Can't believe no one has hacked this to play on a TV yet
It lacks the electronics to output via HDMI. Not just the connector but the IC for outputting a digital signal to HDMI standard.
The cost of hacking it in, the added bulk making it no longer portable and the fact you can get a full on switch for a bit over $100 more on sale means HDMI will never be added via a hack. It just makes much more sense to get a Switch.
Which is a pity. My biggest issue with the Switch is the way the joycons connect to the main console, it's just not very solid or robust, and for that reason I'm looking at getting a Lite for my wife instead of a regular Switch. However it would be really nice to still have the ability to dock the unit, even if it only output at 720p (for the graphical style of most Nintendo games, it's not really a deal breaker).

Your biggest problem should be the joysticks themselves. Joycon drift is still a big problem, and having to send your whole Lite in (and there's a chance Nintendo send you back a different unit!) is a real pain.
You can actually replace the joycon rails if they get too loose on the classic unit.
@Merlict: Well aware of how bad the sticks are. Have done multiple replacements myself.
Once upon a time Nintendo could be relied upon to have reliable, robust hardware. But the Switch's build quality and hardware is a joke.
I recommend Amazon over HN/BingLee… They at least don't try to refund via gift cards. lmao.

Getting a refund or warranty from JB Hifi is like pulling teeth. I've never had an Amazon return go wrong.
Don’t have one of these as I have the original switch but this is a decent price. I personally only play my switch in handheld so would have got one of these had they been available back in 2018
Should be $199.99 with the lack of demand for them . And still wouldn't sell !
