  • Mate of mine bought his S8+ in Hong Kong. Immaculate condition ie no screen, battery or other parts replacement. Trade Up App say INELIGIBLE without any reason provided. Does not even carry out the diagnostics. Any ideas? Coz its a superior overseas dual sim, Snapdragon version? Might get him to visit the Samsung store in person and ask.

Grey imported very depends on your luck, no problem with my S7.

      • Anybody else had luck with grey import traded fine?

        • My S7 is fine and passed the app, you have to download the trade up app to check .

          • @superforever: Yes the Trade Up App is declining it straight away without doing those component diagnostics

    • umm maybe because it is grey import….

      • yeah but @superforever didnt have issues trading up. hmmm!

        • Because grey imported have many difference version, may be some with carrier brand on it.

    • I had the same problem with my partner's note 8.

      • Mate is going to physical Samsung store in Chadstone today. Will let you know if they honour the grey import for trade in.

    • Had the same problem with my S10 (local stock) I deleted all app data then reinstall the Trade up app and it worked.

      • You mean factory reset or just app data?

    • My wife's s8+ was imported but not Snapdragon and it worked fine with trade up app. I had also flashed stock Aussie xsa firmware not sure if that made a difference

    • Grey import S8+ here. No problem trading it in.

      • Did you falsh the Aussie firmware?

        • Nope. Stock Asia ROM.

I used the Education store $300 bonus on top of my $70 trade in value for my old S8. Does anyone know, if I 'forget' to give them my S8 will I be charged $70 or $370?

Also, can I trade in grey market phones? Ie. Snapdragon phones?

    • So how much did you pay in the end? DId you use the $300 instead of the $500 voucher?

      • Yup. $1,059.20 for the phone, opted for the half price Samsung Care+ on top of that too.

  • +1

For the trade-in, we just need to post the phone itself right? We can keep the cable, and charger right?

    • Yes, just the phone itself.

  • +2

Hi OP, note that the promotion period for the trade-up ends 29th of April but the current prices for the phones end on 8th of April.

Source: online chat agent told me.

  • Education Store says:

    "Charger Sold Separately

Please note, charger is sold separately. Charger options available at the add-on page after you selected your Galaxy S21+".

What do they sting you for a charger?
Will a Motorola fast charger work?
    Thanks.

    • Any USB-C charger will work. If you specifically want the 'fastest' then may require Samsung 'Super Fast Charging' 25W branded charger ($29), but this is not required IMO.

      https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/how-to-use…

Edit: apparently any USB-PD 3.0 charger should be sufficient? If someone could confirm. If true, the Motorola TurboPower 45W Wall Charger should be able to maximise charging speeds.

Note making full use of this charging speed may worsen battery performance over time.

      • Samsung 25W charger will give you the 'Super Fast Charging" message and charge it at max rate
I think decrease the time by 20 minutes etc

        https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/13/galaxy-note10-plus-…

        • This one does too and gives you a lot extra on top of the standard Samsung charger:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/619372

          • @gadgetguy: This one do super fast charging?

            • @Meovel: Yep, using it now. Just ordered a second one.

The 3 in one cable is pretty cool too. First time I've had one that does Data AND Charging.

        • I've gone back to using a slow 10W charger on purpose to keep the battery going longer.

If really in a rush then I'll use my laptop 65w charger

          • @daft009: i read an article that says fast charging does not decrease battery life

  • I ordered one last night at the old price.

Called them and they can't cancel.

Have to refuse delivery and wait up to 30 days for the refund.

Generate another trade in code and re order.

    What a hassle.

  • even better deal than my EPP offers!

  • I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro I was looking at trading in ($105) but can't locate the charger. The checks are on the phone itself but can't see in the conditions about the charger itself. Anybody know?

    • +1

      apparently phone only.

I was thinking of trading in my note 10+ 256gb for 315+500, thoughts? Got it for 1.5k off amazon when it launched 2 years ago.

    • I'm thinking the same thing, I got the note 10+ 256gb for $1200. I'm thinking to go with S21+ but there a few downgrades with S21+ like the display res, storage, RAM, no dual sim but it's a new phone for very cheap price when you trade in the note 10+.

      • Funnily enough I'm currently deciding whether to upgrade from Note 8 to Note10+ or S21 Ultra - have you made the change and have any insights?

        • Traded in my note10+ for S21+ for $285.

    • I reckon you'd be better off flogging your N10+ online for a lot more $, buy a cheaper phone online, like an s7/8 and trade that in. You have 5 days left to do so.

      • Can you really sell a used note10+ for $1015($200+500+315)?

  • No offers on galaxy tab s7 plus 😔

  • hang on. the s21 256gb which was on promo until yday, at the same price as s21 128gb, is now cheaper when not on promo?

    • Correct! I'm glad it was out of stock, and I waited.
But the problem now is waiting for them to come back into stock. Happens intermittently throughout the day sometimes.

  • Wow my son bought the last deal and 2 days ago

  • I haven't received an email about returning the trade in phone, anyone know what the process is?

    • +1

You'll get an email not long after receiving your phone. I got my email about 30 mins after I got my phone.

  • "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment".. I don't understand why they would require you to enter in your credit card details first, before the trade-in verification would work.

    • Select Trade in by post and enter payment details. That should fix that.

      • thank you. will walk my wife through it.

  • I had massive problems with trade-up (ocmpany called asurion does the tradeups). there's massive internal responsiblity issues that is occuring between asurion and samsung.
i even have recording of Asurion saying its not their responsilbity if they can't do the trade due to samsung. I went to a samsung store to see if i could troubleshoot the "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment" error.

We ended up uninstalling the trade-up app and made sure all cache data and everything was deleted. re-installed and reran the diagnosics to value my phone and …IT WORKED!
got $150 for my samsung S9+.

  • Damnit my s8 microphone isn't working apparently and screen burn counts me out.

  • -2

Does the trade-in credit have to be applied to an s21 phone? Or can you use it on a TV etc? Thanks.

    • Only on phones

  • Does this work on the Note 20 series at all?

    • S7 models or older so your phone checks out

  • Buying the cheapest S21 and trading in an s6 ($15) + $500 trade. Is possible to see to make a profit?

  • Anyone got a spare $50 email sign-up code? Seems to be taking forever to send

    • not yet. maybe they'll send it after the promo is over ^^

    • Got mine the next day

  • i got a s21 256gb for $947.99 + Got a $100 Visa gift card, during the afterpay promotion sale
    delivered within 2 days.

  • My S8 volume buttons work absolutely fine, but the Trade Up app won't recognize any inputs on them (all other tests passed)
Tried disabling BxActions in case that was the issue, did a restart after that, still no recognizing inputs?

Short of a complete wipe (would much prefer to keep everything installed on it if I can't get the trade up $570), any ideas or anyone else with the same issue?

    • Remove app cache reinstall

      • Cache of which app?

        • Clear cache and data on the trade up app first and uninstall it.

  • My Mic test on 2 google pixels didnt pass but work 100%, I was able to simply uninstall and reinstall for another go.
I spent an hour trying to get the mic test to pass, cleaning, rebooting, yelling all sort of ways and decided to get my wife to do the mic test and passed first go ;/

If you get on the chat late at night I was able to get additional $200 Vouchers which stack with the $500 trade-in and the $50 sign up. (Day time chatters gave nothing)

    • Still what was the reason you ask for $200?

    • Yeah, what was the reason for you getting a $200 voucher…?

      • Reason was cos I didn't get the $50 sign up code and they threw 2x$200 codes to me. Only worked after 9pm EST

        • If you have the second one spare and could pm me I would love it, been tryna get my $50 code too and they just told me to wait another 24 hours lmao

          • @424242: I don't I used all of them
The chat only works after 8-9pm EST for the voucher, It must change to a different country/samsung office chat staff

            • @Geoff897: Alright I'll try after 8 then, doubt I'll get a $200 voucher that just seems so unnecessary hahah but maybe I'll get lucky, thnx

            • @Geoff897: As I remember chat didn't work after office hours?

    • Were you able to stack $200 vouchers?

      • Cant stack multiple of the $200 but can do 1x signup $50, 1x $200 and the $500.00 trade-in

        • I got a $200 voucher too, but can't stack it with the $50 newsletter voucher?

          • @whytd: also via chat after hours?

            • @DvD: No, was during the day time actually last week.

              • @whytd: I have asked about the $200 voucher and the chat team know absolutely nothing about it

        • I managed to stacked the $50 and $200 code together.

Traded in note8 for $125 to get the S21+ for $424 (1299-200-50-500-125) after discount. Thanks guys :)

  • Anyone know if I'm able to send my S8 after I've transferred all data from it to the S21 once I receive it in the mail? Or do they require us to send our old phones straight away, prior to receiving the S21?

    • After receive new phone they will email you

    • +1

You have 7 days to return phone after receiving new phone.

  • Actually insane to think you're getting offered 750 bux for a used s10. So tempted to jump on this. Samsung you cheeky devils

  • Got my S21 128gb for $344 with an S10 trade in and $50 off voucher, I held off from getting one yesterday as I was waiting for voucher to come and it did, and further discounted today too which is nice!

    • May have 256gb back soon

  • +6

anyone knows what happens if you send a phone and they deemed it to be worth $0. Would you still get the $500 trade-in or have to pay it back?

  • Waiting for the $50 voucher to come in to upgrade my wife's S10! Come on already!

  • +2

Great deal, will wait a couple of days to see if EDU store drops price otherwise will jump on this. Cheers OP.

  • offered $125 for a note 8 - have had a new battery installed but no idea if it was a genuine samsung batt or not!
