iRobot Roomba i7+ Vacuum Cleaner $1459.99 Shipped @ Costco (Membership Required)

Back in Stock. Seems like a good deal and around price roughly what a commercial pricing discount would be for those that don't have access to it.

Was looking at the S9+ but local pricing here in Australia is $2899-

Compared to the S9+ it seems like a bargain :)

The Japanese toilets are getting ridiculous.

Why would any one buy this when Xiaomi Robot Vacuum series are so much better and at least half the price?

    • +2

      so much better

      Care to elaborate?

The roborocks have better navigation and mapping systems. But Rombas are better at deep carpet cleaning and has a self empty bin

        • Really wish Roomba would add Lidar to their bots.

        • +2

The newly released Roborock S7 that has just come out has an additional self emptying bin coming later this year.

@JSONBourne: Still needs to come out here.

Seriously the i7 still isn't great on the cleaning on first pass and given it and the i9 are best in class, any other machine must be pretty poor at cleaning.

When the i9 hits around $1,500 I'll pick it up so I can have the i7 and i9 running in tandem and should clean the house well (it will also sound like my house is a jet engine testing centre, but anyway…..)

            • @serpserpserp: I've seen Tech Warehouse selling the s9+ for that price but not sure what to make of Tech Warehouse

              https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/irobot-roomba-s9-robot-vacuum-c…

              • @y2k: Dang. Kogan's come to the party! I don't need my wallet lighten right now!

                • @serpserpserp: Would you be confident buying from them? Tech Warehouse is the marketplace seller…not much info on them and keen not to get a factory second or fake!

              • @y2k: Tech Warehouse is an import. While the $1499 price for the S9+ is tempting a few important things to be wary of. AFAIK there is no 230/240v version of the AutoClean Station except for the version sold both here, and in Singapore and the UK and all these are over $2800.

I am hedging this will be the 110v USA version (since they go on special at $899 USD and makes sense with the price Kogan is charging) so I would love to know how Kogan is going to handle that one when people damage their S9+ with the wrong voltage. I have messaged Kogan directly for further clarification but they just said a travel adapter would be included without specifically address the power voltage concerns I raised.

Secondly and more important, no local warranty. Go onto Reddit and see how many people have had issues with the S9 and how many swaps they have had to do. Apparently some of these issues have been fixed with the latest S9 batch but it stilll roulette with which batch you will get. With no local warranty I think I will safely assume that going through Kogan for an international import warranty will be a nightmare. YMMV.

If you are in the market for a new robot vacuum that auto empties, I would highly recommend looking at the new roborock S7 and giving this one a miss for the money.
I’ve had Roomba vacuums in the past and their navigation is severely lacking compared to the Roborock’s.

    • +1

I can report the i7 navigation is great. just needs to do its explore mode in a clean house and it is fine.

  • Do these things need a sim or does roomba have its own satellite?

    • +1

It uses neuro human network pathways for all its communications

      • Wow! Thanks. My current broom operator works on the same principle but I think her neural pathways must be more like neural cul-de-sacs

      It has wifi bro.
