If you've never used a proper file hosting service for uploading and downloading, you don't what you are missing out on. I am pulling down a consistant 8MB/sec to 10MB/sec using Optus Cable (speedpack) and 10 or 12 download threads at once.

Even a single file is coming down at over 1MB/sec - of course this is limited by your own internet connection, but it's usually heaps faster than the typical speeds of other hosting methods, especially Peer-based ones. Plus it's very reliable and less likely to have "bad stuff", and the downloads are resumable.

Anyway, if you already use this kind of service and understand what it's for, it's a massive saving. If you don't understand, or if you prefer to use other services then that is fine too. For people like me who subscribe to use it anyway, this is a great deal.

          The one that I am using a lot lately is "World's Largest Megaupload Only Community"

          Must register - then find the "Sync Lists" in each section - and use a "Link Decrypter" (google for it) to speed things up.

          Main advantage is - no duplicate threads! Every post and topic is moderated and sorted, so if there is multiple copies (eg: variants, different resolutions) they still appear in the one thread. Makes finding stuff a breeze.

          @Llama: That forum is a joke. So first you buy premium at megaupload. Then you have to "donate" to get VIP at that website if you want to download stuff properly >.<

          You're better off just going with fileserve or filesonic if you're going to use that forum for megaupload imho. Save yourself some money?

          EDIT: Yes you can post alot and use their link decrypting system, but it's still a pain.

          @Samfisher: Dunno. Not too impressed with the content at that website.

          @raven2000 - you actually just have to register, it's quite good you just have to get set up right. it will download each item one at a time and all the links will work if you just want to stream. I'm very impressed with it - has everything i watch/need.

    Mega were much cheaper with the previous owners and when they were in USA dollars!! Doesn't anyone remember? They are expensive now. I use a different one , if you want it PM me , its much more popular now and unlike Mega who have STOPPED paying referrals out , this one is still paying and is one of the most popular used on a big movie site. I use filesonic for files they are pretty good.

        Even 8 months ago. As soon as the new owners took over and converted it to Euros it jumped 50% or more. And on top of that they dumped the referrals with some message "we are reviewing it" that message was there for months. Don't get me wrong I love Mega quality,its the best and dl speeds are awesome but they screwed it up. Now you have places like PL making a killing with there not so bad quality, speed and the old prices of Mega and on top of it PL have the referrals going which is why they are number 1 site on a massive movie site I belong to. It used to be Mega were the best but not anymore. People want the quality but alot want those referrals, why else would the Uppers do it?

    55-60% off? more like 10%. Also they use to charge in usd which was much cheaper now they charge in euros. Its more like 55-60% increase. Filesonic, wupload and various other sites are way cheaper.

    I would not recommend buying more than a year voucher, as the popularity between different file hosting sites is always changing between uploaders and you never know when a site may come under legal fire like hotfile.com did.

      I would buy 1-3 months, 6 months if you are feeling lucky.

      For example, Fileserve could become useless in a month because of what they are doing, we don't know.

      Rapidshare became useless, now people are using them again.

      Its a big mystery because there is no superior host anymore.

        I made mistake and purchased 1 year with fileserve 6 months ago… man that was a mistake. Got the ban hammer in November for a few days for "excessive downloading".

        Since mid December to now its been pretty heavy from my end and no punishment xD

        But in all honesty 6 months is absolute max anyone should purchase!

        I don't know about you, but I max my connection speed on most torrents anyway (I'm not an idiot using public trackers with no seeds). I also get free usenet from Internode. What does megaupload possibly have to offer to me?

          It depends what kind of files you need, its hard to know if Usenet is better or not since its been a while since I've used it. Obviously for new release files both are equal.

          But for example I needed to download "Being Erica Season 1 720p" for a friend recently.

          It looks like Usenet users would have access to that, is that right?

          If so then they are probably similar for rare files as well.

          Yes, Being Erica Season 1 in 720p has been uploaded multiple times on Usenet. Also has German and French dubs in 720p. It'd be a pretty rare occurrence for something not to be on Usenet.

          Like Fazzmania, between Usenet and private trackers^ I don't see any benefit to using a service like Megaupload. Particularly when you said earlier that "there isn't one host that exists that has everything", and that file hosts go in and out of fashion with uploaders.

          ^ I rarely use Torrents, and the only private trackers I use specialise in obscure niches. For instance, one tracker I'm a member of specialises in art and experimental films and video art which have never been released to the general public in any form; a few members have made rips of things from the collections of museums and art galleries and film archives they work for.

          Seems like multi host services and Usenet are very similar in terms of content.

          One thing is for sure, you won't find Being Erica Season 1 on Megaupload, there is a lot less content on there.

          How easy is it to find things when you're using multiple file hosts, though? (I have no experience.) With Usenet, one only has to visit a good indexer, search, download the NZB, and within seconds of wanting something you're downloading.

        Public torrents are horrible but privates are not that bad.High level sites are mainly full of seed boxes so you max your connection but getting in is another story.But one thing I agree on is usenet and direct links are way better for older files.

      I recently purchased a lifetime membership (just after xmas) however I am yet to received the second account. I bought it based on thinking it was 2 for 1 based on X2 Life membership. The promotion image clearly states X2 lifetime memberships, with 1 lifetime membership crossed out. I recently received the 3 monthly vouchers. I have sent off a couple of queries however with no replies.

        They have just changed the mouse-over to clearly state that it's only for ONE account plus the bonus 6 x 1mth passes. But yesterday, the info popup DID NOT say that - it actually showed a payment page.

        I was also mislead by that X2 thing (so I've had to subsequently edit my posts in this thread), and I reckon that you are justified in what you assumed.
