  • Where do you get the samsung voucher from? This seems like a good deal

    • It's a little pop up from the link. If doesn't work try another browser. Mind you, lots of people (Inc me) having problems receiving the voucher from signing up for newsletter. So I just pay the extra $50.

    • I rang Samsung customer service and they gave me a code over the phone and it worked.

      • What number did you trying? I used online chat and they said they would send (another) email to their support team to get me a code. I sent the support team email on 29 Jan, and forwarded that email again to them today. Poor form.

        • FYI, I just tried signing up for the voucher again and it came through straight away.

        • I am sure you may have checked your junk emails. But for me, I have EPP portal access and 100% of samsung emails are heading to Junk folder.

        • For any queries or problems you can email [email protected] or call 1300 362 603 and select option 5 for Customer Service. Our Customer Service Team is available Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm

S21 ultra comes down to a max of $1349, less if your phones actually worth a bit.
One thinks Samsung might be struggling to get people to upgrade.
    Not too shabby

  • +4

FYI Education EPP for S21 256Gb starts at 999 with $300 bonus on top of trade in.

    • Can one use the $50 voucher through the EPP?

      • +1

        Pretty sure you can.

    • Are you getting banner with the offer? I am in my Education portal and don't see anything.

      • +1

It's usually a pop-up down the bottom right corner. Make sure you're browsing without any adblockers.

  • what are the eligible devices for trade in ? can I trade in my old Xiaomi phone ?

    • +1

There is a samsung trade up app. You install it on the phone you want to trade in.

Go through the process and it will give a trade i code which your enter when you buy the new phone (from samsung)

      • No need to use the app. The website will give you an estimate.

    • +2

If you click 'trade in later', it gives you an option to see what your phone is worth.

      • My wife's OnePlus 5 isn't even eligible….. first screen on the app.

        • +3

What does samsung want with a oneplus?

          • @MagicMikez32: What does my wife want with a OnePlus 5?

          • +1

@MagicMikez32: What does Samsung want with an Oppo (which BTW owns OnePlus) then ? Because Oppo phones are eligible, and so are many other non-Samsung phones. Oneplus 5 is probably not there because it was never officially sold in Australia through local retail channels (only grey imports).

      • is this option on App or Online?

    • xiaomi isnt eligible, its not in the list.

  • +1

    Hmm $85 plus $500 for the S8+

Is the Ultra worth an extra $300?? All I see is the extra camera, .1" bigger screen and 200mah battery

    • The ultra supports the pen. (Which I like to use, but it is an optional purchase)

      • No I don't use that S pen.

LOL don't even think the 21+ is even worth the extra over the normal S21

The $50 bonus pop up but when I click it nothing happen. Just stuck there any one else the same?

        • My girlfriend didn't think shed use it, but has found it handy. She said it's better than her Apple Pencil 2.

        • I reckon the + is worth the extra just for the battery life if nothing else. The silver 256gb version of the plus is $1149 (cheaper than all other variants) on the ed store.

  • +1

just got the S21+ 256 GB for 584AUD on the edu store trading in my XR + using the $50 voucher

    • How much is the s21 plus on edu store?

      • Silver is 1149

  • +1

Where the hell can I get an Ultra in 512gb? Out of stock everywhere.

    • The samsung online store colours are available, but you have to wait.

  • Trying to use the Samsung Industry Partner store to order the wife a new S21 Ultra 256GB and trade in her S10+ but it keeps erroring.

Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment

Decent deal with the EPP since its offering $300 trade in bonus + $235 for her S10+ and $50 newsletter code takes $585 off a new handset ($1,479.20 S21U)

    • I'm getting the same error message

    • i had that for a week and it worked yesterday. just try it everyday.

no point reaching out to Samsung or Asurion, they just ghost you.

    • I figured it out thanks to their chat support. you have to go through the "Buy online" route and enter your CC details in order to claim the code on their website.

  • +3

Also if anyone is using the Partner stores and wants a S21+ there seems to be one colour thats cheaper than the rest

    Galaxy S21+ 5G
    Phantom Silver, 256GB
    SM-G996BZSEATS

    128GB
    $1,239.20

    256GB
    $1,149.00

    • Thanks for this tip. got it.

I'm thinking of trading in my old S7 but I'm reading a lot of reviews saying that Samsung try and back charge you if they find even a small scratch on the trade-in device. Trying to work out if they'd charge me just the $15 they think it's worth or the $15 plus the bonus $300-500. Anyone have any experience with this?

