1 year warranty is covered under 12 months manufacturer warranty , 2nd year warranty is covered under Australian consumer law . where any product sold in Australia need to carry 2 years warranty .

Some credit cards (e.g., gold, platinum) provide "extra warranty" protection. I bought an iPhone with my BankWest Zero Platinum card and it provides an extra year. This is a good way to buy such a pricey item like an iphone (or a TV or anything costing 1K or more). Yeah, you can save a little with gift cards or Afterpay or such in some cases, but sometimes a bit of piece of mind is good too.
Apple offers 24months warranty on their phones and accessories. Which is really great IMO.
24 months is fairly typical isn't it? Samsung offer the same.
It is not no, especially on things like cases. My iPhone case has 2 years warranty on it.

It's not just a phone. It's a portable computer that is also a phone.
It is all contextualised proportional to your income and willingness to spend money.
Easy to justify for some people. Phone should last 4 years, $375 a year for something you likely use every day and doubles as a great camera.
$1500 for a device most people would use 2-4hrs a day, every single day for 2 years.
