Bosch Freestanding Dishwasher Series 6 SMS66JI01A $908 (RRP $1399) with CODE MAR15 online Only @The Good Guys

160

I have been following bosch series 6 for a while. This German made (confirmed by calling TGG) Bosch dishwasher is a reliable one, while being relatively old model with only 6 programs. Compared with the seris 4, which are made in Turkey and made with plastic base (often on sale for appx. $700-750), this one has better build quality and material (metal base).

The 15% off can be stacked with shopback 5%, bringing it further to $862, nearly record low!

Bing Lee have it for $999…
Also if you live in Sydney as they won't shop this to Melbourne might be able to get it through their eBay store using the current afterpay deal bringing it down to
    $799.

    • Thank you Schumi! I realised Binglee had it for $999, while they dont support delivery of bosch dishwasher…. For people in QLD, TGG seems to be the only good option…

  • The 1A model (this one) comes with no cutlery draw in case anyone was looking for that

    • Right, but it does have cutlery basket

      • +1

Yes but so does the models with the draw, it allows the option

        • Not true. Our 2A version didn't come with a basket. Bought this year. I believe they used to.

          • @SgtBatten: Interesting - our SMS66MI03A version (Harvey Norman specific, but I think otherwise identical to the 2A at Good Guys) came with the cutlery drawer and a single cutlery basket (that we don't use). Had for 2 months and happy so far :)

Guys, isn't it drawer, not draw?!?

Normally I'd just ignore this… But not when 3 people in quick succession make the same mistake!!

Bosch have gotten worse each generation, not with cleaning ability or reliability but layout. They are so far behind. There's no room in the units with a cutlery draw. We went to TGG today with our crockery to test and the Bosch was garbage at fitting anything even medium height.

On the other hand, asko has a cutlery tray which doesn't block access to the top track, a cutlery basket which fits anywhere and hold down rails to stop plastic flipping.

No idea if the asko is any good at cleaning or reliability though. And I don't know if the asko dedicated pot spray arms and fan forced drying (might be good for drying plastic) is gimmick or useful.

    • As a Bosch s6 owner who purchased the unit without a cutlery draw (remember they exist!) I have no complaints except maybe the child safe lock. SMU66JS01A/63

    • I'd choose washing well instead fits certain things in. If your current cockeries aren't important, maybe new ones that fit into are also in the plan

      • The vertical clearance is so bad that I'll be eating off tiny plates forever lol.

If you don't have tall stuff in the top rack it's passable. Poor but passable. But we have kids hence plasticware which must go in the top rack

    • Asko as a trusted European brand is now forever gone!
      https://www.channelnews.com.au/exclusiveasko-fast-becoming-a…

Enter the Chinese Asko: Hisense has bought it and ruined it (well, not entirely but doing a "great job"). I've forever erased Asko from my favourite brands list.

I specifically bought Bosch Serie 6 dishwasher (with a cutlery drawer). When compared to Westinghouse it replaced, it is light years ahead. Also made in Germany. Can't fault it! Read reviews on Product Review and Choice magazine before making such comments. No, I do not work for Bosch or have any affiliation with them. I'm just a dedicated OzBargainer that does a lot of research and shares the knowledge where possible.
The only poor(er) quality Bosch products are the ones made in Turkey and China.

      • "Read reviews on Product Review and Choice magazine before making such comments"

Try reading my comment before you make such comments bro.

I said NO issues on Bosch reliability or cleaning. I've owned two Boschs. But the layout on the current series 6 stinks. Which I believe by taking my actual items in for a test fit I'm quite qualified to have an opinion on.

Thanks for the info on asko, but again note I said only their layout was a much better design and perhaps no good for reliability.

We had series 8 for about $1200, 5 years ago. It's washing great after the old Miele playing up.
It has a drawer instead of basket. You can't fit taller crockery but normal ones fit.
I can certainly pack more stuff in and wash out fine. It's very quiet, barely notice it's washing until the bell rings.

    • This is a false advertisement, they don't have any stock and will try to upsell you to the Bosch Serie 6 with the cutlery drawer. They'll then justify this by saying that Bosch is planning to discontinue this model, so they're doing you a favor. Waste of time.

old model with only 6 programs

just get a digital set top box.

  • Bought this model (ie without cutlery tray) for $1049 from good guys a few months ago. Happy with the performance so far.

  • Can you put free standing one under kitchen bench or you need the kitchen bench version ?

    • Yes. If it's too tight you can remove the top cover anyway

    • Yes it will fit its fine. I got 1 i will sell for 500 if anyone wants a second hand one in sydney. I now has a 45cm slimline S6 no need for it.
Cant even tell these things are on so quiet.

Bit late, but i picked up the Serie 8 a couple of days ago from Appliances Onlines' ebay store -

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Bosch-SMS88TI01A-Serie-8-Fre…

RRP $1999, currently on sale for $1,638 in the above link.
    20% for afterpay = $1310
And mostly paid for with 5% cashback giftcards.

It's only being a couple of days, but seems great. Large plates fit easily, has cutlery rack and basket. Lots of adjustments. Very quiet. Missus is v. happy.
Only complaint so far is that the door is slightly off centre. Fixed that issue by not standing in the kitchen looking at the dishwasher :)
