.

      • Update: We purchased the Chromecast with Google TV and set it up today. Not the fastest interface but our TV is probably slower so no issues there. Seeing your content across multiple platforms is good though it doesnt look like you can have multiple profiles. This means recommendations for all users will be jumbled together. All in all, not bad for $78. Thanks OP

Aaaah……I totally forgot they sold beer. Bugger the electronics .

    • any recommendations?

I went for the Pirate Life. Yes, they are only cartons of 16 but they are a good drop and the price is already discounted or below rrp.

  • Does Chromecast with Google TV still come with the Netflix promo - something like $50 credit ?

  • Price match at Officeworks ?