    • +1

I can't see how they could take the bonus trade in money away. At worst they might deem your phone to be worth $0, though. But I'd say your s7 would only be worth $20 to them anyway…

      • That's what I'm hoping. It should be $300-500 off the RRP according to the T&Cs, rather than $300-500 extra trade credit I think. I may try my luck and take pictures of my phone before I send it too. Some complaints say Samsung has even claimed that they had sent a completely different phone model in as trade-in.

        • +3

I feel Samsung would lose much more by damaging their reputation in this way than they could possibly gain by scamming a few hundred people out of a few hundred dollars.

I think they're just trying to move excess stock to people who otherwise wouldn't have bought their phones.

        • +1

Good luck! Very good idea to take some photos before sending it, including one of the display showing the serial number etc. Reading the T's and C's, if the phone is 'misgraded' then they will charge the difference between the original estimate and the new valuation onto the credit card you used to buy the new mobile. The bigger risk is as you note if they value it at $0 then not only will they charge the difference but also it is possible they will claim the bonus is no longer valid as "$0 value devices cannot be traded in." The only mobiles I have in my spares box that are in the accepted list have faults that would make them worth $0, so I'm not bothering.

        • Hi mate. Where did you see these complaints? I have the same concerns.

          • @nroko86: I googled some Samsung trade-in reviews on forums and reddit. I found it hard to find Australian reviews not US ones though.

I'm going to give it a go, after taking some pictures and videos of me sending my S7 in.

    • Has anyone tried misgrading their phone then cancel the credit card used so they can't charge the trade in amount?

      • +1

So you want a bad credit record.

      • Lol

      • +1

Seems like a pretty dumb thing to do. You think Samsung will just forget about it?

  • Can anyone confirm if the deal can be bundled with samsung education? Seems too good to be true.

    • +2

Eud store has additional 300 exchange bonus instead of 500.
Can stack the $50 voucher on top of it.

  • Thanks got one

  • My s8 plus only get 300 + 85, is it only 300 because it's imported?

    • -1

      coz it's old

    • +1

The bonus is $300 on the education store, $500 on the normal store.

      • Ah that explains it, but end result should be same right? Since it's more expensive on normal store

Edit: just tried out normal store, education store is still cheaper by over $100

        • Yeah ed store still ends up cheaper

          • @wombat81: Will trade in work along with 50% code (selling on the forum)?

            • @Ozfanmel: Don't know sorry. You'd probably need to read the terms and conditions of the trade in deal.

              • @wombat81: sure, i think 50% TnC is not available to use as its only for telco employees. If anyother have tried combination 50%+ trade in bonus offer, please share as it would be beneficial

  • "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment" crap..

    • See here

      • I already have the code. The error is showing when I'm trying to put it in checkout.

        • Did you enter your CC details on the app?

        • I had this. You need to put your CC into the app first, then the code works.

  • Just got a silver S21+ 256gb for $707.41 on the ed store. The trade in for my S9 was $95 + the $300 trade in bonus + the $50 sign up voucher.

    Thanks OP.

    • How much is the s21+ for you in the ed store? Mine is 1240 - 85 - 300 - 50, $805. How is yours $100 cheaper still?

      • N/m it's the silver colour that's cheaper

  • Got excited for this. My old S7 is in perfect condition and passed all of the app tests, but i just noticed it has some screen burn-in from Android auto.
I guess i could pay the $240 to replace the screen and still come out on top 😖

    • I thought I read in the t&C if you dont send in your old device, they just charge you the trade-up value? I.e $85 or whatever they value it as? So check the t&C. I.e. the trade-up value is sepate to the trade-in bonus

      • Do u get to keep $500 trade in value in this case?

        • That would be a pretty big loophole to exploit - doubt they'd allow it

        • That's how I read the t&c when I went through the valuation app

          • @FeZZa21: Same here. No mention on the Samsung T&C and since the trade in scheme is run by Asurion and it is not mentioned in the trade up T&C I cannot see how they could charge you for it.

            • @dcs29: yeah exactly, it's run by Asurion and they don't know what other discounts have been applied to the order. it states:

Device Non-Return Fee means a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale

the only amount thats linked to the Trade ID is the trade-in value of $85 or whatever it is, nothing else after that. worth taking a punt on it.

              • @FeZZa21: So if only the value of device is linked to Trade ID then how is the bonus $500 deducted?

I would have thought that Trade ID applied at POS would include a total of device valuation + $500 no?

                • @BargainHuntahh: The bonus is offered by Samsung separately, just like they can give you a bonus $50 off out of thin air for signing up to their spam email.

