    Considering a 2TB was up for $99 This isn't the best deal…

The price gap between a 3TB and 2TB drive is significant normally, so $199 is an okay price. But obviously your best off buying 2x 2TB for $99. The reason its price is high enough to be unpractical vs 2x 2TB eHDDs generally is more space is in one hard drive, and not spread over 2. So the process to create the drive is more expensive, hence the inflated price. So if you want space, you go bigger. If you want savings, you go quantity.

      • The 2TB for $99 deal is finished now. Thsi is the only game in town at the moment, I think.

    • You can't compare a 2tb with a 3tb single drive

  • I also saw this advertised, i think it was on Ozb????

Edit: similar posts, i may have been slightly wrong.

Deal breaker for me. There is only slow USB 2.0 on WD elements external hard drives. It would be a good deal if it had fast USB 3.0. Especially considering the 3tb HDD size.

  • Are the HDD inside the case just normal 3.5inch SATA HDD? I want to know so I can strip it and use the hdd as a normal SATA HDD.

  • it has been $199 for at least a month :P

  • Pretty standard price I think. JB HiFi also has it at this price:
