  • What’s the minimum credit amount?

    • +5

      It's $15k

      • +1

        most likely correct.
this is black, higher than platinum (platinum = $7k-ish))

        • 100% correct, I just got one a few months ago.

        • 😉 once again black come up on top.

    • +3

Black is always $15k, Platinum $6k

      • Edit

  • +6

Got rejected last application. Not sure if I should try again

    • +2

yeah me too got rejected last month.
dont try, we need to sit wait for at least 6 months . some said 10 months to be sure

      • +10

Rejected 2 time in 12 months time, in the meantime time I got st George, Westpac and Citibank credit card approved. I suggest don't even try with ANZ.

Rewards is good for a reason.

        • +5

similar like me, but i know other people who got rejected by st george westpac but at the same time got anz cba
so my point: it is just random like lottery

          • +3

@CyberMurning: Better invest the good an hour of time elsewhere than fill in the application and interrogate by the accessor to justify all $ you put into 30 different categories of your expenses.

            • +5

@SnoozeAndLose: Rejected by ANZ last month for the 75K Qantas card, and they sent the letter through saying no. An assessor rang back from India and said it should all be ok, and another assessor will call back. Never happened. So i called ANZ Australia and they promised the callback. Never happened. Emailed twice to the ANZCards email address. Never got back to me.

Got approved for AMEX/St George in the last 12 months without issues. Only ones that have had credit enquiries are ANZ and Citibank. Funny that.

The first time I got an ANZ card 2 years ago they made me jump through hoops, like six times sending payslips in before I got it approved.

              Never again with ANZ.

              • +2

@adrianhughes1998: Should write on their fb page to voice your complaint

                • @corgicorgi: Will do. They did ping me with a credit enquiry that dropped my credit score, so may as well fight a bit longer to try and get the card.

                  • +2

@adrianhughes1998: Once in 2019 they pinged my credit report 10x for ONE bloody application. I suspect my appl got bounced around different teams and each fool in turn took the process from scratch. Including external credit checking.

I got so mad at them. Long story short, I wrote to Experian the credit check co about this and an email attached with ANZ basically admitting their failure to be efficient… but still it took a few back and forth before reinstating my credit scores.

                    ANZ, never again.

                    • +2

@directflight: FFS mate, what a joke. You think they would have more professionalism than this, but seems not. Surely they are aware of the issues going on, but just choose to outsource and ignore it all. Sorry to hear that it took all that effort to get your credit score back to normal.

                    • @directflight: this is similar to my experience with citibank… got pinged 5x without a good reason for a single application…

but I just drop the argument with experian… not worth the time… and if does effect but not that bad… so I let it go…

never again to Citibank… just a crap process.

                      • +1

@thomalfa: the problem with never again Citi is that you're effectively saying no to like 75% of the deals out there (exaggerating slightly).. they also operate cards under other brands if i'm not mistaken Coles Mastercard, 28 degrees…

but i'll just approach cautiously and when i have plenty of credit scores to spare

                        • @directflight: Citibank is the fifth largest issuer of credit cards (behind the big four) and provide for a number of brands including Coles and Qantas Money. Not 28 Degrees, that's Latitude.

They are exiting a number of markets including Australia, which could have an effect on the competitiveness of future offers.

ACCC boss Rod Sims warns big four not to buy Citi's retail bank

when i have plenty of credit scores to spare

People should stop obsessing about numerical credit "scores".

                          • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Yeah, thanks for the correction on 28d but yes, that's what I meant, they are behind a number of brand offerings.

There's no need to obsess over the credit scores but it's important to keep them at a good level especially if you're in the card churn game and as well if you need a few more credit facilities. But happy for you to share your insights otherwise

                        • @directflight: what are the deals that you implied???

i knew 28 degrees card but the term has changed…

i know latitude pay but that is BNPL service…

my sister got the citi signature free fee for life but this offer is never being offered again for nearly 10 yrs…

i don't see my good deals out there… unless I'm missing something that I don't already know.

                          • +1

                            @thomalfa:

what are the deals that you implied???

They were referring to any credit card deals where the provider is actually Citibank - e.g. Coles, Qantas Money, Virgin Money, Kogan, etc.

i knew 28 degrees card but the term has changed…

28 Degrees has nothing to do with Citibank.

                @adrianhughes1998: Almost identical story here

              • +1

                @adrianhughes1998: Likewise experience,

Takes a good amount of time to fill the form with all the $ in several boxes only to be told that you aren't eligible to receive it. With no solid reason of why being rejected. I have been unsuccessful in obtaining a card from them in recent months, and have been successful in obtaining one from AMEX and Citibank.

My advice is, just don't bother unless you have a 6 digit income, no mortgages to pay and no kids to manage.

                • +1

@tryingtohelp: If you can, keep going. I did and got mine approved last week. From the time it first got rejected to getting it approved, was about a month.

Only got the one phone call at the start saying it should be ok and that they would have a credit assessor call me back. Which never happened.

