    I'm curious as to what benefits of the Accor rewards program people actually use, and how receptive the hotel has been to provide these benefits, if anybody is willing to share.

      Accor plus has its perks which I find useful.
      Meals at 50% off when 2 are dining is useful.

      Once you get to the top there are perks like lounge access at hotels, free parking at some hotels etc

      Room upgrades too

          yes, however accor plus does cost money to join. $395, or around $200-220 if you join via a loophole ;)
          you also become a silver member straight off joining accor plus

          another option is joining the ibis business membership which makes you an accor gold straight away

          the perks and status were better though before it got rebranded to the current "ALL" name

    Staying in one now, asked to have the points credited. Couldn’t do it as I didn’t purchase straight from them.

    If I had of, room would have been more expensive

      Yes you need to book with them directly always.
      Once in a blue moon they might credit you still if they are feeling generous.

      I've had that generosity shown to me

      Normally ring up prior to check-in to have your number added to the rewards program.
