Hisense 75Q8 4K Ultra HD ULED $2,549.15 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Myer (Price Matched @ JB Hi-Fi)

380

Usually around $3,000 from what I've seen at JB, Good Guys and Harvey Norman. On sale currently for $2,795 at those stores but I price matched at JB last weekend for $2,549 when it was still at its regular price. Not the lowest price ever but I thought it'd perform better than the Q70T which was at a slightly higher price point (on sale when I was there) with the employee telling me the Q8 is more comparable to the Q80T.

Someone will probably let me know in the comments if this is a common occurrence but last weekend the Myer site said the sale would end then (7/3) but seems to have been updated so that the sale is still active, however it does say that it ends today just as a heads up.
TV is looking great so far, and the old man is loving it. Someone on Whirlpool mentioned that this model is the same/similar to the H8G which was reviewed very well on rtings.com so I’d use that for your comparisons.

First deal so please let me know if I've messed anything up, happy shopping!

Got 85 Q8 and I strongly can compare its black depths to an oled TV. Cannot be more happy with my Q8 purchase.

    • +1

Couldn't agree more, my TV sits downstairs mostly in a darker environment, so the contrast between the deep blacks and bright scenes really looks superb.

Rang 4 Myer stores yesterday. The only one that answered - Upper Mt Gravatt - doesn't sell TV's.

Rang GGs - can someone call you back?

Rang VP Newstead. Asked nicely if they were open to offers, after a very pleasant chat $2,500 delivered.

    • Happy to hear you got a great deal in the end!

  • How this compared to Samsung QLED. I'm after this model https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/samsung-75-inch-…
But is it worth trying Hisense?
    Any feedback please

In my opinion just viewing at the store and purely off the spec sheets the Q8 will dominate the Q60T in every way. Local Dimming, Screen Hz, Brightness, Warranty etc. Would recommend spending the extra few hundred bucks.

    • +2

Yes from memory according to Choice the Q8 outperformed the Samsung’s

I recently bought the 65q8 and really impressed with the screen. Colour, clarity and black depth really great. I compared it in-store with similarly priced Samsung and LG TVs and it was miles better.

The interface is very snappy and a big improvement on the old 55 7 series I had before.

In terms of negatives, the interface in most/all apps seem to be 720 or 1080p and so look blurry because they don't scale to 4k. Annoying but not a deal breaker.

'Anycast' is basically useless since it doesn't scale a phone or tablet screen to fit the tv properly. If you cast a lot of stuff you might want a different tv or to supplement with a Chromecast or similar.

      • Motion blurring?

        • +1

I know people complain about this with this TV, but I haven't had any issue - maybe I'm not too fussy??

I agree with the above, I bought the 65Q8 and am blown away by the picture quality.

          • @placard: Maybe it's a fault that only occurs randomly in individual Q8's. For example, TV calibrators say that calibration settings on one tv may not produce the same results on another tv, even if it's the same model.

Waiting for the hopeful killer deal as 2021 models hit the market, has to be soon.

AND still waiting for my 10yr old 55" LG 3D tv to die.

    • When do you think we'll start seeing 2021 models?

      • any day now, looks like Samsung just launched theirs today.

    • My 13yr old Kuro wont die. Hard to justify a replacement.

  • How does the Q8 compare to the Sony X9000 range?

  • How does this compare to Sony x8000h?

  • Checked out today at JB 65" Q8, the black is very good and colour also good. The 65" comes with DOLBY ATMOS sound bar but by the look of the 75" doesn't seem to have it build in or hidden?

    • -1

The "soundbar" is just regular TV speakers with a brand slapped on. Get a proper sound bar still.

      • I have the 55inch Q8
      • OK, it said Dolby Atmos I thought should be better than standard speaker. Is the TV comes with eARC to pass surround to AV Receiver?

        • +1

          No, Q8 doesn't have eARC

        • Look, it's pretty good for what it is, but it won't match a decent soundbar or external speakers. It's far from tinny though that some TV speakers sound like.

I sometimes use the external amplifier, but for the odd thing here and there, the TV speakers are fine.

  • Had the chance to buy the Q95T 65" for $3000 but I waited too long and kicking myself now if the CX comes down in price will jump on that but if not will get the X9500 which is about 2400 at the moment hopefully will come down a bit more

  • Have the 65Q8 - a still or non-motion image quality is superb. However, motion is poorly handled and the gray uniforming / dirty screen effect is terrible. Mostly noticeable in light or dark scenes with sky or similar. Could be bad lottery so others might be better.

Sent Hisense pictures of it and they said there's no problem there. Unfortunately stuck with this but applied for a VCAT dispute. Will see how it goes.

    • +1

Unfortunately, the Q8 gets bucketed for motion blurring in many reviews. So good luck with your dispute. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on a Q8 myself, but I want to see high speed motion on screen first. Unsurprisingly, none of the demo scenes in stores have fast motion, so I'll be asking to see some live tv.

      • +1

I wouldn't have purchased it if I had seen what it looked like before buying, but I'm very irritated by DSE.

I've heard some people bring in USBs with content they want to see on the TV. Maybe that would work

        • Probably a redundant question, but, have you tried turning off ALL motion related options in settings?

  • No HDMI 2.1 I assume?

    • +2

      Q8 doesn't have HDMI 2.1
