useless offer, first it suggest I get something for an iphone6 then changes its mind

    • It works for Apple iPhone 6 128GB only.

  • +3

I traded in an old S7 for $15. Confirmation email clearly indicates a non return fee, also screenshot when you do the trade up update shows the max fee they will charge is $15. So it's $300 / $500 off even if you do not send in the phone.

Once you receive your new Samsung device, you will have 7 days to return your device at an Australian Post Office or you may be charged a non-return fee of $15.

      oh wow

      • +1

unfortuantely I dont have any of the eligible phones

        • Buy an iPhone 6s 16GB or Oppo R7 if you can find it. They are cheap.

    • Yeah same here, 175 for S10E. But not sending in the device feels a bit risky.

    • Surely if they didn't receive a phone, you wouldn't be eligible for the $300/$500 bonus, just as if they deemed the phone was worth $0 (due to not meeting their criteria)?

      • Show me in the T&C where it says that.

        • +1

          Saw this in the T&C.

5.4 Before entering Your Trade ID when purchasing a New Samsung Device Online, You agree to:

          (c) Us undertaking a final assessment of Your Existing Device to:
          (i) confirm whether Your Existing Device Qualifies for the Program when we
          receive Your Existing Device
          ; and
          (ii) determine whether Your Existing Device has been Mis-Graded;

11.1 We may preclude You from participating in the Program if at any time We reasonably believe
          that:

          (b) You have breached these Terms and Conditions;

Program would probably mean the $500 promotion.
If you dont send your phone, they wont be able to confirm whether the device qualifies for the program, which would be a breach in the T&C.
If they preclude/disqualify you from participating in the program, they could charge you the value of the promotion.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

    • Once it gives you a code, how many days it is valid for? Since s21 5g 256gb is OOS now:(

      • "Your trade-in value and Trade ID will only be valid until the end of the month, so make sure you Trade-Up today to guarantee the best value."
Back in stock right now (no grey)!

  • "Unable to verify credit card info" . Checked every number and still not working.

    • I had the same issue earlier, check my comment above. I was trying it on old iPhone 6 plus that I don't use anymore. So, I did reset the iPhone and did everything again. and It worked.

      • Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment

        • Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment

You have to enter your CC with the trade up app before the code will work.

          • @superforever: Yeah and I had the "card validation failed" error.
I thought the code will work if its in store
and I did try on an iPhone 7, same card I used and it worked.
I don't know if just because I wanted to trade in the S8 which is pretty old
but its in the list. So I really don't know why it didn't work.

            • @Sygnoze: Try a difference card, I have just entered my CC to the Trade up app no problem.

        • Did you end up fixing this issue? Mine does the same

          • +1

@ozchobie: Yeah i did uninstall the app and install again.
Seems like a bug int he app.

  • the Samsung A20 isn't eligible. Also they won't provide the $50 code via chat.

  • Any consensus on using a damaged phone?
I have an A8 with a broken back glass worth $10. I'm happy to lose the $10 because it's deemed ineligible after the fact.
Some have said here, you can get away with not even handing the phone in.

    • +1

go for it and tell us what happens

    • No one has tried yet so don't assume the loophole exists, I will try it and let you know :)

      • I reckon by the time you find out, most of the good models/colors would be sold out.

  • Hi guys, I want to trade in my son's iPhone6S+. Before I download the trade-in app, I wonder if the app lock the phone or do anything? Can I backup the data after running the trade-in app?

    • +1

Nope, it just runs around 8 or so tests to see if the phone basic functions work. Can't speak for iPhone but android the only requirement was to remove the screen lock. If all of them pass it will issue a trade up code. You have 7 days from using the code to transfer your data and then send the phone in.

      • Thanks mate!

  • Grey imported phone OK? If value 0 can I still get $500?

    • I think I read in the terms and conditions that they won't trade in a $0 device.

      • It said back and download trade in app, is that mean it will erase everything with the trade in app?

    • My s8+ was imported and the app valued it $85. Maybe flash the latest stock XSA firmware on it and try again

  • What are the chances of the S21 256gb gray being restocked before the 24th when it jumps back to $1349 :/

  • Can we use this through jb hifi?

    • No. Samsung store only

      • Thanks for your response.

  • +1

    No

  • During the trade up app it asked if any damage on the screen (S7) I said NO but just found out a small dent on the corner.

Should I do it again? What will happen when send it back and they found out?

Just tested I got "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment" XD

    • +2

And S21 256 out of stock, is it possible may back in stock soon ?

      • How can Samsung AU run out of S21 256GB? Seriously? The phone just came out recently. If Samsung themselves don't have it who would? Is this designed to persuade ppl to go Ultra? I had a look and even $800 off is not worth it for me.

        • +2

          S21 256GB back in stock

          • @superforever: many thanks- was on maining list for stock updates and got nothing - managed to see only pink and purple available but since the back of the phone will be under a cover i'd rather get 256gb than 128gb in my fav colour

            • @slick7: When I bought my violet for my wife only grey was out of stock.

  • Can this be purchased via a Debit card or does it absolutely have to be a Credit card? TIA

  • +1

I did this the other day.
Got $205 for my S10 and the $50 spam sign-up.
Ordered about midday, phone arrived the next morning. Damn impressive!
Only thing was the 256GB of the S21 dark grey was out of stock, and given I never filled up the 128GB on my S10 over the 2 years of ownership, I was fine to live without it.

Trying to do it for my wife's S10e but I can't seem to get the $50 again with any email address I've tried (and I've tried about 4 different accounts/services - it's not in junk/quarantine).

However we're both on 4G and Telstra is the only one that offers 5G in our area, so we're going into JB Hi-Fi today where we can pay $499 upfront for the new phone and get on a new plan.
The upfront amount is less than we'll pay if we did it with the trade-up program AND spam discount, plus we get to keep the phone.
    Win!

    • So you're happy to get a new phone number with the jb hi-fi deal? I know some people have successfully moved their old number to a new plan but Telstra won't necessarily allow that. Just fyi.

      • But the JB offer says "when you switch your number to Telstra on a…".

Why wouldn't Telstra allow you to port your number from another carrier? I've never had an issue with it before.

        • Sorry I misread your post. I thought you said you were already with Telstra. The "we're both on 4g and Telstra" bit threw me.

          • @wombat81: Ah, I should have put a comma in there to make it read: "we're both on 4G, and Telstra is the…". :-)

    • +2

Might as well get the 256GB version where you pay $599 upfront and get a $100 JB gift card

    • +1

It might not be your email address, I tried… 8 different email addresses and none got the $50 voucher. Ended up emailed them and they sent me one the next day. They said that my email service might be rejecting them, but I think the issue is on their end as my emails were hosted by 3 totally different places.

      • Yeah that's what I'm thinking. When I signed up for the code it came within about 6 hours.
But so far I've used services within Office 365 and Gmail - nothing in quarantine for any and it's been several days.
I've emailed them but that was yesterday, so not holding my breath.

    My terrible S21 Ultra experience:

    19th Jan: I pre-ordered an S21Ultra in its online store .
1st Feb: I received it, very happy with phone and camero and the wirelss charging trio. Battery is a bit issue but ok.

10th Feb: It breaks down. It basically disconnects SIM card and drain battery 50% per hour by itself. I brought to the store, the staff says exchange/refund takes 2-3 weeks. A brand new Phone! IphoneOppo/Huawei gives you exchange on the spot! I said OK and leave my phone and let them do the exchange.

After 5 days, samsung online chat agent says it is a faulty phone and i will receive my exchange.

After 10 days, agent says due to availability it may take 3 weeks.

After 15 days, agent says my faulty phone is still on its way to the warehouse

After 20 days, the E-commerce team said due to availability, it will take another 3 weeks.

After 25 days, Samsung store said they just shipped my faulty phone to the warehouse.

After 30 days, the E-commerce team said the warehouse still did not received my phone. it will take another 30 days and i said it is NOT accepetable. after 2 hour phone call, they agree to give me a case manager to look into this issue.

After 35 days, E-commerce team the warehouse received it but forget to label it as "received". Now after 35 days my faulty phone is finally received by them.

After 40 days, they said a case manager is looking at my case again.

After 42 days, i received my exchange phone.

If you want good customer service, buy Apple. Simple.

  • S21 256GB can't possibly be out of stock for Samsung in Australia… it's not a retailer. It's Samsung themselves. I understand delays like custom colours taking 4-5 weeka but out of stock seems like BS.

    • +1

They've probably sold the allocated amount of stock that they were willing to sell $100 cheaper.

I just bit the bullet and bought the 128gb version, I'm only using around 40gb on my 128gb S10 currently, as everything is on the cloud these days and I have no use for a quarter terabyte on my phone anyway.

I wanted the grey one, white and violet were still available the other day in 256gb but didn't wanna cop those colours.

      • +1

yeah once 256gb for price of 128gb promo ends the stock will magically come back. I'm willing to bet on it

        • No point getting salty about something that's out of your control, dude.

    • It obviously could be out of stock. They could literally have sold all of the units that they currently have in the country. I'm not sure why that's so surprising.

      • Samsung manufactures Samsung phones - right? … surely their online store stock system is clever enough to keep selling units and specify a delay. It's not like they will stop making these phones. They've been out for a matter of weeks. How can Toyota keep taking orders for the RAV4 even though you have to wait a few months?

        • But they don't manufacture them in Australia. It's definitely possible that future stock is unconfirmed and therefore they can't commit to selling more units at the moment.

          • @wombat81: In my example the Toyota RAV4 is also not manufactured in Australia…

Anyway I spoke to support who said they had no idea about stock but they've added to a mailing lists for notifications. The 256 for price of 128 promo ends in 2 days. Current deal is great but they should pull promo and add it back later when they have stock. It's just getting attention. Or a weird way to convince ppl to upgrade to more expensive devices.

  • +1

Have tried to get on to this deal for the last 2 days. keep getting "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment". Frustrating!

      Hi Stoodoo
Try putting in your credit card details on the trade up app on your existing phone… The trade in code is only acceptable if you have shared your credit card details on the app…. Additionally, if you contact the customer service on the chat, they will give you a voucher for an additional $200….

      • Additionally, if you contact the customer service on the chat, they will give you a voucher for an additional $200….

Sorry how and why they will give additional $200?

        • They don't, that poster is trolling as you can see they only created their account a few hours ago.

          • +1

@retainer: I managed to get 4x $200 codes from the online chat, It also stacks with Newsletter $50 and the $500 Trade in and double memory.
The hardest code to get was the newsletter code

  • sorry a bit confused…so for the S21+ you get $500 discount PLUS $300 discount for trade in…so that's a $800 discount?

    • $500 discount PLUS $300 discount for trade in

That is only with EPP site.

      • +2

        False information.
The EPP store gives a discount of $300.
The Standard store gives a discount of $500.

        • False information.
The EPP store gives a discount of $300.

For S20+ they gave $500 + $300 only for S20+, $500 off $1649 + $300 trade in, but not sure why on EPP the RRP for S20+ is 1649 on normal store 1549

If you have login check it out, I have screen cap.

        • +1

You are confusing the discount with the trade in bonus. In the Education Store (I have no idea about the EPP because I don't have access) the silver S21+ (256gb) has been discounted $500 (from $1649 to $1149). On top of that you get a $300 trade in bonus when you trade in an eligible device. Then the $50 sign up voucher can be applied as well.

So if you have an eligible trade in device the price gets reduced by at least $750 from RRP.

  • If you contact the customer service on the chat, they will give you a voucher for an additional $200 above the value of the phone and $500….

    • +1

So the value of the trade in device + $700? Really? Proof?

    • +2

      Haha no way

    • I was asked if the S21+ or Ultra are options I considered. I said they are currently too expensive for me by about $200 or so

I was milking for this extra discount voucher and didn't get it

Having said that I don't like the physical size of the S21+ or Ultra. I would prefer if the S21 was a little smaller personally…

  • Anyone that did trade up and bought a phone, do you still need credit card during online check out? Since already put C.C. details in Trade Up app.

    • No, you just need the the code that the trade up app generates and the details for whatever payment method you're using to pay for the device. I didn't enter my cc details again outside of the trade up app.

      • Just bought from EPP store and it did ask for payment again. I paid by paypal.

May be EPP not the same?

        • Yeah sorry, maybe I misunderstood your question. You do still need payment info when you purchase, but it doesn't have to be the same CC that you used for tradeup.

  • Make sure you buy a tracking number + insurance when you send back your old phone via Auspost. If it's lost in transit or they haven't received it within 7 days then you'll be charged the full price.

  • Anyone received the $50 coupon after contacting them over email?

    • I did, they sent me a code this morning after I emailed them on Saturday, here is their reply:

      Dear XX,

yes, i just checked again and i have got it too but S21 256gb is out of stock :(

        • Still waiting on my code.

Hoping to get the S21+ 256gb since its still in stock. Although I really only need the S21.

          • @karu: The extra battery life is what convinced me to go for the 21+

            • @wombat81: Good point, compared to my Note 8's measly 3300 mAh.

            • @wombat81: but larger battery doesnt mean much when you're not comparing same size phone screen - it has a larger battery because it uses a bit more power

I was also thinking S21+ since they don't have stock of S21 but I don't like larger phones in my pocket - I go running too - I have to carry extra weight - no thanks

              • +1

@slick7: Also waiting for S21 256GB back in stock, if not may just go ahead with the 128GB for my wife.
