    Bought 12, thanks

Gotta say 1.35kgs for a 17 inch laptop with decent battery is very impressive.

Seems like only yesterday when I was blown away by the 13 inch Macbook Air at that weight

  • errr…

Didn’t think you could get the gram in Australia

  • Only in stock for NSW postcodes at the moment

    Wish they had AMD.

Yeah I'd struggle dropping 3 grand on 4 cores now

  • I thought the Evo chips were on par now with AMD

    • +2

Lol no. 'Evo' is just a marketing term from Intel- it's a grab bag of specs including everything from wifi to battery.

These are still only quad cores, so not going to compete with AMD's big boy chips

      • Would the amd big boy chips do well in this form factor?

        • Sure. Annoyingly with custom configurable TDPs you can't really tell what this is running at, but it's between 12- 28W. A 15W 5800U from AMD would offer 8 cores / 16 threads.

        • You can get thin and light enough AMD in ultrabooks from Lenovo. I have an Ideapad s540 and does the trick for me.

Besides, this year and next is gonna be the year that ultrabooks are getting 90hz and above screens with Dolby vision etc.

      • GDPWin did some testing with the AMD vs Intel and still chose Intel because it was slightly better performance per watt overall. I remember everyone was expecting them to go AMD for the Win 3, but they didn't and produced a whole bunch of benchmarks to prove it (Tiger Lake vs 4500/4600 Ryzen). I think the early Benchmarks have proven the Win 3 to be better overall than the Aya Neo using the Ryzen 4500.

  • LG made some good laptops back in 2010….long time back…….not sure how they are now….

  • i was actually excited about the gram when it first came out but wasn't available in australia - was heavily considering importing one.

nowadays though…. at this price i'd rather just get one of the zen 3 ryzen's.

  • I honestly wouldn't call "Intel Evo" chips as "Gaming laptop".. unless it's a GDPWin 3 designed for that purpose.

  • They should have fixed the non-centred keyboard and single TB port in this iteration.

But instead they left those alone and took away the RAM slot.

    Sack the product manager.
