I looked at TV's the last month, and this is the normal price I have seen for this TV in three DS stores in Perth.

Keep in mind this is a 50Hz unit.

    • ooops sorry then. Their ad claims this is a sale. Are they lying?

      • Nah, good for ths masses :)

It's an ok TV, if you can live with the 50Hz.

how bad is 50Hz really? i mean under wat situations will I feel the diff? I haven't owned a TV for years… also, $698 for the 40" or $777 for the 46"?

        • @diabloyang - you will notice smoother scrolling text across the screen with 100Hz and above. Also smoother motion when viewing sports, fast action scenes and video games. It is definitely worth spending a bit more to have 100Hz.

        • Mainly noticeable with wide panning scenes and overhead/aerial shots. Uses motion interpolation to guess where the next frames should be and inserts them. Occasionally gets it wrong but I like it on movies.

        • i thought the post processing on games makes it laggy, especially when playing online

Hmm, another stimulating essentially clueless 100Hz conversation.

100Hz derp de derp. Derp de 50Hz derpity derpy derp. Until one day, 200Hz derpa derpa derpaderp. Derp de derp, da teedily dumb. :p

  • God; so cheap for a decent TV. The masses wont even notice that it's only 50Hz - Great Buy for most!

does this come preloaded with movies aswell?

  • Anyone know of a Samsung LED TV that is 46" that is at least 100HZ - 200HZ.Price around $1000 to $1100 or close to it or if you know where to buy it for under a $1000. The only cheapest price I find find is from Top buy which is $1,195 for a SAMSUNG Series 6 46inch LED TV (UA46D6000)

    • I am looking for the same thing= the 46 inch LED series 7. Hoping that the bloke from thecableconnection.com.au will offer an ozbargain special.

if you find anything let me know.

a packet of chips was cheaper a few years ago.

    • been burnt by sony have you? i put a pun in there!

    • The Quattron has very mixed reviews - the one on display in Harvey Norman Martin Place Sydney looks like crap. Very poor picture quality - worst set on display…

      • -1

I looked at the Sharp Quatron 70inch set on display. and not really impressed comparing it to samsungs 64inch plasma. also 64inch $2000 cheaper

        • -2

          I looked at a Beovision 10 - very nice tv - lot more expensive than $850 - wasn't 50hz either - or a sONY - must be crap then.

      Are you high?

  • i got this tv for the oldman for fathers day for $1200 in sept…at the time it wasn't worth paying $500 extra for 100hz and 3D for the ex720 model. Plays xvids fine via usb…even ps3media server works fine

    • even ps3media server works fine

A Sony PS3 media server works? on a Sony tv?

Just to add slightly, i use this with windows streaming, it usually works, (you may need Servio a free third party media server program).

Also iview tv app is awesome. havnt tried any of the other channels (NBN, SBS etc)

Does anyone here actually browse the internet on their TV?

    If so… why?

    • +1

      I got this TV
Tried the web browser, it's rubbish.
      YouTube and sbs is good.

    • i thought the whole point was smart tv = wi-fi built in = dlna = media streaming through electronics ecosystem

    • Using the built in browser generally isn't a good idea. Web standards change very frequently, and unless Sony regularly updates the browser users will find an increasing number of sites that do not render correctly. Plus there's the malware issue. Security holes are found in IE, Firefox, etc all the time, so it's likely the same situation applies to Sony's browser.
