      • The title should say pickup or +shipping

    • +1

so good price if you can pickup,
      but for $97, I'd wait a while.

    • +1

$8.25 shipping kinda kills the deal for me. Only if I live close to the store.

  • I just picked one up in store (Sunshine) for the same price ($88).

    • Was there anything special you had to mention? I'm 10 minutes away from Sunshine and don't really see the point of paying $8.2 if I can pick it up!

  • Wow good price! Is this SSD any good for an OS drive in 2011 Mac Mini (SATA3)? Would I need the TRIM enabler patch for Lion?

    • +2

I'm using the 120GB version in the same Mac Mini and haven't bothered with turning TRIM on. You don't need it, but I guess it can't hurt.

      • Thanks mate, i'll grab one and give it a shot.

        Cheers

  • If only Officeworks stocked SSDs

    • +1

They'd be lucky to spell it! :p

  • +3

    bring up the 120GB~~!!

  • Was just about to drive down to scorptec to pick one up for $109 … luvin it!!! :)

  • +1

whats the diff between agility 3 and vertex 3? were these the ones having the crashes due to the sandforce controllers?

    • the Vertex 3 has a slightly higher read/write speed at 550/500.

  • Damn, If only they had a store in QLD. Gonna cost me almost $100 shipped to QLD after shipping + 2% paypal surcharge. Still $9 cheaper than my local store though.

  • What are you all putting these in - tablets or laptops?

  • Can I use this in a desktop? Just put this into a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket?

    • I'm using one on my desktop now as my windows drive (also 60gb). Works fine. 30 second bootup.

      • +6

30secs!!!. I would have expect no more than 10-15 secs on SSD.

        • he's probably including the BIOS loading time. From the Windows 7 screen to my desktop completely loaded it's probably under 10 seconds easily.

        • 30 is still long but i used to get like 2 minutes. and yes i am including BIOS loading times.

      • +1

I'm doing 17 seconds inclusive of bios. I can save 2 seconds if i define my hdds but it's still blazing fast. I've only got 20GB left from my 120 on Win 7 Ultimate after all applications (office, CS5, lightroom, etc) is installed including TF2, L4D2, BF3. Userdata relocated to HDD.

Some people say it's enough but i knew from the get go that i needed at least a 120GB.

        • IMO, 60GB doesn't leave much room for much else so if I'm gonna get an SSD, it needs to be 120GB but given the premium price at the moment, I'm sticking with my Samsung F3 HDD which I have no complains.

    • +3

yes, you need the bracket. Otherwise, duct tape works as well.

      • +5

duct tape works for everything!! :P

        • +3

          That's what she said

        • I've always thought it was duck tape…now that ban from the zoo makes sense!

        • -2

i used to duct tape everything then i took a scissor to the knee …

    • re: bracket

my sonata III case has 4 predrilled holes(75 x 65mmish) for mounting my 128gb ssd.
these holes are on the bottom of my case directly below the hdds.
(older sonata IIIs didn't have this)

perhaps you have something like this already.

however, I found these holes a bit of a pain to work with.. a bracket would have been better.

  • I have an esata port on my laptop.
    Will this connect to it?

Im not so good with computers.

  • Would this work with a Dell XPS 17 laptop? I know it has two HDDs inside…

    • I have a 120gb agility 3 in my xps17, easy and no issues. Though I read you may have issues if you attempt to restore windows onto it using recovery disks instead of installing Windows fresh. Worth the risk, is fast!

      • thanks HSV, my XPS didnt come with any disks…is this normal? (I got it from the outlet)

        • That is normal with all laptops these days as you burn the recovery disks yourself (they dont expect you to be replacing hardware), but i got mine from dell online and ticked the option for $2 extra for the windows install dvd. The BSOD everyone talks about with these drives from all the googling I did comes from either a setting in the bios that is wrong or installing windows from a recovery disk which doesnt have the correct drivers for a ssd as it installs. Maybe give dell a call and see if you can buy the Windows 7 disk from them, though I doubt it. If you install from a Windows 7 dvd it sees the ssd drive and installs the right drivers I guess.

  • +2

Any good deals on 120 gb SSD?

  • Beware these drives have serious issues that affect a lot of users where the system freezes or BSODs
The latest v2.15 firmware does not fix the problem for most users.

    • -2

I have had similar issues but I'm not sure if I can trace it back to this drive for sure. One thing is Windows boots slower than with my old sata3 Kingston ssd!

      • -3

Both your reasons for giving this deal a negative vote are irrelevant. You're voting on the deal, not your experience with it - this would be more relevant as a comment.

    • +1

That does not mean you should neg this deal. This is a great price for these drives and only SOME users are affected.

I just bought three of these ($105 ea) for different installs and all are working fine. Many other users also report working drives.

      Great deal.

    • +9

Good point. Buyer beware - Many many issues reported with the drive.