        • Looking online, from what peoples bad experience with their trade in promotions. It seems like if you don't send your phone (or send a different phone) they'll charge you the whole 500 (or whatever value the promotion was).

          • @khaez: On the phone trade up app if you select online, it said will charge $15 if didn't send the phone for my S7.

          • @khaez:

It seems like if you don't send your phone (or send a different phone)

That is what I am worry, my S7 in good condition but a small dent on the top left corner, not noticeable because not on the screen I am wondering whether they will actually check that small dent.

        • @superforever I guess that could just be your agreement with asurion. In the samsung TnC it mentions:

11.1 We may preclude You from participating in the Program if at any time We reasonably believe
          that:

          (b) You have breached these Terms and Conditions;

5.4 Before entering Your Trade ID when purchasing a New Samsung Device Online, You agree to:

          (c) Us undertaking a final assessment of Your Existing Device to:
          (i) confirm whether Your Existing Device Qualifies for the Program when we
          receive Your Existing Device; and
          (ii) determine whether Your Existing Device has been Mis-Graded;

From my understanding, not sending your device is a breach of tnc since you didn't do what you agreed to.

And I guess the program is the extra $500 promotion. So technically they could get your device, decide they're not happy with the condition (like someone sending in a heavily damaged phone hoping to game the system and just pay for the device), return your device and say that it doesn't qualify for the Program and charge you the $500. Could be clever play of words, or I could be wrong.

Someone who won't mind spending the extra $500 should test it out.

          • @khaez: I'll test it on the education store since bonus is only $300. Like the other guy I'm pretty sure the app said I'll be charged $85 if I don't send in the phone

        • @FeZZa21 The trade in is handled by asurion, but the promotion is handled by samsung, probably why the app says you'll only be charged the amount of your device, since you were also able to trade in outside of the promotion period, so they probably didn't bother making updates to what the app says to reflect the promotion.
But yeah, let me know, I'm curious too, but don't have the 500 to spare to test it out. Picked one up myself.

I suspiciously believe that maybe, just maybe samsung is hoping people would try to use this "loophole" so they can end up charging almost full price for their phones.

        • @superforever I reckon as long as its not in terrible condition, they'll just charge you the physical damage fee, which is probably the cost of your trade in value. Cause technically, your phone could be in horrible condition, and still pass the tests on the app (in this case i believe, they'll probably say that the device do not qualify for the program, return the phone, and charge the 500). Cause lets be honest, I reckon quite a few people have this idea in mind where they'll just offload their hard to sell condition phones to samsung for the 500 promotion, then sell the s21 on gumtree or ebay.

          • @khaez: Yeah that is what I think, hope they are reasonable but currently 256GB S21 is out of stock may wait to see if they may have stock back sometime next week before the free upgrade will expire on 29March.

  • -6

    S21
    Deal breaker

    No SD card slot

    • If you absolutely need more than 256gb of storage, USB-OTG is an option. I've found that I've hardly used my SD card in the last few years, so I don't think it'll be a drama.

      • +1

I take that either you don't take videos or you use cloud for storage.

OTG, Meh. You don't carry around OTG+/USB when you want your videos in your phone.

  • So how much would the total purchase price be for a S21 128gb if I am handing in a S10 128gb which they are trading in for $205 ?
    $1249-$500-$205 = $544 ??

If I am reading correctly from the terms below on the estimate page?

** An extra $500 will be deducted, in addition to the standard trade in amount for the relevant device as quoted ( samsung.com/au/tradeup).

Also confused on whether you can get the new phone first before sending off the old one as they want it within 7 days of the trade in ?

    • +1

I think it's within 7 days after getting the new phone

      • Yeah thanks cleared it up with Online chat too.
Basically this deal is like selling your phone on Gumtree and buying full price without the hassle of doing it via Gumtree first.
Well for me the figures stack up that way.
        Cheers

        • Yeah would've been silly if they expected you to send your phone straight away especially if you purchased the red one which has a 4-5 week delay, meaning you'd be without a phone for all that time

  • +1

Nothing for my note 8 but I get 30 for my 2016 se iPhone

    • +1

Note8 trades in up to $125

    • @Kiro did you do the test on the app? I've the same SE but it keeps failing the gyro test, even though it works fine with compass etc. Did you run into this problem at all?

  • Is anyone having issues with Credit card verification issues when completing last step in the app? Mine keep getting failed, tried different cards, tried Credit and Debit both, Tried re-installing the app - nothing works. and the guy on the chat wants me to send an email to their customer care team so that they can investigate. Anyone suggest any solution?
