  • Able to port in from Boost or not just like JB?

    • Don't know why that question got a neg so gave you a +

    • Same as JB, can't do it from Boost or Belong

  • Seems to be like JB, no boost, belong or Telstra prepaid

    • How about Aldi?

      • +5

        no deal then

        For you, perhaps.

  • +2

I think I might port in me and the Mrs today and get a new TV.

  • Good to see more franchises provide the telstra gc deal instead of jb hifh exclusive.

    • +13

      JB owns TGG! :)

      • Oh i didn't realize it lol, but still ha

        • I thought the same too

    • TGG is part of the JBHiFi Group.

  • Presumably they also have the early cancellation clause and you have to pay back the gift card? I'm looking to switch but don't know if I'll still be in Australia in 12 months.

    • Early cancelation fee is $414 for day one and decreasing as time goes by.

      • +1

You sure? The JB one was 1/2 the cost of the remainder of the contract plus you have to pay back the remainder of the gift card.

        • +1

There's a pretty easy workaround to avoid returning the gift card.

  • Just got the JB two days ago… Actually prefer good guys voucher… Damn.

    • Won't be much different - price wise. If anything JB hifi price matches.

    • Spend it at a JB Home if you prefer a TGG experience

  • 5g included?

    • +1

Yes in selected areas on compatible headsets

  • does TGG let you select your own premium number?

  • +1

Wish all these deals weren't port in, whatever happened to telstra's current customers..

    • +10

They only care about getting new customers. The days of looking after long term customers died in the 90s. There is no profit to be made in someone who is already a paying customer.

      • Once they get eSim to Wholesalers, i'll be out and in, 4g in my watch is too good not to have.

      • There are Jb to JB deals available ($69 BYO with $300 gc), but nothing as good as a port in offer if you don’t wanna leave and wait 30 days.

    • It's all about market share these days. If you want a good deal, i'd seriously suggest calling up Telstra, and asking for the retention team…don't be a jerk but suggest better options you are "considering" and they should give you somewhat of a discount

      • +1

I've done that so much in the past years haha, everytime it worked out well, but i think i'll wait for when the fold3 releases

        • Just curious, do you guys just call the Telstra line suggesting that you want to cancel your current plan?

          • -6

@monkeyoutlet: correct, the retention team is the last super team that you get decent offers and not this "oh i can gib yoh a 5 dollah a montha dizzzcount".
They are actual english speaking team based in SA/VIC

            • +1

@Damonator84: The call centres in India are also English speaking…

              • @merajaan: If you count reading a script and not actually answering complex questions.

          • @monkeyoutlet: Ah without all that racist crap lol, just be nice and say you are considering a move to an opposition. The person on the other end will usually try to call your bluff and offer nothing. Tell them you would like to speak to the retention team who are based locally in their offices rather than a call centre so they can dig a bit deeper whereas the standard operators are usually international offering what they can see on their screens which is usually no more than what standard promotions

It sucks, I used to enjoy being rewarded for being loyal. Unfortunately it's the new reality, just got to adjust your thinking on the issue. It is far more profitable to jump around between carriers (mobile and internet) than to stay out of contract. Set up calendar reminders at contract end and save your money!

    • 100% they really offer nothing to existing customers :(

  • +1

Did same day port-out port-in worked for anybody with JB's deal? I do not have contract with Telstra atm

    • +8

Not for me. The deal required your number to be away from Telstra for minimum 30 days. I got around that by getting the plan with a new number, and then transferring my number to the new plan.

      • Cheers! Was it easy to transfer the old number over to the new plan?

        • Painful but it can be done.

      • I did the same. About two hours through Telstra messaging (due to slow responses) but completely worth it

        • I'm looking to do the same. On boost atm. What exactly did you do?

I'm thinking along the lines of sign up for new account + number.

Port Boost to Telstra blank sim. Then request to combine account and use the old number on the new service.