So I kept messaging them on Facebook Messenger where they promised call backs, kept messaging them once a week, called ANZ Australia and they promised a callback. Eventually after 3 weeks I went on ANZ Facebook page and left a public post calling them out for the process.

Lo and behold, next morning received a SMS saying I been approved. Didn't even get a callback. After that paperwork and shit arrived within due time, and using the card now.

I thought since they dinged my credit score with an enquiry, they better not get away with it.

              • @adrianhughes1998: ANZ is tough. They made me send payslips and homeloan balances and personal loan etc…

I only sent 1 of 8 payslips, and 1 of two homeloan statement and my peraonal loan balance.

I thought no way I would get it. Hahha funny enough I got it.

Its just a blessing because I had been praying "God give me favour this week". :)

                Thanks JESUS.

          • @CyberMurning: I got rejected by St George last year even if I had their cc several years ago and I've got pretty good credit score….it is just lottery. Not gonna try ANZ now even if I had black card ages ago.

            • @Swiftz: My last application was rejected but just received an approval email for current offer without receiving any phone calls to provide further details. You tell me what’s going on here

      • +2

I got my only ever rejection on a credit card a few years ago from ANZ. No problems in later applications anywhere including Citibank. Maybe they note churning hence the rejection. Good deal but I will be keeping away from it.

    • +3

Same. Rejected for the ANZ $500 giftcard offer. No idea how or why they rejected me considering I know many less financially responsible people with several CCs. Actually… maybe that's part of the reason

      • Do you have a history of churning?

        • I've churned through several ANZ cards - got approved with a $30K limit no questions asked. Although I did pre-emptively send them 4 months of payslips.

    • +8

      ANZ definitely making it difficult.

Applied for the pointhacks platinum, they are asking for LOTS of paperwork + questions.
5x payslips (earning between $100-$150k, ppor paid off not enough).

Plus their credit assesment team in Melbourne is not the easiest to contact.
They don’t accept incoming calls, they can only call you.
If you miss their call, it will be 2-3 days before they call again.

Never been rejected by other banks, and I don’t churn (typically only apply for 1 card per 12 months).

      • +23

        Melbourne India

        • Unsure.

The first time i returned a call (03 area code) was definitely someone with a local accent.

That was when I was told that they do not accept inbound calls, “don’t call us, we’ll call you”.

          • +5

@causeimbatman: I got calls from them.
The one with Indian accent was hopeless.
The one with a local accent was even worse. Much worse.

            • +2

@Foma2: Perhaps the one with Indian accent was actually from local. The one with local accent was actually lived overseas and trained for our local accent to confuse.

              • @eatwell365: not sure, but the guy that called me, i could hear his mother/sister/aunty washing dishes in the background in the kitchen. makes sense since when you ring the team they say they are working remotely due to COVID.

          • @causeimbatman: No point relying on the caller ID - ANZ have a VOIP gateway in Melbourne that their global calls exit from - that's why the number you saw was likely something like 03 8654 0000 - which literally means it came from an ANZ office somewhere in the world.

        • +3

I think so too. The guy had an indian accent and he didt understand fringe benefits or salary sacrifice. I had to explain it to him. And he kept referring to my car loan as ‘auto loan’ whoch i thought wasnt a commonly used term here.

          • @The Frugal One: Fringe benefit does exist in taxation in India, but only to the higher ranks in an organisation and not all. So I can imagine why the person couldn't get it,
Salary sacrifice is a new term for them for sure.

      • +2

Strangely I've had the opposite experience. I'm a churner so I'm going through 3-5 cards a year. Rotating as they come off the 12-month wait. Every time I've applied for ANZ Black Qantas it gets approved with zero contact. I even started my parents on the points game, and they got approved with zero contact, too.

        • That's very good. Do you hold any car loan or home loan?

    • +6

I got approved, after 3 phone calls. Had to close other cards to be eligible.
Then they were up in arms about $11 pre-tax super deductions. Final straw was when they said when annualized my fought nightly pay was 5% higher than my current YTD. My employer immediately passed on the revised tax rates, along with minor pay increase!!
We both have good double incomes, lots of savings and no outstanding balances and no lavish expenses.
The operator then wanted to see either months of statements or 6 additional pay slips/
I politely told them this is too difficult and I no longer want the card. I do however wish to speak to a supervisor as I feel the application process is too intrusive especially for someone with such ample savings and excellent credit rating.
They said they would arrange a call back, and 30mins later received an SMS stating my application had been approved. Guest they didn't want my feedback.

So yes they are too hard on the wrong people, and probably let the scammers slip through.

    • The more recent enquiries you have, the more difficult it will be to get approved for future cards. Some providers will blanket reject anyone with more than two enquiries in the past six months.

      • +1

Some providers will blanket reject anyone with more than two enquiries in the past six months.

Please share which providers. I've never had less than three enquiries in any six month period for at least the past few years, but have yet to encounter a blanket rejection while churning.

