  • Can you port a telstra number as part of this deal?

    • -2

Yes, you can but need to talk to Boost customer service 125 8881 to get that done.

      • Good luck with that! Have been wanting to change to Boost over past 6 months and there is no online or phone support at all. Decided it was too risky to be stuck in no mans land.

So is it on 30/03 only or anytime between 30/03-05/07?

Can you buy this and use as a top up instead ?

Please talk to Boost Customer service first if they can help?

    • No

Yes, yes, a million times yes!! Someone should make a sticky to one of the hundreds of explanations people have given around this in other Boost deals. Please, this is not to say that @justtoreply is wrong, it's just that this is something that is not common knowledge.

In theory, you can't use this is top up, as this is a Starter Kit. From here, all you can do is ask boost nicely if they could help you with it. You have 2 ways of doing this. The first one is calling their support phone number and asking them, and the second one is via the new My Boost App and chatting with them online (I think it can also be done from their website, but you have to disable any adblocking extensions for it to show up). The first option, apparently, goes to Boost's customer service which are not that helpful when it comes to using a starter kit as a recharge, so they will most likely not allow it, while the second option, via chat, apparently goes to Telstra's support team, which will be much more friendly and willing to help you with this specific scenario (i have gathered this form other posts by users who have done the same and form my own experience).

So, chat with them, and ask them politely, explain to them that you bought this sim thinking you could use it for top up and now can't return it because oyu already opened the envelope it came with, and they will help you (you might not even have to lie or explain to them, in my case they just said yes after explaining that I had a starter sim and i wanted to use it for top up, they didn't even give me enough time to make up an excuse). They will deactivate your OLD simcard, and then activate the NEW one with the NEW number, and then move your OLD number form the OLD simcard, into the NEW simcard. The process took around 15 minutes in my case, and i did it the exact same last day my plan was expiring. After that time, your old simcard will stop working and all you have to do is insert the NEW simcard which now has the OLD phone number in it.

Something else you can try is to get them to transfer any leftover data. If they say they can't do that, then ask to transfer that data to someone else in your familiy or friends who uses boost. I was able to transfer around 80GB of data to my wife, and once her plan is close to expiry date, i will transfer her leftover data to me, and so on.

The worst thing that could happen is that they will say NO, in which case you have to close the chat and connect to a new agent and try again.

        Best of luck!

        • did they still honour the 'bonus Data' though?

I plan on going from the $150 80GB to the $200 180GB but if they won't honour the 'new customer' data, it ain't worth paying more $$ for 30GB data.

@Bunsen: Yes, they did, i did ask them before they started the whole process and said it was no problem

            • @pichxlonco: Cheers mate, perfect. I need to recharge in a few weeks..

              • +1

@Bunsen: Good luck. For the bonus data, just make sure you recharge or activate it withing the period indicated on their website.

          • @Bunsen: Response really varies, did not get the bonus the last time around. I was told that there were limitations in the way my renewal was carried out.

  • 1200 minutes are in total for the year or a month? Is there a way/ paid to extent these minutes?

  • +1

Oh I just got the previous Boost 200 deal with less data

    • +1

Haha I am in the same boat. I was rushing to activate this today which I managed to do after some hiccups due to their system failure. Now they are saying you will get more data from tomorrow.

It's about the time now that boost stops this nonsense $200 BS and make the retail cheaper back to $150

  • Would boost had better coverage than woolworths mobile? Or would they be the same?

    • +1

Apparently boost id the only one of the virtual operator that uses the whole telstra network, so coverage should be better with it (not sure if woolies uses telstra as well or not).

    • +1

I switched from Boost to Woolworths. I found the Woolworths connection in Melbourne metro not quite so robust as Boost when it comes to data. It doesn't really affect my actual usage all that much, but it was slightly noticeable. I am happy to live with the difference due to the costs savings.

Rural, telstra v wholesale telstra, is probably a different story.

    coupon code no longer working

    • Bummer. Was just about to order.
