    Difference between this and 850x?

    • +1

jap capacitors, both 10 yr wty tho so id just go with this tbh

Apparently the x has a quieter fan too

        • Oh ok, the dB graphs they show under both products seem to be exactly the same and outline the same exact features so I didn’t think there was a difference there. Never really heard my RM model’s fan tbh.

      • Oh I got the 850x for $210 a few weeks ago. The white model.

  • will this suit a 3090 setup?

    • Yeah they are okay with high quality 650W PSU so this will easily do the job.

      • Depends which cpu you’re using as well

  • $166.47 from Harris technology via Amazon. Click on other sellers to see that price

  • This is the newer version of rm series, with a Great Wall solution which is equally good as the old rm, but rmx in my opinion is slightly better, mainly the fan.

  • basically an extreme slight cut down version of RMX even though it is "newer". still up on jonnyguru's list.

  • More power efficient and supports Microsoft Modern Standby. However it uses Chinese capacitors (vs Japanese caps in the RMX), and I think a lower quality fan bearing.

I replaced a RMX with this RM model (unfortunately RMX died during start of COVID, so almost impossible to find a replacement RMX at a reasonable price) and honestly, you won't notice any difference. Both also comes with a 10yr warranty.

    • Your RMX died? Could you not RMA?

      • Yes, I received a refund as I wasn't going to wait 2-3 months for a replacement. Every store had sold out of 90%+ of their PSUs.

PSU supply didn't really get back to normal until closer to the end of 2020.

  • Does the white model ever get discounted ?
I'm currently using a Corsair AX860 and trying to get some white cables made up for it and the prices are not much cheaper than this PSU deal so was contemplating purchasing a white PSU instead.
Can't be bothered doing it but may have to end up re-sleeving my existing cables.

    • Does the white model ever get discounted ?

Yes. It was 190 + shipping not long ago at SE. It only exists in RMx form though.

If you want white individually sleeved cables, Corsair sells the kit for about $85. But it only includes 2x 8 pin. If you have an OC'd 3080/3090 you might need 3 of those cables.

  • Does this model have the hardened heat shrink ends like the rm850x? Surprised this isn’t mentioned more as it’s an absolute pain in the ass for cable management. And in fact barely let me reach my motherboard 24pin or 8+8 pin plugs because of the amount of cable length that is wasted because it’s unbendable from where it connects to the mobo. Any other alternatives if not? Because pretty sure I’m going to return the 850x as a result. If it was on the PSU end of the cables it wouldn’t be an issue…

    • The RM cables are thinner and more flexible than the RMx except for the 24pin which is pretty much the same thick cable as the RMx.

  • i think RMX is only slightly more at SE. Or at least it was a few days ago.
