The other listing linked to a specific item and has been marked out of stock, so I created one for all the other ones still available. Is this the wrong way to go about it? My first time posting so not sure how it all works.

      • not sure, didnt realise the other one is out of stock as both ads are pointing to the same site/same products

        • Also exception to duplicate rule :

"The item is not in the title of the original deal. Moderator discretion can apply if the post is seen as excessive."

          Other deal didn't include K2 or K1

          • @dubroutine: Removed Duplicate (Keychron K6) from the title.

    From the other post:
I sold mine after waiting for ages for the key customizing software they promised before release. There is currently no ETA on it and last I read the software team don't even know if they can get it working. There's a dedicated light switching button that can't be reprogrammed - ridiculous for smaller keyboards where key functionality needs to be maximized.

    • +3

I concur. I got mine through kickstarter. The light key is the dumbest design choice; I wanted a delete key there instead. I bought it on the assumption the software to reprogram it was coming relatively soon, but a year on, I don't think it's coming. Not that it matters for me, because whilst I was waiting for the kickstarter to ship, I bought an MX keys, and I prefer it over everything else. I've used my K6 for a total of 5 minutes. It has been in storage since it arrived.

      • Can you reprogram the light key through Keyboard Manager in Microsoft PowerToys? Or is it through the keyboard itself?

        • I haven't tried with Keyboard Manager, so I'm not sure. I'd say probably not though, as sharpkeys and karabiner couldn't do it when I had a look.

  • Personally, I didn't like the K6 because it took a little while to get used to the squashed layout (e.g. tiny shift key, smaller space bar). However, it's currently a good price - assuming that you know what switches you'd like (or might like).

  • Wish more keyboards came with PBT options for those like me who can't be bothered tracking down / swapping replacements

  • So I can see on some of them that there is a warning that the particular board is not hot swappable, but the others don't mention it - are any of these boards hot swappable?

    • +2

Not the ones in stock. The ones that don't mention it are probably because that model doesn't have a hot swap version at all

  • I have a K8 and quite like it. Has the feature of being able to swap between wired connection (home pc) and bluetooth (work laptop) at the flick of a switch. Allows me to have one KB on my desk when I work from home, and with the flick of a KB switch and monitor input button, I swap between computers..

I probably slightly prefer my Ducky One TKL though for outright looks and typing in a simple setup.

One issue is I have heard that updating the firmware on Keychron boards is not easy and can brick them. Any update to software to allow customizing would require a firmware update.

Still couldn't figure out if this is v1 or v2,(at least for k2) so i assume it's v1, and will skip it. Nice price tho.

    • +2

      It's the V1
edit: Actually I'm not sure now, on the other deal this was Mwave's response:

"Due to the nature of the packaging on these units, we're unable to verify if they are v1 or v2. Also, we receive units from multiple suppliers so we're unsure if these are updated stock.

They should be V2, as we only just received our stock a month ago, however, I cannot guarantee this."

      • I bought my original K2 from Mwave months ago and it was already V2. In version 2, the keyboard is angled for better ergonomics.

        • Good to know it v2 now it's totally worth it! Hot swappable is great but im happy with brown switches

          • +1

@Tyler Kwok: Yeah hotswappable is definitely worth it. I ended up selling it to buy K2 Hot Swap version (also version 2) and putting in Glorious Panda switches on them. After lubing, band-aid and damping mods, it types just like my more custom mechanical keyboard and for a lot cheaper! Definitely worth it.

  • Which one is best for work (using Excel, typing ect)

    • Blue switch, but also the loudest… so be wary if you're living with someone…

      • Which one of these is that?

        • To answer your question, Gateron Blue (I would stick away from the optical ones).

Go Brown if you don’t want something too loud (e.g. when living with other people). People hate on Browns but they’re the best you’ll get for a relatively quieter, but decent typing experience.

FYI: Gateron Reds are faster and basically silent, however it’s a lot easier to make mistakes because of the lower actuation.

          • @jjsu: Good to know it v2 now it's totally worth it! Hot swappable is great but im happy with brown switches (sorry wrong reply lol)

  • Pity they only got the K1 in the blue switch. Might be too loud… but I still get one. Thanks OP

  • Anyone know what the performance of their bluetooth is for gaming? Mainly on the K2v2 and K1v4. Slightly hesitant to get one because of this but I like the convenience of being wireless. I'll probably purchase a $15 bluetooth 5.0 usb for my desktop to use it as well.

  • shipping fee kinda kills the deal

  • Do Gatreon colours correspond to Cherry MX colours?

    • Yep. In my experience, the Gaterons are a bit smoother feeling (gat brown > cherry brown any day)

      • Cool, thanks :) I've never tried a TKL or a low profile board, so I'm pretty tempted…

      • Seconded, Cherry Browns have a subtle ‘scratchy’ feeling. Plus Gats are much more economical.

I have been using the stock K2 v2 for some time now and I think it's a good first mechanical keyboard. I use it mostly for typing and NOT gaming.

I do like the wireless option and find it handy to reduce clutter. Connection rarely drops.
Got the red switches and at the start, I made heaps of typos because of the light actuations, but got used to it.

There is a 'hollow' sound on certain keys that I hear from time to time but nothing that really bothers me anyway.

I tend to rest my fingers lightly on the keycaps because I got used to laptop keyboards. As a result – prior to getting a wrist rest – I had heaps of random 'w's. Please get a WRIST REST, this is a thicc boy and do your wrists a favour and get one off ebay or something.

  • PSA for everyone looking for a matching Keychron wrist rest, Catch has the K2/K6 width wooden wrist rest for $39, not sure if anyone else in Aus stocks it Would recommend, honestly found the k6 a bit too high for comfort before grabbing it.

  • Does anyone know when mwave will restock the k2 v2 again? Seems like it's out of stock
