Not for gamers but any content creators especially on Creative Cloud who need a powerful CPU performance mainly with 64G RAM. This maybe worth a look than say a Macbook Pro 16 inch if mobility is not the main criteria but a good to have for those client meetings.

Was selling for over $7000 last year so good deal if you're looking to spend a bit extra and have that flexibility of easy :) mobility.
Keep in mind that this is over 4kgs and needs 2 adapters to go at full speed.
Promises easy upgradability but with 10900K, 2080S and 64G RAM, the only think I would consider is adding hard drives. Otherwise that feature is more marketing than practical.

            @Nomad2233: Well, they're the only one I tried for Australia, but I also used them for other countries when I live there -
            They're generally Okay, there's nothing I worry about generally, definitely worth it but it can get pricy at times
            Main disadvantage for me currently is that they only ship with FedEx \ TNT to Australia currently , used to be DHL And economy too.
            The FedEx where we live is…is something alright. I'll save you my 2cents.

            But here's the thing: MyUS - Costs money. You gotta subscribe. I would never! I was fortunate enough to get a year membership for free during Black Friday , it was available for everyone to claim.
            That makes it a bit easier to recommend if you can wait unt you stumble across a promotion like that.
            Never had they lost a package or damaged a package on me, you can ask for stupid things like, ship everything you got the way it came - and they still don't charge extra for it. So once I got 2 boxes that were 60x60x60 weighing at 20kg each 😂 - but I payed shipping per the item themselves, they open the packages, inspect, list, weigh, put back in the packaging. They don't open the products if it indicates what it is from the outside.
            Then, you're SUPPOSED to be Honest and tell them how much what you bought costs… 😇 Never had a problem there either.

            Overall, I'm satisfied. But if I was made aware of a drastically better service, I wouldn't mind Trying.

              @The Milk Man: I think this might be something to do with directlink shutting down operations this week. Their international shipping rates are significantly less than the competition. I expected postage cost of ordering stuff ftom certain countries might double, for anything over 2kg

          I'd only by specific brands that offer international warranty. One of my mates had a tablet he got from the US break. Paperweight after a few months.

            @incipient: I actually mostly buy from eBay or big sales from regular stores. Otherwise cant really argue the difference in price.

            Only two times was I swindled by eBayers. Both times PayPal proved to be the hero.

            Bought a tablet, "brand new" , was obviously lightly used, I reached out to the seller , they played stupid. I warned them, they don't know what I'm on about. I reached out to PayPal and got all my money back without returning.

            Now, I bought a coat , got it as S and Used instead of M brand new! But the seller too refuses to acknowledge my existence… So, PayPal to the rescue

            The main thing that grinds my gears, is that if you reach out to eBay and ask them to remove a negative review , they will
            And so have those sellers
            So next time that tablet (profanity) will list something for $700USD
            Another innocent child like myself may be swindled :(

            @G20: Oh , it's nothing complex, just the fact to import the device you gotta pay for shipping , and then there's taxing for import, then there's taxing for the sale , then taxing for the transaction, then you gotta make sure you made some worthwhile profit.
            While US MSRP may be , for example, $2,500 USD , it'll end up being $3,400 USD in Australia, just because… 🤓🤷🏽‍♀️

        You cant expect well cooled 10900k desktop performance with a laptop grade cooled 10900k. Performance varies with the cooling. Water cooled or even aircooled 10900k on a desktop will beat the performance of this laptop easily.

      None exist with a desktop processor. The "H" versions still struggle compared to this.
      Surely this is a niche product, and an R3 end of year will launch but then at $7k will never be in reach of someone like me.

        I get that there are some very rare power uses who need CPU power over everything else.

        But for being sold as a 'gaming' laptop.. the GPU upgrade of 40% is far, far more important than any real world CPU difference

        It certainly is a niche product. Honestly it's the worst of both worlds (desktop and laptop). Being far more expensive with less upgradeable than a desktop. Not sure how it performs but I would guess not as well as an equivalent desktop. It's also not very portable considering the weight, size and the fact you need 2 power supplies.

          Fair enough. You don't need both adapters (only for full performance) but I don't wanna counter as I agree with what you said, I know a few people who are happy with it and paid around $5.5k-6k eq. Use it as a workstation 4 days a week and take with them on Day 5 for client reviews.

    Do what I did, when it came time to buy an Alienware. I bought it from BHPhoto, even with paying the 10% GST.
    Still got it for less and the specs that I got weren't even available here.

    Never really understood why someone would buy a humongous laptop with the specs equivalent to $1500 gaming PC but more than 3x the price… You can buy a Thinkpad with Ryzen 7 plus the equivalent PC for less

      more like a portable desktop… this will be useful to those who are expecting the raw CPU performance of a desktop processor but with a bit of portability…

      tbh, i don't get it as well, i won't get it myself… to me this is not that much portable to an actual desktop due to the thickness…
