Lowest price ever on the described models. Note, these are premium devices priced as such, so their performance per dollar is certainly outclassed by inferior devices. However, if you are seeking a comprehensive Microsoft Laptop + Tablet experience, there is little competition.

The previous best price for these models was the 15% off All Surface Book 3 at JB Hi-Fi deal on 31/07/2020.

Current pricing at digiDirect vs Historic best price

  1. 256gb i5 8gb RAM 13.5" at $1,949.00 (previous best $2,251);
  2. 256gb i7 16gb RAM NVIDIA 1650MQ 13.5" at $2,499.00 (previous best $2,889); and
  3. 256gb i7 16gb RAM NVIDIA 1660 Ti MQ 15" at $2,659.00 (previous best $3,144).

N.B. regarding specs, the i5 processor is a i5-1035G7, and the i7 processor is a i7-1065G7. Pricing on the larger storage capacity models is not competitive at digiDirect.

    Seems expensive based on specs…

  • outclassed by inferior devices

Sounds like an oxymoron. But get whatcha mean.

As a computer salesman, I get this all the time.

    "This seems overpriced."

Would you detach it to use as a tablet?

    "No."

    Well don't buy it then.

  • I've got the surface book 2 for a couple of years. Never used it as a tablet. It's basically an overpriced laptop.

    • I reckon the Surface Laptop 3 is a better product.

      • They're two different products; I don't think you can really say the Laptop 3 is better than the Book 2, especially when there's a Book 3 …

        • Perhaps I should clarify that again. The Surface Book product is good for what it is and what it can do. But for the typical use case, perhaps not many people would use it with the tablet detached. Most of the time they are attached and use like a clamshell laptop. For those reasons, I believe the Surface Laptop is great. Sure it will not have the more powerful GPU and for that the Surface Book is great for those use cases.

  • Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like JB has the same i5 model listed at $1599 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/microsoft-surface-laptop-….

That's the laptop, not the surface book 3.

  • I use my Book 2 as a tablet often. That's why I bought it, and it's worked fine.

Very disappointed in the performance of these Book 3s though. The Laptops beat them in CPU speed, so does the Pro line. That's nuts.

Hopefully Microsoft take this line seriously again in future.
