  • Is this a genuine apple product?

      It's genuine imitation replica knock-off.

      • -3

        It's genuine imitation replica knock-off.

Yup. Saw these yesterday at local shopping centre. They even copied Apple's C-Tick registration number.

The cheap copy of Apple's packaging gives them away.

        • +3

I was a tad suspicious when I saw it included the USB cable as my genuine Apple power adapter didn't.

        • Seeing fakes somewhere else doesn't mean deal fox ones are fakes?

And they could always add a lead themselves.

        • @cryptowiz - your genuine one would have if it was the same model number as this dealfox claims to be:

          What's in the Box
          - Apple USB Power Adapter
          - Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable

A3Australia, I fail to see how what you saw at a local shopping centre is the same product as ours?

It's a shame people have decided to jump onto the 'fake' bandwagon without a) Having seen our product b) Know our business profile and c) Any evidence to back their claims whatsoever.

        • Yet in your response, you still don't make a straight out claim that they are 100% genuine and authentic…

Not saying they aren't, but you really aren't doing all you could to get people back on your side.

        • Ashlea. These are genuine and authentic. I wouldn't be debating if they weren't. Also, the mods had already edited the main description and posted our official response in the thread. Cheers

      • Does it have a certificate of replica-city?

    • Using the Apple Part Number, Brand and RRP you'd hope so.

They come with the AU duck tail plug. Which even has the insulation on its pins. However, it does not 'fit' as well as the genuine Apple product. Also, I think that the puns in this AU plug were upside down.

I am going back to Bondi Junction today. So I will check pn the details/differences.

The concern would be on the safety side. As we have no idea of the quality of the parts inside.

        • Also, I think that the puns in this AU plug were upside down.

An upside down plug is an instant giveaway of a cheap Chinese product. Some parts of China use the same plug as us, but upside down.

    • Dealfox hasn't stocked knockoffs before and selling something as "Apple" that isn't is more trouble than it's worth. They also are somehow affiliated with CNC Warehouse who stock weird and wonderful local lines (overstocks maybe?)

All the same I'd personally be wary considering the number of lookalikes coming out of China.

  • Call it apple but is not?

  • beware: i've used one of these replicas before and the plugs wiring has been different to the genuine accessories (ie - positives and negatives wired to different pins) as a result, it is no more!!!!

  • It's apple "style"

  • I got these from eBay for $15. Marked as genuine in their description and appear to be genuine. They have the white insulated pins and come in same plastic wrap as the genuine one I got with my iPhone. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-Genuine-Apple-USB-Power…

    • Apple have they made from a number of factories in china its conceivable that some of these make their way on to the market, but they are still an unlicensed product.

  • Fake.

      Fake

Yes. As I belive were the Diddy Beats from yesterday, from the same site.

Care to elaborate as to why? I'm all for users posting their concerns but blatant accusations that can't be substantiated don't help at all.

        • +2

Put simply there are a whole bunch of morons on the site today.
Instead of finding out the facts, they would rather post and agree to unsubstantiated rubbish based on guess work. A3Australia is always keen to jump on the "FAKE / NO IMPORTS" bandwagon for apparent "safety reasons", when hopefully everyone is aware that they are probably only interested in protecting their own financial interests.
Hopefully mods will clean this thread up soon.

        • +3

Yeah bang on, getting really tired of reading A3Australia slam just about every electronic store for imports/safety concerns and ofcourse the damn C-tick rego. Dont know why everyone is jumping on the fake bandwagon, Dealfox has been very good to OZB and Jason has been an extremely responsive rep over the last few months so if ANYONE ought to get the benefit of the doubt, they should.

The description of this charger leaves a little to be desired - the word "Genuine" doesn't feature once, the pictures barely show the item and don't show any markings or packaging. The style of Apple chargers is cloned frequently on top of the crapload of fake Apples sold both online and on the local market. Hiding markings/packaging and being unclear/ambiguous is a common trait amongst dodgy sellers.

I didn't expect fakes from Dealfox (I'm a happy customer of a few orders) but it was enough to make me a bit suss.

Those are some very valid and helpful points lbft. Will get the copywriters to really emphasise authenticity of products especially when it comes to these brands.

        • the word "Genuine" doesn't feature once

          hmmm
          Isn't the word 'Apple' enough?

I'm sure the dodgy sellers also know about sticking the word 'genuine' in front of their description…. How will this make it any more believeable?

We all know it's a mine field out there…. but I'm not convinced that adding, "genuine", "honestly mate", "really really genuine" or anything else will assist anybody really.

I guess it's down to trust in the retailer…. info from sites like this, and perhaps 'gut feelings'

          sorry…. edited…. sounded a bit 'ranty' before :)

        • "Guaranteed genuine product or your money back plus you get to keep the product!"

        • +1

I mentioned the word 'genuine' because it at least says that the seller intends for you to believe it to be made by Apple, and from a legit seller like Dealfox would say to me that they'd checked it out.

The description left me wondering whether it was made by Apple or was a (legit, unbranded) third-party lookalike accessory (like my lookalike that came from Aldi) or whether they just weren't sure enough on its genuine nature to be definite. "Apple power adaptor" could be interpreted to mean "Power adaptor for Apple products" as easily as "Apple-brand power adaptor", especially in this price bracket.

It's a great price for genuine Apple, it's a bit meh for a third-party charger and unknown provenance is something to be wary of (although to some degree it's to be expected with one-item-a-day type sites that spend at least some of their time flogging stock that's come to them via liquidations.)

I can't think of a better way to communicate that than the word 'genuine' but that's probably a lack of creativity on my part.

    Fake and expensive.. come on

    Fake and overly priced

I have contacted DealFox asking whether this product is genuine Apple or just mimicking Apple's style. Here is the answer I got:

These are certainly genuine Apple products for the Australian market. Our parent company is Cellnet Pty Ltd, Australia's leading distributor of mobile accessories and flash memory. You can see our profile here http://www.cellnet.com.au/ and we're also ASX listed public company.

Therefore those who voted -1 with reason "fake" are not justified.

    • I had already bought one today and I know that Cellnet is an authorised Apple distributor so I am placing my bet that this is the REAL deal and not a "fake".

      • If in doubt, just price match it at Officeworks.

  • Apologies for the inaccurate fake comment. The product description gave the impression it was supposed to be an 'Apple' product and to me seemed like it was trying to play off the Apple name. The description did not state that it was genuine, which i thought would be a major selling point.

At least the point of confusion has now been cleared.

  • Negative votes based on 'fake' comments have been revoked.

I personally like (and bought) the ipad power adapter kit as it is 10w (charges faster), works with all iOS devices, and includes two plugs (wall plug, and extended wall plug), all for $35 delivered from Apple: http://store.apple.com/au/product/MC359X/A