    • +2

I got rejected and then complained many times to the aussies at the complaints place and ended up getting it approved. Those indians in india are beyond incompetent. I have a very strong application and they have all my banking details. I f-ing hate ANZ and would like to move away from them. 0 out of 10.

      • I'm still in the lurch mate, initially got rejected and the letter in the mail. Rang them up and guy from India called back saying a credit assessor should call back, cos they stuffed up entering an amount in, and that my application should be approved. Call-back never happened.

Rang ANZ Australia locally and was promised a call-back, and same on Facebook Messenger. Still nothing but crickets since, and the last call I received was mid-March.

        • +1

did you call ANZ complaints department? I always got a call back when I spoke to them.

          • @James tee: Na didn't mate. Just left public post on Facebook and kept messaging them in Facebook messenger.

Out of the blue today got a SMS saying I been approved.

  • +8

Damn, deal signed up from the other week was only $500 promo

    • Damn me too !

    • Same :(

    • -1

me too. by the way, have you alredy $500 gift card ? i asked ANZ bank, they said nothing to do with them ?

      • I got my gift card, and had swapped it with woolies gc.

        • thanks, how did you get it. i am going to buy fridge and washing during the weekend, so 1500 figure definitely would be achieved

          • @coast666: they sent me an email with the gc detail. I think after you have spent $1500 (and probably settle it), then the email will come automatically.

            • @blueboy410: hi there, i have spent 1500 , bought one fridge and washing machine, but didn't see gift card from email ? Not sure what i should do …

          • +2

@coast666: Be careful buying big ticket items with a churner card. You won’t get the additional purchase warranties if you cancel this card. If you want extended warranty or other protection on household goods (tv’s, washing machines etc), use a card you know you’ll keep

            • @cashless: are you sure you wont get the warranty if you cancel the card?, as im pretty sure with amex they still have to honour the warranty even if you cancel, so id assume anz would be same, unless in their terms it states insurances are voided if you cancel the card

    • Same

    • yep, same got my card in email yesterday.. sigh..

    • Yes, bummer! Me too on the Platinum! I think many of us did.

  • What choicea of shops do I have for gift cArds and where so you buy these gift carda using the points?

  • Be careful. ANZ charge their card customers a separate 'rewards fee' in addition to the annual fee. May not be zero for this

    • +3

" For ANZ Rewards Black, a total Annual Fee of $375 applies, which includes a $320 Annual Account Fee and a $55 Rewards Program Service Fee."

Total fee is waived for the first 12 months.

    • The promo says:

(including an annual fee, currently $0 for the first year, $375 thereafter).

      and then in the T&Cs:

"For ANZ Rewards Black, a total Annual Fee of $375 applies, which includes a $320 Annual Account Fee and a $55 Rewards Program Service Fee."

So sounds like the rewards fee is also waived, right?

  • Anyway to check when was the last time a card was cancelled? And do they actually check if you are over the 12 months criteria?

    • +7

write down / in excel everytime you got approved and cancelled a credit card

    • Annoyingly ANZ don't send an automated email upon card closure.

Credit Savvy shows your repayment history on cards that they (Experian) know about.

If the closed card is listed then you should be able to see the month in which your repayments ended.

  • What if we’ve had the frequent flyer black anz card instead. Still eligible? Do they operate under the same rules or separately.

    • +1

Frequent flyer is a different scheme, rewards is treated as a separate one, you'd be eligible.

    • Did you apply? Trying to confirm if having a ANZ frequent flyer card does not affect eligibility

  • +1

Anyone know the minimum income required?

    • +1

      $65k usually for the Black.

    • FYI minimum income is more like 'suggested income'. The amount minus expenses is what is important.

As they don't lost it anymore, the Black Qantas used to be $75k. So $65k seems about right.

    • $65k plus fully functioning kidneys and liver :)

  • So they don't even give a minimum income requirement? Just got the Westpac deal last month so I think it's too soon to try for this one.

    • -2

well this is black card. so just common sense, the market of this card is for people earning… i say …. hmm… $100k and above ?

  • +1

Shattered that I have to sit this one out.

  • +5

ANZ has the worse CC qualification process out there.

    • Yep, still worth trying though, and calling up a few times after.

  • Any problems if you sign up and have multiple credit card

    • +1

I have several credit cards (over $50K limit in total) and churn cards every six months or so and ANZ approved me with a $30K limit. This was for the recent $500 gift card offer – should've gone for this one instead.

      • I'm in the same boat. Of course there was no way of knowing, so no point in regrets.

      • Is your income in the 6 figures?

    • Doubt it, I have like 7 cards.

  • +1

Applied and just said they will be looking into my details..

  • Hi guys,

So can I spend $2000 on this and receive the bonus points? Is there a wait time for the points or do they get credited after the $2000 spend?
Can I cancel after points redemption?

    Thanks :)

    • +1

I received the points on the previous offer a few days after the spend. I cancelled a couple weeks after points redemption.

  • What can you do with ANZ points?