          • @Anonymous18: I was actually on an out of contract plan with Telstra, so was easy just to cancel that one. Signed up for new number/plan but was all still under the same Telstra account number. What you're suggesting sounds like it should work but I can't say for sure as different for me

            • +1

@stevem42: Can confirm what I proposed above worked. Just went through the process and got my boost number onto the new service I signed up today.

        • +1

2 hours..that would probably be two texts. Took me 13 hrs, but up to 4hrs between responses. Telstra support is about as bad as a telco gets now. A Sad day when Amaysim support is light years ahead of Telstra.

          • @tunzafun001: Oh. Damn I thought I was hard done by. That's the longest I've had to wait between messages but it has been a while

            • @stevem42: As you say, there are huge gaps in between where you just go about your day. But mine ended after midnight which was pretty bad. Just wanted to go to bed!

    • worked for me in a round about way. bought a new $10 optus starter pack. got the JB deal. there was 2 months left on my contract with the phone number i wanted to keep. waltzed over to telstra and told them to cancel my plan with 2 months left and use that number with the new JB deal. worked a treat. took about 15 mins.

      • How is the optus started pack used in all of this?

        • Assuming the Optus starter pack was so they had a non-Telstra number to port in to get the deal

  • Man I'm on this belong prepaid garbage and wanna get this. Any way how?

    • Get a new number and transfer your belong number to this service. I think that's doable?

Have a read through the JB HIFI voucher comments, there's tonnes of Q&A in the thread.

  • Can I make the international calls?

    • Yes.

      • Thanks. But it's not free with the plan. We need to pay, right

  • Its for 1 day only guys. Saturday.
    I received an email too

  • Nice deal share!

I wish I could sign up online instead of going into the local store though. I won't be able to get there today, but could sign up online.

Hi Guys, just hoping someone can help :/ I'm clicking through the link and going to TGG landing page however I cannot see this deal..Can anyone offer assistance? TIA :)

    • In store only I believe

      • Thank you SueyJitSu :)

  • Gots to get me some of that Good Gu.

  • Can’t find the link or offer in TGG.

    • In store only I believe

  • +2

Can you port out from Telstra to Optus today then back to Telstra tomorrow?

    • Was considering this - hopefully someone knows.

    • +1

You need to be away from Telstra / Boost for at least 30 days

    • No

  • +2

Just a note - no free international calls, even to NZ. Few bits like that which surprised me with my first bill. Even $20 prepaid plans have a lot of free international minutes.

  • Is this not on the website? I can't find it

    • In store only

  • the heading say $59 per mth yet the link to the ad say $69 per mth which one is correct? Cheers

    • $69 plan - $10 port in discount like the Jb deal

  • Is this worth it just for the data?

    • Depends on individual requirements.

    • +1

It's really good. Essentially $17.3 per month for 80gb on telstra 5g.
      Compared to others.
      Kogan - $23.75 p/m 500gb for a year (41.6gb p/m) voda 4g
      Circles life - $28 p/m 100gb optus 4g

  • +2

I am in a store and they confirm it is only today. I am in the process of porting at the moment. Thanks OP!

  • Still no data sharing on Telstra (no I don't mean the battery sucking hotspotting)

  • Just signed up for one of these at the local store, then went to Telstra to port my Boost number over onto a Telstra blank sim. Now in the process of going through to online chat to move or original boost number on the blank sim, onto the new active service from TGG.

    • Successfully reassigned my Boost number onto the new account signed up with TGG today.

      • I have a telstra account with a number that is out of contract, and I went to signed up the JB-Hifi deal 2 days ago onto the same account. I tried to call them and assign my old number onto the new contract plan and they refused to do so. :(

          • @Anonymous18: bad luck on me. So have you asked them to cancel the new number?

            • +1

@Seafoodrice: i didnt specifically ask to cancel new number, but after my old number came across, the new number says its not connected when I try to call it.

  • Darn, missed it.

  • Is anyone who got this deal having trouble signing up to Telstra One Number to pair Apple Watch? It’s saying plan not eligible

  • can I use TGG gift cards for Good Guys Corporate??
