  • How do these mediatek processors go? I feel icky thinking about anything other than exynos and SD… am I elitist? (tbh, probs yeah)
Considering this phone for my old man. TIA for any input!

    • Mediatek is world number 1 chipset supplier today.

      • Yes but this P35 is an old and weak SoC. The newer Mediatek SoC are great but not this.

    • I personally would consider Samsung over the alternatives because their One UI is pretty good and also offers simple mode that makes it easier for older people to use. I got my father the A20 ages ago and it was a wise decision. The other great thing about Samsung is they are actually supporting their cheaper products now for considerable time. Surprised me that they had committed to pushing out Android 11 to the A20, considering that phone was around $150 prepaid when released and shipped with 9. The MTK chip will be fine for basic everyday use, like mobile banking, social media, streaming media etc. So yeah I wouldn’t disregard it based on that premise. The Oppo A52 is the other obvious alternative that offers unbelievable value. The A52 is one heck of a phone given it’s cost and beats the Samsung here on paper at least.

I can't imagine your old man will know, or even care.

MediaTek processors are use extensively in numerous brands and models of phones and tablets.

Checking specs and Antutu score, its one weak phone. Better off with an Oppo A52 or even A53.
