      • think ur credit card being stolen is more likely scenario

    • What is the expiry on these GF?

      • +4

Wish gift cards don't have an expiry date.

  • thanks op, I missed hoarding enough when it was ending. Didn't dare to hope this comes up again.

Woolworths must need some extra working capital. Raising money for 3 days only.

    • Gift cards are a liability so they will decrease working capital

      • +1

If I give you $95 to which there is some date you will have to pay $100 which could be tomorrow or could be in 12 months.

You have got an asset $95 cash which you can use to buy more stock rather than borrowing in the markets. Best part is turnover. If you can buy $95 of stock and sell it for a 10% margin in 1 week then making $9.50 and giving you a $5 is a no brainer.

You've also got a liability of $100 which is god knows when. Net $5 liability.

The best part is having $95 to spend right now. You know Tesla when they take deposits for cars that are 2 years+ away from delivery such as Model 3. It is free working capital. Same thing here. Best part about this gift cards is if people lose them. It is literally 5% that won't have to be paid out.

        • Are you bullish on Tesla?

          • @TEER3X:

            Are you

            Doesn't matter about me.

If you look at the people buying Teslas and you believe there is enough of them left then buy the shares, It is like Apple. I own shares through fund managers but not an iphone.

I wouldn't buy a Tesla because it doesn't make sense to me personally.

  • Good old times. Delivered in minutes of ordering. No 6 hours of waiting!

  • Can anyone tell me if you need the physical gift card to by the fuel or can you use the egift card at the petrol stations?
    Thanks in advance

    • +7

It depends on the petrol station you’re going to.

If you’re going to an EG-owned petrol station, you can use either physical or eGift cards.

If you’re going to a Caltex-owned petrol station that accepts Woolworths gift cards, you can only use physical gift cards, as they only have regular EFTPOS machines. (They don’t use the same POS system as EG-owned petrol stations.)

      • thanks

  • Hey everyone. Can I top up my opal card with these gift cards?

    • +1

yes but obviously you can top-up from certain Woolworths stores.

    • Yes that's always how I top up my opal card - 4-5% discount.

      • what is the max you can top up an opal card for? any idea?

      • Damn. why we don't have this for gocard in Brisbane….

  • This is way better than the previous promo of buy $XXX gift cards get XXX Woolies points… which I never got the points anyway

  • Stacks with my 5% cashback on my CRO card! Excellent.

    • what's the average price you paid on the 500,000 CRO?

      • I'm grandfathered on 100k CRO stake.

I'm technically 'up' now with the recent CRO changes and pump.

        • was it free?

          • @Poor Ass: What was free? My CRO? No, I paid money for them.

            • @Yanoflies: I thought grandfathered mean you got it from the start

Hence y I ask your average price you paid on the cro

    • +3

      What’s CRO?

  • great, thanks OP

  • Good deal if you don’t already have access to 5% discount via seniors card or flarehr

  • Thanks OP, bought $500 worth. Payment issues on mobile, but went smoothly on desktop.

  • no amex?

    • +3

yep you can - platinum Edge gets 3x points for "supermarket" purchases for which the gift cards count. Love my platinum edge.

    • +1

Do you mean can you pay for the GF with Amex? Yes you can.

  • +5

Would it be a good idea to buy $1600 worth of these with the ANZ platinum card to get a total of $2100 worth for $1525?

Woolworths money is app is one of the main reasons I'd shop at Woolies over Coles.

Surprised that Coles hasn't made a similar app yet.

    • What does it do?

      • +1

You can store all your Gift Cards in it and it shows you live balance on each card.

        • There's a limit 10 from memory).
Coles checkout is easier though, you don't need to check your gift card balance, it will tell you and you can continue.
WW just says insufficient balance if you didn't select split payment.
Each system has some advantages over the other.

    • +1

Yes but lately I find the balance takes like 10-20 seconds to refresh/update.

      • i thought it was just my phone. recent updates have made the app slow to open and update balances.

    • +1

I find it really handy too, especially now that you can scan the barcode rather than typing in those long digits.

One omission that I've found a bit surprising is not having the option to secure the app with a passcode, or integrate with FaceID.

      • Agreed, the security is lacking.

A hassle when you change phones and need to re-add them all. I presume it would be the same if the app was accidentally deleted off your phone as well.

