Points are awarded based on your spend, not on your repayments.
If you’re only making minimum monthly repayments, you really ought to spend more time reading on ozbargain

    • +2

Sorry please tell us you're not making minimum repayments on a credit card

      • Hahaha i know but need to buy some stocks using company discount program and that ends in May so probably can only pay half of statement off initially

        • hope the discount is greater than the interest you are paying on the credit card.

Applied on 12/4, asked to provide payslips which I did on same day. Received e-mail asking to advise a suitable time to further discuss application (I may have missed their call), replied back but heard nothing for about a week. Decided to call up last Thursday to follow up and was assured I will be contacted back ASAP. I've missed a few calls today but finally received sms and e-mail that my application has been approved and card on its way. I haven't actually spoken to anyone from ANZ and guess I got lucky they decided to approve.

    • +1

Card and welcome pack arrived in the mail today!

  • How long after a credit enquiry have applications been approved/refused?

    • Took 23 days for me… but got approved finally

      • Did you have to chase them down to get approved?

        • +2

Sort of. I emailed asking for call back and they called back in around 2 hours. I don’t think they were related, I.e. time frame was too short and I think was purely a coincidence
Asked me to provide 3 months of payslips despite me already providing payslips with YTD… said apparently they needed some help separating my salary sacrifice/packaging and my copious amounts of overtime and said they’ll reassess within 24 hours and I’ll hear from them. That assessor said she’ll keep an eye out for my application and paperwork, despite me emailing immediately everything she wanted (already had the files handy)
Then i didn’t hear from them for another 2 weeks and just yesterday they texted me they needed more info please email whatever to them… which I already did during the previous phone call
I emailed the exact same documents I uploaded twice now and told them to call me
Later the same day was approved… again timeframe certainly makes it seem like a coincidence
I know it’s good amount of money for bonus points but damn that was the worst run around ever… Never again I’m sorry

  • Applied yesterday about 8:30am. Got the approved message this evening at about 7pm which advised the card was in the mail.

    • Did you have to provide payslips? Just switched jobs but had some time off in between, probably won't look good if they do require them

      • +1

Sure did. They require last 3 months but I provided the past 3 (6 weeks) and notice of assessment from last FY just to be sure. No questions asked.

  • +1

Took 4 days for approval, took another 5 days for the card to arrive. No calls, just applied through the website and uploaded the documents. Fairly smooth application process for me.

  • +2

Applied for the platinum card, got rejected, sent an email saying there's no reason for me to get rejected, got a call from ANZ, got approved, received a letter that my application has been withdrawn, received my card 2 days later.
ANZ get your shit together guys!

  • Applied on 16 April, after closing two other cards in anticipation of this application. Instantly fired off most recent payslip and 3-months bank statement as requested. Then played phone tag with the assessors for 2 weeks - was a nightmare trying to get a hold of them in India. Was told they don’t work weekends but got a phone call this morning, where the chap pored over every detail of my financial history. After a 15 minute inquisition, he tapped a few strokes on his PC before telling me I was approved. Now the wait begins to receive the card.

  • What is the best contact to get in touch with ANZ to give them a hurry up?

    • if you were asked for payslips etc, send them through again via email (if you use their portal the first time round)

  • anyone got the 180,000 bonus points yet? I don't recall seeing a time frame mentioned in the fine print, but i may have missed them!

    • +1

      From T's & C's:
"The bonus Reward Points will be credited to your ANZ account within 3 months of the eligible spend criteria being met."

So, mimimim of 3.5 months if you're a fast spender, maximum of 6 months if you're slow.

  • Am I the only one who can't even get through the application form?
I'm stuck on step 2: 'Your finances'. Every time I click 'continue', it just takes me back up the page to the top of 'living expenses'. I swear I've filled in every section and there aren't any red instructions left pointing out missing fields. Is this a problem with Google Chrome?

    • Update: managed to get unstuck by clicking to previous section (step 1) and forward again. But then after I click the final 'submit' it just says 'Hmm, there seems to be a problem. Sorry about that. We'll be back online as soon as we can.' and a button for 'start again'. It's pretty tedious refilling all the boxes again and again…

    • I found some of my adblockers/extensions may have been interfering. Turned them all off and I had no problems.