    • -1

There's been a recent firmware update meant to address BSODs from OCZ/Sandforce.

    • I've owned one of these for about 4 months now. I was getting BSOD's and System Freezes, even after updating firmware about a month ago. Found out that my freezing was actually due to a dodgey SATA controller for my collection of 1TB HDD's. Since replacing that, no freezes at all.

Obviously, not everyone has some 15 HDD's in their PC, but it would appear that OCZ have picked up their game a bit lately with their Firmware.

  • +1

Been using these fine had an issue with 1 drive and the latest firmware at the time fixed the issue and haven't seen any yet

  • Really tempting but my bank account says no :(

  • $18 shipping to NSW kills it for me… good price but probably just for those living in Melbourne.

    • +1

      Yeah. Too much for NSW.

  • Shipping makes it no deal for me. Not that feasible, if you can pickup, maybe it's a deal.

  • A good find I have one and it works realy well.

  • -3

    .

  • +3

Good deal, but thing is too small!! Do us a 120GB deal!!

    Cheers.

  • +10

Caveat Emptor: YES, this is a deal but only in Victoria but as when you take in to account of $18 Shipping and 2% surcharge all you save is not exactly "monstrous" savings, without local warranty if it breaks down (where you can take it to the shop), otherwise you may have to pay shipping cost to them as well, and given some of the earlier comments about reliability…..

Just my 2 cents, for those interested only otherwise please ignore as I believe this should be here rather than in general comments as it is relevant to the sale price you are buying, perhaps not now but later…..in my humble opinion only (otherwise Moderators feel free to move them to general discussion where majority does not read when they decided to buy/vote on a deal.

WARNING is you have to take the price with the understanding of the Centre Com management you are dealing with (I for one will never deal with such attitude in business) as you are dealing with a "Dictatorship" type of management, who could not give a damn about service! I experience it first hand myself recently, having ignored warnings from people who got flamed for voting negative on their deals regarding their experience in previous sale (confirmed earlier again by someone else earlier today but his/her comments were forced to be removed due being flamed when majority rules and there was also similar experience in previous post for those who checked on previous Centrecom com history but not surprised they were easily overlooked as everybody wants a bargain when the purse strings are tight.

However, having now experience it myself, I would not be buying from them ever as having dealt with Centre Com management firsthand people should know, when I wrote to them and complained regarding an order I got the exact same response that was experienced some others who voted negative a while back "….your order is cancelled and your account is Banned"…..this was the same childish response from a previous Ozbargainer who got flamed when they voted negative and here I was thinking it was a once off-experience of someone until the same exact response . ….. fancy dealing with such a company when your hard drive breaks down and you asked for service. Hope it all goes well for you and you will never had to deal with their management when things go wrong and you had to write to them….your account may be banned…..I was frustrated and annoyed when I wrote to them regarding lack of response from email on an order but when I received their response and got "banned" I actually found it hilarious and had a good laugh LOL!

    • +4

ive had the same experience with a recent deal with them aswell…i figured i wouldnt post any more about my experience with them so i could just leave it behind me lol…it was pretty terrible, and i barely ever complain. But i feel you on this one and have to say a few words to let people know so hopefuly it may help some others not go through the same thing.

its story telling time…i bought the asus tablet, they ran out of stock (which is fair enough) but the guy handling my account 'anthony' was the rudest guy. i was emailing politely the whole time. afterwards, i asked about my refund as i waited a week already and heard nothing for 2-3 weeks. emailed them plenty of times with zero replies so i just gave up and then out of the blue one day i received the refund with no notification or email. i thought i could just leave this behind me and move on, but i wake up at night sometimes saying ANTHONY! NOOOOO!

  • Not on a vendetta, but seeing some found it helpful to help them assess it is a deal or not …. found the previous thread for those who may be interested only ….. shows where I was also guilty of ignorance just to secure a "bargain" ….until I received mt reply for non response complaint to change my payment methods to my recent 2TB WD Elements order for $99; as advised by Centre Com " your order is cancelled and account has been banned", LOL without any consultation and this is apparently from a Team leader……goes without saying.

    • I'm finding it really difficult to understand your english. spend a bit more time constructing sentences so people can interpret what you are trying to say a little better.

  • Anyone bother to whack one of these into a netbook? LOL or worth the time?

  • +1

Called Sunshine Centrecom - Wouldn't let me come in and pick one up…. pricks.

  • Have the prices for SSd's been affected by the Thailand floods aswell?

    • Indirectly, if so. Doesn't seem to have been much movement in SSD prices recently - by the time the 120GB ones hit my price sweet spot, I'm gonna need 160.

  • Has anyone else been able to pick up in store?

    • Yes, earlier poster said:

decryption 22 hours 53 min ago

I just picked one up in store (Sunshine) for the same price ($88).

      • sorry should have said anyone else apart from decryption