    • Coles doesn't have a functional website. It blows my mind!

  • Do you know if the GC is sent in a third email or did i miss it?

Ive received the Order confirmation email and then the tax invoice. Havent seen my GC yet.

    • +1

      Yep, there's 3 emails.

      • +1

        Just got it thanks!

  • +2

Thanks OP! Great little pick up there.

    Awesome first post.

  • Perfect timing! Was just running out after my last lot of gift card hoarding!

    • Agree, Great timing. I was just starting on some Prezzee swaps…such a waste.

  • +1

What am I missing it's just like 7 dollars off 150 RYT ? Maybe its useful for people who buy Higher value GFs

    • +9

It's 5% off groceries, petrol, alcohol. And it's a gift card so you can stack it with other offers like 10% off from woolworths mobile and everyday rewards bonus offers. My most recent shop was $130 of groceries:

      -10% (woolworths mobile) = $117
      - 2000 rewards points (targeted) = $107
      - 5% off (gift cards) = $102.

      It all adds up.

PS: I don't think any stores that accept WISH cards sell girlfriends, not even high value ones.

      • +5

You can try Bunnings for husbands though .. get's you some attention at least.

      • ah cool yeah makes sense. thanks for the breakdown

    • +2

Also great for people who got a new CC and have a spend requirement in order to get bonus points. They can spend now and use later.

  • +1

Looks good, not buying now since I still have >$1500 in Wish GC from previous CR promotion (and $400 in DM).

  • Nice one, thanks OP

  • Just picked up a $500 GC, discount applied straight away, took all of 30 seconds. Thanks OP!

  • Can someone confirm this can be used to purchase fuel at Woolworths Caltex stations? thanks

  • Thanks OP. Any idea on expiry?

    • +1

      No expiry date :)

      • My bad, I meant for the deal not the cards..?

  • too bad about the high minimum spend. already bought a $100 one with 3% off the other day to last me for 1-2 months :\

  • Does any other stores sell discount Wish or coles giftcards now?

  • only grabed 1000 for now, incase some other promo comes from zip or afterpay, make it 10% off

    • These have no expiration date, so as long as there's still woolies left to shop at, you'll be ahead.

      • +1

I can just see the headlines now - "Woolworths group into receivership due to Ozbargain's massive buyout of discounted wish cards!"

  • I saw it on Facebook. It's for 18, 19 and 20 March.

  • +5

For woolworths staff that want to get extra saving on top of the staff 5% (10% for big W) staff discount, this is what I did.

I purchased a $500 (plus $7.95 purchase fee) Only1 visa gift card and got the staff 5% discount, which cost me $482.95 ($17.05 saving). I used that creditcard to purchase the $500 wish card for $475 ($25 saving). Then when i use the wish card at woolies checkout i get an additional 5% off staff discount making a total of saving of $67.05 (if my maths is correct) from a $500 total purchase (even more discount at bigW).

    • +1

Why not purchase the only1 gift card over and over again for free money?

      • Not sure why got negged? It is feasible, but I'm not doing. I bought a few in the Zip Dec 10% back.

      • The next thing is you will get a call to the office for a warning. Headoffice do monitor staff discount card used, abuse of staff discount is ground for dismissal so unless you want to risk losing your job you can do that.

    • Woolworths staff 5% discount works for gift cards? Lucky. Coles discount card excludes gift cards.

      • +1

No all gift card card, or I would be purchasing wish card for 5% off. I only stumbled open this when I asked staff there to scan some random cards to see which give staff 5% off.

  • can you wish gc for woolies grocery? or is this just for big w etc?

    • Of course you can.

      It works at Woolies supermarkets.

      • thanks!

  • just go to their gift card website. no promo code needed.

    https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/

  • +1

What a great 1st post, OP!

  • Ordered and received the confirmation, but still waiting for the e-gift card.

  • can these go out of stock?

    • Never seen it happen yet

  • +1

Does anyone know if this promo is in stores as well (purchase physical GC from woolies)

    • According to Ww phone help some promotions only apply at particular stores. They contacted my local supermarket and the answer was as I expected - NO, online only. Ymmv

  • Thanks OP, grabbed 3x500.

  • any expiry date?want to stack with the cc offer

    • +1

no, which is why I just purchased enough to cover the next 12 months grocery shopping
