Xbox Wireless Headset $120 ($149.95 RRP) C&C /+ Delivery@ The Good Guys Commercial (Membership Required)

Was browsing TGGC and saw they were selling this for $120. I suspect this is a pre order as the release date is Tuesday 16 Mar 2021. Xbox will be releasing an update on the same day which will give additional control over accessories such as headsets.

  • shows $130 for me (QLD)

    • That's odd they would have different prices for different states. $120 plus $8 delivery in VIC.

    • Also in QLD-showing 120 for me.

    Thanks OP.
Just cancelled my Amazon order ($148) and jumped on this.

Showing in stock, so likely pickup tomorrow

Good luck, I hope they've released them early by accident. I'm waiting for reviews before getting a set. Let us know how you go.

      • +3

Collected. Retail sales look to be held until release, but commercial sales (if in stock) are good to go.

        Feels pretty solid in hand.

        • I'd be interested to hear a review from you after you've had a few sessions with them. Here is an article outlining the Xbox update which will give the headset additional features through the console.

        • If you have a PC with BT I'd love to hear whether they work well for music.

I’ll buy this to use with my PS5

    • Great idea!

    • How does this connect to PC and PS5? Does it have a wireless dongle?

      • No, it's BT.

        • +1

Ah then this shouldn't work with PS5…

PS5 requires USB wireless and PC bluetooth headset doesnt work with chat and bluetooth stereo at the same time…

  • I'd be interested to hear everyone's feedback on these, as I'm in the market for a new box headset around the $150 price point. Shame I don't know anyone in WA with TGG commercial access :(

    • I got it recently by signing up to Sunsuper or something. I can’t remember what it was haha.(am also in WA)

My only issue with the Xbox Wireless Headset is that since it's announcement about a month ago, there's been a grand total of zero reviews out there about it. Not one reviewer has been given a production copy. The best I've found so far is one YouTuber who was showing off the overall form of the headset. But that's about it. And I have been checking everyday because it's a decent price IF it's a good headset.

To me, this just screams do not pre-order.

I may be wrong, but I'd rather wait this one out.

    • It’s a bit strange given they absolutely shot out endless Xbox Series X consoles to every man and their dog to review but in saying that there’s been a lot shorter turn around time from announcement to release date. Bit sad I ordered my Arctis 9X a few days before this.

Hopefully the reviews etc come out positive because it’s an amazing price, but after their previous stereo headset was a bit of a dud and their controllers having plenty of quality control issues (small overall percentage but still well known) there’s enough reason to be concerned with this.

Microsoft are pretty decent about repairs etc luckily so it kinda all balances out. Hopefully the “test dummies” find the headset to be great!

      • the controllers i think are okay but yes the last stereo headset was garbage, pure garbage

  • Is there a reason we cant use this headset for work with laptop bluetooth ? Specifically with MS Teams ?

    • keen to know too, cheers

No it has Bluetooth you should be able to use it fine, you can even Bluetooth it to your phone while you game on PC/Xbox

There are different tiers of pricing on GGC dependent on who is supplying you the account. For example my mate got an account via sunsuper and I have one for another supplier. Pretty much every item I see is cheaper than what he sees. It's not proportional - amounts vary. Some close, some large pricing differences.

  • Thanks OP!

I think you can’t go wrong at this price point.

Don’t like then after 3-6 months? Resell for ~$100-120 on an online marketplace.

Super faulty product? Deal with Microsoft’s decent warranty.

For what it's worth this is $122 shipped with the latitude pay $20 off offer and 10% off at normal thegoodguys ending tomorrow.

Worked out better for me as no stores had stock for local pickup

    • Don't forget to stack up with 5% Cashrewards + $5 Cashrewards bonus deal today to bring the price down to around $110. Just cancelled my JB pre-order and went with the Good Guys.

      • Champ!

Click and collected mine Thursday evening in QLD, $120 as was going past a store that had stock so that was lucky. Overall quality i initially thought was great but is a little "clunky". No issues with setup or using it, sound is decent in games (only played for about an hr on star wars fallen order). Button and the scrolls feel rather agricultural (couldnt think of a better word) but they work well and i think will last so they have that going for them. I would be happy spending 150 to $200 on them compared to what else is on the market that does xbox and BT to your phone at the same time. I will test out the mic tomorrow on some work MS teams calls and meetings and feedback.

xbox accessory app on laptop wasnt working for me though so thats one note and annoying i didnt see anyway to pull it up on my phone xbox app etc?

    • Hi mate any test on windows and MS Teams?

      • Only tested on mobile teams but i'll give windows MS teams a test tomorrow for you

        • Thank you .appreciate it

          • +1

@dondiego: Tested and work great, it doesnt do the mute when you not talking though which is a down side.. it only does it on the xbox itself it seems.

            • +1

@quikstix: Thank you .based on your feedback i decided to buy it…been using a wired jabra for ms teams which is great but needed a freedom of wireless for roaming around during those boring meetings while working from home :) some colleagues bought $500 wireless jabra which works superb for filtering out the ambient noise but again its $500 !!

        • Would be great if you could please also give it a quick test with some music.

          • +2

@coxymla: Music i would give it a 6/10 maybe 7 if i was feeling generous. Bass is a bit muddy, like for $150 they sound decent considering all the extra things you get with them. Im fussy when it comes to audio quality for music but my wife thinks they sound good, she said not as good as her Sony WH-1000xm3, i would say nowhere near as good but the mic is a million times better for calls and for removing background noise.

    UPDATE**
For $150 (i know i paid $120) considering all the stuff it does well, the mic is awesome for work like MS teams (off windows and android) and games. The sound is great for voices and decent for music (not amazing by any means but still decent). Multiple connected devices works really well (which was a big thing for me), been playing a few times and calls have come through from my phone which is one of the big things i wanted.. I would have paid $150 for these considering it does everything i want and been happy.. dont go in expecting audiophile performance though, these do alot of things really well and some things well. Best bang for buck in my books

    • Thanks very much for the info, because it's impossible to find any real tests of these.
One more Q; when you do voice (Teams/phone call/etc.) is there sidetone present so you don't end up yelling into the mic?

      • +1

yup it does, plus i see loads of reviews out there now!

Besides on my series x Ive been using mine for my WFH days (pretty much use them 6hrs+ a day for long meetings etc and im really happy i bought them (and audio wise im a fussy bugger so if i can be happy with what i paid i would be surprised if others werent)
