After 12% discount $281.60 on Harris Technology in eBay (eBayPlus member)
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AMD-RYZEN-5-3600-100-100000031MP…

Price match can be done through Customer Care eBay and receive extra 5% on Amazon price ($283.33).

    • trying to work out how to do this! I can't see the 12% discount on ebay as ebay plus member hmmm..

      • Refer to original Coupon ozbargain thread. Must pay with Afterpay or pay whole amount using gift cards (and selecting Afterpay for the remaining $0 :P )

    • I ordered a mouse off eBay and tried to price match + 5% with Amazon and they just plain out refused to because it was under RRP on both places

All the supply issues are over and there's about to be some new Intel alternatives. Prices should be getting gooder over the next 6 weeks

    • +3

Really, where did you get that info from?

    • +5

On top of it, Australian dollar is appreciating so we can expect lower prices long term on all imports.

      • Can we go back to the time when Dollaroos was higher than US$? Say…2012!

        • +9

The glorious 1:1 of 2013, where the same laptop in AUS was 999 but 699 in the US, and thanks to the dollar, you got a mega bargain.

          • @dbmitch: The year when shopkeepers grinned sheepishly while justifying their markup.

            • @Bunnyburger: Yeah, I laughed when Officeworks didn't price match NewEgg. So Newegg gets a sale.

These days thou, Don't even bother with tech for a while, prices accross the board are just so out of wack.

    • Hope so. It's been crazy

    • +7

Things get better but they never get gooder.

      • +5

        They get gooderer though

        • +6

          They get gooderer though

…which we all know is even betterer.

          • +1

            @CamM: Betterest?

            • @Nomad2233: Can't hold my laughter any more as I see your reply😂

              • @WayneOZ: My English has always been pathetic…even for a native English speaker hahahaha. Luckily I do math for a job 😂

      • +2

        More gooder my dear fellow.

        • +1

          Can’t get worsera

thats not going to happen…….Intel might be cheaper but they are OLD tech

I'm ready to buy a new CPU but I'm gonna wait for the new Intel range for this reason.

    • Supply issues over? Link?

    • Will wait as well as for the new intel 11th Gen.

As my CPU is def bottlenecking my GTX 1650 Super for 1080P games such as cyberpunk 2077 & new CODs.

      Gaming Config:
Intel Core i5-4570S @ 3.60Ghz (I set it to always run at Max Turbo Frequency)
      16GB RAM DDR3
      GeForce GTX 1650 Super (4GB)

      • Playing games like cyberpunk and COD you are going to need something a bit more than a 1650S even on 1080P. If anything you should upgrade your GPU instead of the CPU mah dude.

        • Thank you for the advise actually further tests show they are both a bottleneck :-)

As originally was getting CPU 100% & GPU 70-80% but after lowering Shadow/SSR which must have been using the CPU I got bottlenecked on the GPU (Eg. CPU 80% & GPU 100%).

(So upgrading the CPU will fix lag spikes as it's dropping to like 5-10fps when playing with medium shadow/SSR enabled then going back up to 40-50fps but won't allow me to use high settings for others due to GPU limitation)

    • That's exactly what everyone said when 3000 series got announced

hope I can get 5600x at this price range next year

  • price looks cheapest thanks op

  • Is this better than 3700x?

    • +11

      Is 7>6?

    • +4

No, the 3700X has more cores/threads and clocks higher than the 3600. The 3600 is a very well balanced and great value CPU at this price. The 3700X is not a great value CPU anymore, even the 10700K from Intel sometimes drops cheaper.

      • -1

What's an AMD CPU that is on par with 3700X that is better value?

        • +13

          A 3700X on sale

  • +1

$270 + delivery a few days ago but it does seem that prices are coming down so that's great!

  • +2

This is still a bad deal compared to 10400F

    • +3

I find intel motherboards to be a bit more expensive though.

    • +6

you get a decent upgrade path with this cpu

    • +2

For my brothers gaming PC I went with 10400F + B460 wifi as it was a considerable amount cheaper than 3600 + B450 wifi. While I can't run the ram at higher mhz I just lowered CL to compensate.

  • If I wanted a complete package that included a mobo, ram and CPU where would be the best place to buy it?

$285 with free shipping - I believe edozer is banned from ozbargain but seems span related from what I can research.

Edit: pair with this and it’s a pretty good set up

  • why does this cpu keep going on sale? Where are the 3700 and x's?

  • +1

If you are wanting to buy AMD, wait a month, if you are able to. Intel is releasing 11th gen on March 15th, and with improving supply from AMD prices will start to decrease. There is also the possibility that AMD will release Ryzen 5000 non X sku’s (these will be much better value)to counter Intel.

If you are going Intel there are some awesome deals at the moment. I’m starting to regret buying the B550 motherboard I have collecting dust while I wait for decent prices.

  • I couldn't help noticing that price's dropped to $281.64. Has this got something to do with $AUD breaking the 80 US cent barrier?

  • need to wait a month from US to AU?