    • Am I the only one who can't even get through the application form?

      Nope.

  • +1

    Applied Friday night

Monday, received text message requesting Employment contract and 1 payslip.

Tuesday, received phone call asking a couple of questions and requesting an extra payslip plus final payslip from my previous employer (recently started new job)

Wednesday, received txt message confirming application has been approved

    • How long have you been in new job before apply for this card? I'm just changed recently and wonder should i lay low for 6 months before apply for one.

      • 2 months

I'd say just apply. If you meet whatever criteria they have, I don't think having a new job for <6 months would knock you back. They mainly seem to care about income, expendable cash and debt.

    • Hi did they request the bank statement ? or just the payslip ?

      • No, I didn't provide any bank statements.

Only employment contract and pay slips

  • does it state in the letter received that you will get a bonus 180k points?
Or that the first year is free?

    Mine doesn't! And states a yearly $375 fee ?

    • +1

Mine doesn't mention the bonus points, but refer to earlier comments by another user saying bonus points are not normally include in letter of offer which I agree with.

But mine does specify the annual account fee and rewards program service fee are not payable in the first year.

      • Thx .. I can see that now I've re-read!

  • Yeah did not mention bonus point neither. But did state the first year fees is waived.

I have spend over $2k now so waiting for the bonus points to come through. Some one above mention it will take 3 months or so to come through?

If any one has their bonus point came through please post and say when you spend over $2k as well. So we all know a rough time frame.

    • +1

Agree ^ hit my 2k spend probably 1 week ago, but i think their statements are 23rd every month? hoping it comes through then

  • So I have now been approved with the card on its way. As I'm not an ANZ customer the online verification isn't working which means I need to head into a branch

The plan is to hit $2K quick and transfer points to $800 gift voucher.

My question is how do I transfer the points into the gift voucher. I would like a JB HIFI gift voucher to put towards a new fridge

  • I have one of these and my wife has a supplementary card on my account. Is she eligible to get the points. My assumption is yes but has anyone got recent experience with this?

    • +1

I'm assuming you are the main account holder and your wife has the supplementary card? Yes, all spending on all cards would earn points for that account.

Why dont you just add the card to both of you & your wife phones instead request for supplementary card? Save the extra card fee.

      • Thanks. My question was poorly worded.

I have one of these cards and my wife has a supplementary card.

I’m thinking of getting a new card in my wife’s name to get the bonus points.

Will she be excluded from the bonus points on her new card because she is a supplementary card holder on my card?

        • She will not be excluded.

  • I’m stuck on “your expenses page” in my application. Everytime I hit continue, it loops back to the top of the page. I have plugged all my expenses but it’s not telling me that I have missed a field.

    Anyone have this issue?

    • Yep. Check comments by Melburnian just a bit higher up this page

    • Yes. Read the comments.

      • Thanks

  • This must be the fastest instant approval I had for several years now, usually they require proof of income etc.
But this is instant, approvals and card in the mail email in seconds after submission.
It must be that I recently move all home loans and accounts over to ANZ. Pleasantly surprised.

    • Nice one. I remember the good old days years ago when you could get approval within 60 seconds. Some applications even concluded with a countdown.

When's application cut off date, and wat type of $800 gift cards do u get and which is better cards or cash?? And when do u get the cards or cash?

    • +1

Its all there in the t's and c's
Or read back through the comments

Wow, all those questions are literally answered if you bothered to read any of the comments. You can even View All and ctrl+f

  • Got my card today and activated on phone. Guy on phone then set me up on the ANZ app

In the app it lets me change my pin. Should I do this now or wait for the pin to be mailed in the next day or 2 then change?

    • +3

If you can change the pin do it then when you get the pin in the mail just rip it up

  • Applied 9am today, approved 9:15am today instantly.

    Yay

    • Only 15 minutes? Did you upload the documents?

      • nope, however all my banking is done with ANZ though, so i would assume they could see my salary coming into my accounts.

        • Did you/there wasnt a place to enter the CRN was there? So they just look it up and link it via your name and other personal details?

          • @sakurakiks: There wasnt a CRN place for the CC application, i am going to assume they just ran my name against their database.

The card was not linked to my Internet Banking when all approved and activated, i had to add that myself.

