  • Thanks OP. Pefect timing - got 6. :D

  • +1

    how do these charge?

    • Using an AC outlet

  • Can someone confirm if these can be flashed with tuya-convert. Don't want to waste money on them only to find out they have the new PSK.

    • +1

Almost every sold today isn't compatible with tuya convert. Still piss easy to flash tho

    • +2

May not need to flash. Apparently you can just sign these up to the tuya smart app and forget about the Genio one

      • Yeah, i've done this with all my Mirabella stuff, no issues.

      • What do you mean by all this? Got 2 packs. Have a smart plug to that was linked with Google earlier. Only plan on using with Google too.

        • +1

You can link with Google, and one other app of your choice. Google has primitive control over the lights but allows integration with other devices and Google assistant etc.

The other app will allow you to set timers, change light brightness, full colour spectrum and even sequencing.

Many different companies repackage the "Tuya" app, slap on their own label, and force you to download another app that does exactly the same thing as all the others.

What I am trying to do is to consolidate all my devices into only 2 apps - google home and Tuya Smart.

          • @modded: Thanks, so you are suggesting to use the Tuya app instead for these? Should I move the smart plug too?

Ultimately I probably only will use Google long term though.

            • @scuderiarmani: @scuderiarmani
Use Tuya instead of the Kmart app. If you ever buy lights from a different brand (highly likely given the way the world is going) you will be able to fully control them on one app only, instead of Kogan & Kmart & Bunnings apps etc.

I believe you also need to install them to at least one other app before you can "import" them into Google by linking your accounts for both applications. Google doesn't interface directly with the lights, I don't think. It sends a message to your Tuya app which then sends a message to the lights to change their state.

              • @modded: Yeah thanks, ended up getting to work with a manual add on the Tuya app, will switch the smart plug over if I can one day

There is also a "local tuya" option going around these days, I haven't tried it out yet as I don't have any non flashed devices currently but sounds like another method to do away with the cloud aspect.

  • sorry for the dumb question, when it says 4 pack does that mean i get 4 of these lights in a pack for $25?

    • Yes. 4 with transformer.

      • thank you

Great value, I bought some for $40. Some things to note. Up to twelve lights can be daisy chained from one power supply - personally I'd limit it to ten. You have about 6m to play with from the power point to the first light. The lights are not super bright, and are physically small, and are pretty plasticy, but fine for decorative purposes. The lights are rgb without a dedicated white led, meaning if you want warm or cool white you have to blend the colours - the result is not quite the same but ok. The lights are not individually addressable so you change the colour for all lights on one run. The cable is pretty thin compared to (much) more expensive lights from Philips or Brilliant, but the lights aren't sucking much power so it doesn't need to be thick. It would be more prone to damage though - again, stupid cheap so whatever. Typical Tuya needs 2.4Ghz wifi.

  • Thanks mate, got 2. Perfect timing for my landscaping project.

  • These are tiny - only 13cm tall (including the spike?). I might get a box to stick a light in the pot of some of my balcony plants, for an interesting effect.

Edit - not in stock in my local stores. Need to cop the $10 delivery fee if I wanted it.

  • My spotlights stopped working in the recent rains, path lights are still going strong.

  • Order cancelled. Just got a refund via Paypal.

  • Order was cancelled by kmart

  • same, even though some of the Genio items I ordered show still available , I really didn't want to go into individual stores to complete what I wanted
