New Customers

Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend who is already with Belong for an additional $20 credit.

2 Months 23GB — Activate on the $25 20GB per month plan. Then switch to the $15 3GB per month plan for the 2nd month. You should be able to switch straight away once your account is set up & activated. The first 2 months cost is covered ($25 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted. $5 referral credit will be left over.

2 Months 40GB — Activate on the $25 20GB per month plan & stay there for the 2nd month. This will cost you another $5 as the referral credit is only $20.

Hack For Existing Belong Customers

Activate the same as above but in a family or friends name & email. Use your referral code to give yourself $20 credit. Make sure you actually use the new sim in a spare phone so you can't be accused of breaching the "Customer Terms". Gift the 23GB data to yourself gradually or towards the end of the 2 months.

Just been through my first Belong 3 months. I sent a message to support informing them I have ported out to Vodafone.

They jusy reply saying my Belong service is still active (but been with Voda for a week).

I still have $10 credit in my account if they try to charge me another month. But not sure what I'm meant to do?

Also, Just a reminder to others to delete your Belong referal codes if you arent with Belong anymore, it can stuff others up if the referer isn't active.

Did you write the words - "please cancel my account"

Not that it should matter but at least if there is a dispute you have done what they have asked in the customer terms.

    • +4

Cut and paste directly from within the belong app when I select cancel my account:

If you’re switching to a new service provider and want to keep your number, do not cancel your service. Please contact your new service provider and they’ll transfer your number for you and we’ll stop billing your service.

Good point about the referral codes. Most people would forget to remove it. I was lucky enough to get one referral "hit" a few months ago - feels nice.

    • +3

I thought your account would be automatically closed after your number has been ported to another provider. They no longer have your number in service to charge you for any services.

        My recent experience was this.

  • Buy 4 and get 3 times the referal credit so overall cost is a BARGAIN!

    • You'd have to activate each one in a different name & email though.

      • they create "burner" mails just for that!
names, John Smith, jo brown, jahan braun, Hans Schmidt…..

        • Sure you can use any email but my point is you actually need real ID in Aus to activate a sim.

          • @WatchNerd: Vodafone wanted a credit card online but over the phone they do not care! If tourist buys a sub "Hell" sub-company card they do not care!

          • @WatchNerd: I have activated 3 sims using one name and ID but different emails. Not sure if I breached T&C but so far no questions been asked.

            • @xlamik: You might want to read the "Customer Terms" because it states they may cancel your service immediately if you’ve seriously breached them.

              Link is in the description.

            • @xlamik: Yes it's a breach. People including myself have had their number cancelled without notice for referring our own accounts.

I just got a referral credit land in my account, I assume it's someone from OzB.

    Thank you mystery person.

Have the plans changed? I just signed up on the $25 plan, seem to have 20GB available. But the plan options available to change to are 3GB for $15 a month, 40GB for $35 a month (limited time promo), and 80GB for $35 a month.

Suppose I'm only in this to sim slut it and get back onto the Kogan 3 month deal whenever I've burnt up the data on this, so the 3GB $15 plan suits me for a total of 23GB for $10 spent. If I end up using that before renewing for a third month, I'm pretty happy with that.

Wow yes they have!!! Just looked at their website now.

Looks like they've totally got rid of the $10 plan for new sign ups, what idiots!!!

      I thought you offered a $10 smaller 1G plan?
We did, but the Belongs $10 plan is no longer be available for new sign-ups.

      How does this affect you?
If you're already on the $10 plan, this won't affect you. You'll remain on the plan.

Oh yeah, just checked the Critical Information Summary and its official as of today.

Reading this deal description, the $10 plan for new signups have been gone for a while. But they've also removed the $10 plan for renewals now. Still though, $15 for 3GB is better value than $10 for 1GB.

        • +1

Just looked at the CIS too.
Thanks for the heads up, will edit the description.

        • The problem is that, now you could only use for another month with your referral credit with $5 left, instead of using it for another 2 months with $0 left.

          • @wildstone: Yep so people will now be sim slutting to Kogan 60GB 90 days $14.90 just before their 2nd month ends.

On the positive - 2 Months 23GB $10.00 is still pretty good value.

        • Gees, that literally removes $10 plan and replaces it with $15 a month, which is 50% price increase.
That makes Kogan $14.90 for 60GB 90days way more attractive.

          • +1

@ja912son: This starter pack on special is still good value for sim slutting between Kogan as I mentioned above but what they have done is pretty much eliminated a massive chunk of the market who only want to spend $10 per month.

The good thing about Belong was once you had accumulated a large amount of data you could sit on the $10 per month plan until you worked your way through it. That's not possible now for new sign ups.

            • @WatchNerd: Touche. I'm currently on $10 per month Belong plan contemplating what would be the best option moving forward.

Either way, I need to grab some of these $25 pack as a starting point. Belong mobile has been providing great value for a while.

              • @ja912son: If you're currently on the $10 plan then don't forget the hack mentioned in the description under - Existing Belong Customers, which should still give you $20 promo credit (2 extra months & 23GB).

                • @WatchNerd: Thanks for the heads up.
I've exhausted 10 referrals of $200 in total since joining them in Oct18.

  • Hi all,

Just wanna ask a question about Belong Referral $20 credit. It seems that $20 credit can't be used right away at the activation process towards the very first month cost. Is that correct?

If so, when would the $20 credit be added to a newly activated account?

    Thanks!

    • Added on first invoice, can be used at 2nd month.

      • Thanks for your reply. That sucks! Unlike the old days, you can use it right away towards the first month cost.

        • +1

Yes, belong’s game is over, no more immediate credit and double data at fixed billing dates.

  • I activated a $25 starter few days ago. I want to change to $10 plan today, I only find $15 for 3 G plan available.
Any other way to use $10?

    Thank you.

If there is NO more $10 plan to change even after the 1st month, could OP update the title?

    addit

I also cannot find the referral code for the new account, Are they going to turn the referral system off?

    • You should have $20 referral credit left over after activating on the $25 plan.

The description already says there is no $10 plan anymore.

From the app go to - My Services, then scroll down to - Get Your Invite Code.

  • With the riddance of the $10 plan, its probably better to go for a $40 starter pack when they are on special for $15 and activate as

    Month 1: $25
    Month 2: $15
    Month 3: $15

    • Maybe.
It is a choice of $10 for 2 months or $15 for 3 months. Both have $5 useless in your account unless you pay $10 for 1 more month.
However an ozbargainer will not add $10 for that.
Nevertheless I cannot find any special of $15 for $40 starter at the moment.

I think now Aldi, $99, for 365 days, 15G is a good choice, as there is wifi everywhere.

  • Is it possible to start on the $45 plan with a starter pack by paying the difference?

    • yes you can

    • It was the $40 start kit sold at $20. I am waiting for the newly added $45 start kit on promotion. Maybe it is $20 as well

  • It's a shame you cant have a 2nd account, would have been nice to get this deal then slowly gift my data to my current account with them.
Sucks that they dropped the $10 plan too.

    Thanks OP.

Just activate a 2nd account in a family member's name as mentioned in the description.

      • I only have 1 brother and he has a different last name.
