Qshave Magnetic Adjustable DE Safety Razor w/ Stand, 10x Blades, Blade Disposal Case US$21.99 Delivered @ QSHAVE AliExpress

50

This is a new DE (Double Edge) razor that is often sold under different brand names. Most commonly known as the "Baby Futur", for it's resemblance to the Merkur Futur. I personally own this DE razor and it arrived within 2 weeks for me. I cannot say to much on how it compares to other DEs as this is my first DE I now own. However, it is many many times better than my Gillette Fusion5 ProShield.

From my own research (aka Reddit), I did not use the supplied blades and got myself Astra Superior Platinum blades.

Package comes with:
- QShave Magnetic Adjustable DE Safety Razor (Model: RD8283)
- Razor Stand
- 2x QShave 5x Blade Pack (10x Blades)
- Blade Disposal Case

YouTube Review - This is not the QShave brand however, this is the same product.

  • I have not owned this specific model but the adjustable merkur futur clones are pretty good compared to the old style gilette disposable razors

  • They also sell on Amazon not sure if price wise is cheaper, will find out

QSHAVE Adjustable Double Edge Classic Safety Razor (1 Razor & 5 pcs Titanium Coated Blades) https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B06XGVRQKP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f…

      $25.97

      • Not really the same as the original post contain the stand ($13.99 on Amazon).
But shipping will be quicker from Amazon.

        • The linked razor on Amazon is a clone of the original Merkur Futur and the one I linked is China actually taking that design and making something original. So the one I linked is an original new design but clearly inspired from the clone that has been selling really well which is cloned from the original Merkur Futur. At least that is how I understand it.

  • Definitely a Merkur Futur clone… Almost tempted to get one just to compare

    • I've had both and bought a clone off from china for ~10$ a year back.

It's pretty much a 1:1 but with cheaper materials, the turning mechanism is stiffer and it started rusting roughly a year at the base of the handle, granted I didn't really clean it properly as it was basically a cheap throwaway. I'm not sure if it's because of the different material or the finish but it tended to trap dirt and shaving cream much more than my authentic one and didn't rinse off as easily.

Shave wise it was pretty much the same, there is also a "base" (on amazon it's called QShave Razor Solo Stand) I would avoid using that as it gets dirty at hole at the bottom of the base really easily and I think it scratched the plating off the base of the handle causing it to rust?

If you properly cleaned it and avoid using the "base" I'm sure it would last much longer. Still miles better than using a crappy a Gillette razor and is a good first blade to dip into DEs.

  • I spent a couple of months shredding myself with an adjustable qshave. Two things contributed:

    • Adjustable razors by definition provide an adjustable fit and can therefore create an inconsistent grade (i.e. one side of the razor can be more aggressive than the other). This is apparently more likely on cheaper razors.

    • All blades differ in terms of sharpness and no one blade suits everyone.

I switched to a Mhule R89, which is known as a non-aggressive beginners razor and a multi-pack of 7 different blades to try out. I love the razor and have settled on two blades. I absolutely love shaving now.

    • Are there any other razors which are beginner friendly?

I'm no expert and you can probably find plenty of help online by searching google. However, two fairly well priced razors that come up time and again for beginners are the Mhule R89 and the Merkur 33C. The term aggressiveness comes up a lot in terms of whether a razor is for a beginner or experience shaver.

Also, the new King C Gillette Double Edge Razor seems to be pretty good for beginners (maybe with the exception of the long handle) and if a bargain compared to other razors.

        • Thank you for replying :)

        • I was also a beginner at using DE razors. I bought a Weishi razor off Amazon after hearing it was good on less course facial hair. 6 months in and it has worked a treat for me. Paired it with BIC razors that were 100 for $12 off Amazon as well.

  • I don't own this.

Looking at the pictures alone, I wouldn't buy it. This is because I shave 1 - 2 times a week. This means my facial hair is not that thin and small as opposed to a daily shave. With this particular model, I can foresee problems with getting the hair out of the razor when shaving.

For me personally, there are other models out there with plenty of reviews that will be a potentially better fit for the job.

If it's a copy of the Futur head then it actually works really well for exactly what you want, i.e. cutting through steel wool grade facial hair without getting easily clogged

Previously bought a qshave classic. It's not for me, I rather stick with the muhle. If I bought this as my first de, I would have not continued with it.

    • Exactly what happened with me. Started with a qshave, questioned whether DE shaving was for me and then thankfully took the plunge on a Mhule R89 with a sample pack of blades. So glad I did!