            Hope that helps

  • This deal or the ANZ FF Black which is 150,000 QFF points for $200 annual fee (425 minus 225 cashback)?

    • +2

      Porque no los dos?

      • +1

        happy trumpet noises

        • Can I ask where you are seeing the 150,000 QFF deal? I couldnt see it on the ANZ website

  • +1

Has anyone achieved the $2k spend requirement and received their 180k bonus points yet?

    • +2

I was told it will take 3 months

    • I met the requirement about 2 weeks ago and nothing yet, just the regular points for spend

      • +2

hopefully get it on next statement, also met it about 2 weeks ago

    • +1

Met it within two weeks, got statement and still haven’t got them. Will see if it comes in the second statement.

      • I'm hoping the same, I think second statement is due in a few days. Be nice to have the points by early June.

    • +1

      My points came through!

      • +1

        Same!
Thanks for letting us know, checked after seeing your post

  • +1

    Met spend before first statement.
Just received second statement; no points.

    • +2

Just wait 3 months, like everyone else

      • Within 3 months does not necessarily mean three whole months.
It does seem like banks are dragging things out a little bit more than they used to - although my last Citi credit card was closed 26 days after opening with the 100k points paid out, despite having a similar message in the terms and conditions as ANZ.

        • +3

My guess is there will be certain "file run dates", for example every 60 days from promo start date etc. So one person might receive their points within say 2 days of meeting criteria, whereas someone else may have to wait like 2 months if they have bad timing and miss the last file run date. I'm keen for my points too!

  • Hmmm, I don't know what's going on, but I just called ANZ, and was told that I wasn't eligible for the promotion because I had Frequent Flyer card within the last 12 months. I double checked and was told that you are not eligible for promotion if you had ANY ANZ credit card in the last 12 months. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • Eligibility criteria says this:
Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum or an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria

Does frequent flyer fall under any of those categories or have you been trolled by an uninformed customer service rep?

    • I think you needed to specify it was the ANZ REWARDS Black card not the ANZ FREQUENT FLYER Black card.
Two different independent reward streams. Or the customer service was just confused.

    • I've flipped between Reward & FF card regularly and had no problem with get the bonus points.

Customer support may have been confused. Tell the read out the T&Cs.

  • I applied 6 weeks ago, had 3 telephone calls and then no correspondence for 3 weeks

  • Got bonous points a few days afer meeting the spending.

    • Just checked mine, mine have come through now too

  • received bonus points with the 2nd statement

    • Got mine before 2nd statement, seems to me it's more like a certain date they run the reward fulfilment

  • +1

Points came through too :) there’s 30% velocity frequent flyer boost up until 31 May for those who might find this better value.

    • Damn if I knew they’d come through so early would have blasted all my spending on this card :(
Missed out on like 27k velocity points :(
      Oh well

  • yayyyy points have arrived….Thanks heaps Op :)

  • Got my points sometime over the past 2 days :)

  • So what are you guys doing with the points?
Which airlines points has better value? KrisFlyer or Velocity ?

    • I'm converting to mine for bbq galore gift vouchers for a new bbq. Otherwise would have done something boring like Coles or Woolies gift vouchers I think.

  • Redeemed my points for egift cards for Woolies/Coles/Endota Spa ^_^

  • So it seem the best value to use these points on Supermarkets .ie Coles.WW. Since we always buy groceries

    • That's what I am thinking, nothing else seems to be of better value. Converting to FF doesn't seem any better either.

      • +1

60,000 KrisFlyer points. It's 36.5k points to fly Perth-Singapore business class. So can be quite worth it depending on what you expect.

        • +1

I guess that’s worth more than $800 in ColesWorth gift cards then?

          • +1

@Master Bates: Equivalent in cash is over $3000. An economy seat on the same flight is typically $800. I'm banking the points for future use when the world returns to normal.

Some people are happy taking a budget airlines and putting the $800 towards groceries or something though, to each their own.

        • Also need to take into account taxes which is in addition to points. Flight redemptions would still be ‘better value’ (each to their own as you’ve pointed out) but should take into account taxes which would somewhat dilute its value.

          • @fedex11: The $3000 business class ticket has airport/taxes of $100. So I would assume a point redemption seat would be the same.
